Keep is as a xr4i for years everyones been doing them up as cosworths would be nice to see a xr4i again 👌
Go for a stroker kit, think it was 3.2, they sounded really fine, XR4i would be my choice for the rebuild, not sure where you would source the panels though
@@Taz6688 i worked on those engines when they were current, 2.9 was better than 2.8 due to the siamesed heads. With careful attention these could be taken out to 3.6 litres, with reworked injection and flowed big valve heads. These would give 250 -300 crank hp. The holy grail for performance was the BOA cosworth 2.9 v6, these when fettled and fitted with slide throttles and 7000 rpm could give 350+ hp. Much more if you went the turbo route. These engines would give real sierra cosworths a run for their money and would be a drivable road car. They were also more reliable they tended not to blow head gaskets or munch pistons.
I always preferred the look of the 4i rear quarter windows then the original two door setup...
"doesn't look that bad"......the only person you are kidding is yourself.
Id hate to see a bad one….😯
Yes but if everything on it is replaced with new parts it will look and drive like new again. Watch this space! 😊
I've seen classic minis worse than his get put back on the road and go for big money
Send that shell for blasting you'd get most of it back in a bag ! Good luck with it . Good to see it being saved.
My dad has one of these in his shed, he bought it over 20 years ago with the idea of restoring it. Its still there all ripped to shreds. He still hasnt got round to it!
Interested in the build but.....replica touring car cossie rep £180,000 dream on lol🤣🤣🤣
Contact Paul Linfoot Racing and asking them for much for a FIA papered Sierra Touring car replica is, I know for FACT you don’t get much change for £200,000 for a brand new build. Look at my previous videos of the Cosworth day, I show the replicas for sale. An they are selling for that price aswell 👍
@@TwinEngineCorsa you won't get a Paul Linfoot touring car replica by patching that mate people will pay daft money but you'll be replacing most of that shell with new panels to get anywhere near the same page as £180k 🤣 Paul Linfoot doesn't patch anything and wouldn't start off with a shell like that i can guarantee that😄😄😄
Well your wrong pal because he has and he did. So 🤷♂️
@@stevenorris4121 Get Paul Linfoot on here then to show he's used a basket case with knackard windscreen pillars as a base point for a 180k race car....👍
Haters are gonna hate buddy, simple fact of life😂
TRIGGERS BROOM
Man I feel old looking at this car ...I remember sitting in one in a ford showroom... brand new 😮
Wow, the optimism. You have 2 doors, that's it! I wish you the best with this one, I would love to see it completed.
Amazing! I think one of the brake lines looked almost perfect and the rest of the parts can easily be replaced. Definitely worth it. Also it has freed up space in that chap’s garage. Win win 👍😊
Great video again! The sierra ain’t bad for lying in a flooded garage for all that time! You we’re lucky to get back quarter panels for it aswell! Should be good to see it getting rebuilt
Cheers Brian, could've been a lot worse couldn't it!
Can't wait to see this one finished
Nice can't wait to see the next episode sierras my childhood favorite car.
My gsi had new sills and b pillars rebuilt only 8 years in a barn so it's all fixable great work so far lads ! Keep it up
Best place for this is the scrapyard by the looks of it 😢
hahaha..12 months ago, that mate is a gonner!
Really great video, keep em coming 😀
Appreciate that! Will try our best💪
No other video? I bet when he cut the camera off he sat down crying as the sierra fell through the ramp into dust 😂 love an optimist
Nice project car and amazing work
Some amount of work done already, as others have said, for what it is and where its been sat it's not too bad at all 😎👌
This really is taking me back to the days when my dad had a 4i. We went all over the place in it and also into Europe during the 80’s chasing BMX race wins. I later bought one, near identical to dads (white with blue Oxford trim) and loved it. Oh how I wished I still had it……
Incidentally, I read many moons ago that the design of the rear quarters were loosely based on the Porsche 928…..👀
Not just a pretty face.. turns out he's actually a nice guy too😁
Fair play mate thinkin of others with that display idea
Cheers mate, got to be waving the vauxhall flag high haven't we😉
Love the channel mate keep it up.
Thank you mate!
I'm doing this to my hatchback soon :D But it's ordinary 2.0 dohc 1992, still beautiful and loved.
Hey Mate, Great video series, I'm originally from the UK Bramhall in Cheshire and have a Merkur XR4Ti here in Florida which I'm turning in to a Cossie replica, she and 1989 not as bad condition so I'm looking forward to following your progress through the process and to see how she turns out. Cheers and best of luck mate.
I was at NY500 at the weekend, looked at the XE engine, it’s work of art, wish I could get my XE as clean as that 😂
I’m a Vauxhall man but still enjoy the the great videos on other breeds, interesting to see how the Sierra comes along. 👍👍
Love it
£180k for a replica, wowsers!! Fab content, cant wait to see how you get on with this
I think that's a bit optimistic to be honest.
In my younger years (as if I were old) I had a few of these and all of them were to far gone rust wise to restore... Unfortunately there are none left over at my end for me to buy and restore but that's just how it is.
This makes me happy to see though :)
Love the 4i after owning two of them, but is this too far gone?
In the UK you can get a really nice road going XR4i for £12000.
Fair play 👍
Круто , сиерра почти как у меня ))) надо и мне так восстановить)))
Been waiting for this can't wait to see if it gonna be original or resto mod... Twin turbo st 220 I hope as every one does st 170
What do you think then?👀
There's a lot of barns in the uk.
Got me subbed. Gonna be nice
Thank you pal
Exhaust looks good, is it for sale?
If the crossmember is the same across the models, I have two NOS ones, genuine Ford items.
U know where any shells are available in uk ?
