A little song I've been working on for the Portal Machinima 'The Underground' for an upcoming episode. =)

Y'know, I think I kinda prefer this version to the new one.
Don't get me wrong, both are good, but this one just has a creepy and dark atmosphere that sends a shiver down your spine.

Your new version is really interesting and makes you think a lot about the aperture robots, but the old version is very creepy and monotone which kinda fits the theme of "The Pit"

This is literally the best thing this year yet. I was really sad when the project was cancelled, and sometime between this video and today I unsubbed from you (can't remember why) and today I go to dorkly and see the full version there!

TBH, I find this one more scary/dark, propably because its more ambient music and shorter. the longer version somehow doesn't quite grab the punch after this demo.
The pacing and overall mood of the full version takes away from the dark factor.
NOW I understand how this was made for The Underground
For those who don't know, The Underground was essentially a Talk Show for Defective Cores, so it makes sense why this song is about Defective Robots and was going to be in The Underground. Harry, correct me if I'm wrong.

The project that is the show is alive again! They released a teaser for episode 12 of the remastered version of the show 2 months or so ago; The song did make it into the show. Twice! They even stated it's planned to have A SECOND SEASON!
Robot #22: He failed the turret peer-review.
Robot #24: He died before he hit the floor.
Robot #25: He never made it out alive.
And Robot #29: Died on the assembly-line.

scene: glados prototype had been stored away and slowly become evil.
core breaks free and connects to the main grid, glados sends droids to destroy the core. Evil core enters glados chamber pulling the #29 on him, while singing this song as he enters the room.
Could actually make for a really good game. Where a 'dark' core takes over and has all the rejects and failures follow him. He then leads an army of rejects to glados to 'break' her. (something kinda like Scar, where he leads all the hyenas)

Honestly would love to see the full song but in this style. Somber and menacing, the flat voice delivers the fates of many before.

The show started, what, 3 years ago? It was surrounded in mystery and the clips they showed for the episodes that were planned were so random and bizarre and was unknown to ever happen end up coming out with the multiple delays and whatnot.
WHAT IF THE UNDERGROUND WAS JUST A METAPHOR FROM VALVE FOR THE FACT THAT WE WILL NEVER GET HALF LIFE 3 AND IT IS INEVITABLE THAT IT WILL BE CANCELLED.
Or, ya know, the more likely thing of that I'm overthinking it.

I feel as though this version captures the mood of the song SO much better then the new version, you kind of made it an upbeat but somber sounding song, and this one is somber, and slower, and i think fits the mood better, plus THAT VOICE.
POV: Your the turret lullaby test baby in a car seat in a crashed car, Your parents ( Female core with pink casing ) ( In driver’s seat ) ( Party Escort Bot ) ( In passenger seat ) Both of them are passed out and the airbags are deployed and the windshield in smashed, this song plays on the overridden infotainment system, and then one of those pit zombie cores with limbs open the backseat door and take you out of the baby carseat.

while i prefer the slight melody and timing changes that were put in the newer one, the haunting atmosphere of this version is great. I love em both for different reasons

God, the whole atmosphere of Portal is terrifying. This song just helps prove it.
I like the voice more in this version. It somehow sounds a little gospel, which pair wells with the dark tone.
This one is better. Definitely. The depper voice makes it much more atmospheric and such.
If the whole song had this feel, it would be absolutely amazing!
I love both versions. This one exudes a more dark and less technicolor picture, whereas the new version is a form of morbid humor and feels as if it's the introductory theme song to the show and more closely matches the style of Portal 2 as it's source material. It's a whimsical kind of scary, but here in the original... here it's just scary.
This one is almost like the reprisal at the twist where... you truly find out the nature of everything, despite seeing it all before.
The Pit Song darker version? HA! More like my bedtime lullaby!

There is a full version of this- it's called "The Pit Song" on Harry's channel here.
In the background is a concept version of GLaDOS, the sphere and ring. Also the way the voice is played and everything just gives it this creepy and dark tone.

This one is much darker. I kinda see what you were going for in the new one, but this has a much more conventionally oppressive atmosphere to it.

This soundtrack sounds like it's being told by a robot who just escaped from the underground, and lived to tell the tale. While the new version is being told by the same robot that listened to him and continued to spread the word by mouth.

Whilst Chell's story is over, So Many others are Yet to begin. Portal introduces the concept of Portals, Portal 2 Introduced most characters, and gave a faint timeline and background to the events and employees of Aperture, But not a single characters fate was revealed. There are many prequel scenarios available: Doug Rattmann, Engineers who worked on GLaDOS & Her Activation [A good way to explain How Chell survived Bring Your daughter to work day, and how the morality core was attached...
