    Wow, pretty heady stuff, not sure I'm ready for that but great job explaining it. Of course the easiest way to fix the background footage would be to just reshoot it until you have it right...LOL 😆

    Great video. I really like your content, and it's helped me a lot. Thanks.
    However, I am not that clever, it seems.
    I basically use Hitfilm Pro to edit my drone films. I like to add 3d models of upcoming new buildings in my city. For this, I usually just need to find the horisontal "ground plane" where I can plonk down my very crude 3d models.
    For this, I use the neat camera tracker. I get a lot of different coloured points. I select a bunch of spots that seem to correspond to the level ground. This usually is a lottery. It goes so and so.
    Do you know if there is a better way of determining the horisontal ground? Can I choose just one spot and maybe add a xyz-coordinate system ...or maybe a spot or two on a vertical bit of a building?
    Very confused here.

      That should be very easy to do, especially if you're working in an urban environment... harder if it's a rural enviroment with rolling hills, etc.... The problem is that it will be very difficult to explain all of the nuances here in a UA-cam comments thread.       Jay, how do you attach your 3D object or effect to any point on the timeline after foundry gives you all the points to choose from

    Great vid. Didn't quite get the manual stuff. Big question: what was the business of masking out the hen and buggy, when they still were part of the end product!?
    Am I right in thinking, basically, biggest task of camera tracking is finding the correct positioning of the ground plane? To stick buildings.
    Etc on?

      To get a good track, you need to make sure that the track points are on non-moving objects only. That's why I removed any track points that were on the moving objects in the scene (i.e. the hen and the buggy).

      @HitfilmSensei OK. Thanks! Not sure I get what good tracks are, though. I'm filming a construction site, from my drone, where I just want to add up coming buildings (I make boxes in Blender and add images, and oh boy...that's another kettle of fish). So, all I want is a ground plane that is perpendicular to the other, already existing high rise.

      @@martinmchugh001 Perfect! So you will want to track the ground and any other points in the shot that are not moving. The Foundry Tracker assumes that nothing in the shot is moving. If there is something moving like a person walking through the site, trees swaying in the wind, etc... then you want to remove those points. Otherwise, the track will slip and when you put your 3D virtual buildings on the ground they will slide along the ground because the track isn't good enough. You will want to choose points that are close to where you are putting your building on the ground to make sure they don't shift around in the shot. Getting a good track is the most important part of what you're doing! If need help, please let me know.

    great vid.. can you feather around the 3d models and change lut appearance on them? change colour and brightness of them with this hit film app so they blend better in scene?

      I have no idea, but it doesn't matter, because you can reorient everything the the "Center of the Universe" and all will be right with the world.

      Th initial track will always be off if your footage doesn't match frame rates with your Hitfilm Project settings, it will also always happen if you don't pick enough correct tracking points that represent your floor.

    Sir, I am using hitfilm pro 12 but i dont have The foundry i.e camera traker option in Effect ,,, How to download extra and advanced effect ?? It is possible to add extra effect????

      I am afraid that The Foundry Tracker comes with HitFilm Pro 13 or higher. The only way to get it is to upgrade. The good news is that since you have Version 12, you will get a discount on your upgrade. Go to FXhome.com and check your account to see how much it would be.

    Man, this video makes me REALLY want HitFilm Pro... But in the part where you are making the matte, couldn't you have animated the position with the normal selection tool?

    Do you think adding the Auto Stabilizer effect before the Foundry tracker effect would help in any way?

      I have played around with stabilizing footage first (the old way, not the new way), and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. It just depends on the footage. Either way, you have to render out the stabilized footage into a new video file to then apply The Foundry Tracker. I think if you want to to be more stabilized, then absolutely stabilize it!

    Kinda sucks they dont have any advanced motion tracking for express (mocha, foundry, pfp), but I can see why, it looks so useful

      They do, but only in HitFilm Pro. The reason is because FXhome, the maker of HitFilm, is required to pay Boris and the Foundry for access to those products for every license of HitFilm out there.

      @@HitfilmSensei Reason i ask because in turbosquid you can buy some awesome animated stuff but wasn't sure if it works well in Hitfilm or you need blender

      @@GarethOwenFilmGOwen I am using the free model and animations at Mixamo.com. I am not sure about the Turbosquid models. Yes, these are FBX files with there corresponding animations, but they don't directly import and work correctly in HitFilm. You have to run them through Blender first. On Friday, I will show how!

      HitFilm Pro Version 13 came out in July, 2019. If you owned an actively updating copy of HitFilm Pro when that came out, then yes, you will have The Foundry 3D Tracker.

    Hey again, it's me, a the target of the problems here! I don't get my object visible other than in perspective camera mode. My object is a Particle simulator as 3D layer and it disapparated after I 'created a scene'. Also i don't see those green and red points there at all.

      Is it possible that you have flipped over to the Layer Tab? Look at the top of the Viewer Window to make sure that you still have the Viewer Tab (and not the Layer Tab) selected.

      You can get hitfilm pro on humble bundle for 30 bucks look on humble bundle for the film makers bundle n scroll down your see some bundles hitfilm pro is the 30 buck bundle but hurry before time runs out I think you got 15 days but iam not sure check there website to be sure