It looks like you could have bought a pair of Sierra doors and built a car around them! 😉 no seriously this car is going to be amazing if you go for a stripped shell with a cage, fuel cell in the boot and powerful engine with a limited slip diff. Go for a full on Bathurst touring car replica in yellow with the B&H livery.
There are quite a few 3Dr 1.3 Sierras still knocking round Germany. €2k-€3k for a nice one. Respect for saving this though 👍
Any news of an update to this. Can't wait for the next episode. 👍👍👌
were is part 2
I might have a 4 door hatch back boot if you need one
Is it possible to come and see the sierra! I have one myself in much better condition than this one but still needs some TLC. I’m so excited to see what you do with this and such an amazing find! Would love to see it in the flesh and it’s progress!
Is this car finished bro?? Are u in Scotland ?
That thing is fragged, you guys have some balls
What’s going on with this? This video is why I subscribed and no updates 😂
Is there any update on this build..?
That fuel tank was salvageable!
Totally different shel than that cosworth tho bro ?? It’s my dream to do this bro .. get in your actually getin stuck in ignore the negative comments mate
There’s one of these for sale in Liverpool for £1000 if you need anything for it
Elle est devenue quoi la sierra XR4i depuis 1 an?
Crazy to think people use to burn these out.after joy riding all nite
Yes definitely cosworth swap it
Buy a USA merkur and use shell
Would be a great shame to chop this up in order to build a replica.
Deserves to remain true to its form.
Tigers broom springs to mind. " this old broom has had 5 new handles and 3 new heads " atleast if you where restoring it to original you would have more to work with?.. ie the running gear. Surley if you only want the shell them you could find a much better one?.. I would rather see you turn it back into a xr 4 it would be much more impressive.

Shame its going cossie root . Mate you need do a review on Gary lyods minkers mate .he's saddly passed away but he was a massive sierra man.
Already filmed, was supposed to be released already but due to the circumstances I have put it off.
Lad I knew around 1997 had a red xr4i
1 month since this video , any updates?
Not that bad??? 🤣😂🤣
All the neigh-sayers… 🙄 That’s all fixable…
I’d still go for an original XR4i restoration though!
Not too bad , think it'll just polish out.....
Many of these ended their lives banger racing.
They found that sierra at the bottom of a river
Where is part w?
Where is part 2
What’s happened to the rebuild
When's the next video dropping ford Sierra
When's the next video on this
Doesnt look much like a Cosworth to me? More like a dreadful old V6? Bearing in mind how rotten it is, wonder if its even worth doing?
Hi mate subscribed , this is deffo repairable , look forward to the progress , u wona see a bad ford check out my rusty on my channel I’m restoring ,
£100,000 for a xr4i? There’s 3 on eBay moted all under 20k
£100,000 for a FIA new build touring car XR4i replica. An that the estimate from Paul Linfoot who recreates RS500 touring car replicas which you don’t get much change from £200,000. I don’t know the market so I take people who are’a opinion 🤷🏻
30k no Fking way. 22 year ago weren't that kind of money to do one up into cosa replica my 3 door 1983 1.6 l model. There wasn't a bit of rot on it
Warum?
as much as i love sierras (i have one myself very not std or original) its a terrible shame to butcher the rarest type even given the state its in in order to make yet another cossy replica drift machine
180.000£ for a cossie REPLICA?!?
Brand new build RS500 replica touring car with FIA papers you don’t get much change from £200,000
@@TwinEngineCorsa wow jesus. Also kudos on your bright outlook on life, taking on a project like this, with this optimism isnt for everyone
....if you were being perfectly honest....it's not too bad condition....
what a minging car lol
The car is a joke. I thought you were going to say that even the tank is not in bad condition....
Resell it. You will never get all the rust out the seams . Hugh amount of work to repair. The amount of metal and replacement , just get a new old shell
I repaired worst than that in the 90s
🤣🤣My dads bigger than yours
@@abbzb2083 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Ha ha
Only having a bubble mate 😚
I think its a waste of time money and especially parts that a cosworth could use later. If the shell is that bad the chassis must be similar too. Just an absolute steaming pile of lol it will always be pointless way more money into it than could be taken out because of the level of bodge it will get i can never see a pro builder looking at this and think YES.
Ide focus on the citeron that looks cool. I love sierras real mans car but this one looks like its way far gone it would mayb make sense in 50yrs in this condition but 3-4k and you can have a much much better start point today. This will eat that budget and still look like that.
F it you got mu sub prove me wrong lol ill be watching so you win that round i guess cos i never subscribe to car channels theres a million of them to flick through. I have the only UK car channel i need COSSIE ADAM and COSSIE PAUL guest starring often you know who they are.
Doesnt look too bad at all now its stripped . Seen worse 10 year old vw's 🤣🤣.
Omg how many times do you want to say " but it's not that bad" jesus I had to stop the vid my head was done in.
But it’s not that bad 🤣🤣🤣
@@TwinEngineCorsa LOL good luck with it pal. Keep fixing these old cars we can't lose them and be left with the Morden shite we have now.
Fair enough you wanna do a cossie replica. But don't use an already rarer car to do it. That's ridiculous! You don't butcher am XR4i to make a cossie. So many more basic sierras out there. Sacrilege😥
In my opinion you are just wasting your and the guys time and effort. That car is only good for one thing-the rubbish dump.Cannot believe people arewasting time on such a piece of scrap!!!
Some may see this as bad but for a welder fabricator it’s not much. An if we all thought this way old cars would never be saved.
Na, keep it original.
Absolute snotter ,I bet this won’t get finished, just far to much to do
No more up dates heart breaking we are working on one if you want to see some photo just tex me Mem
