I'm doing it with minced beef (and adding the toasted rice powder and some dry ginger and coriander powder in the pan while cooking to absord the meat juice); But whatever, for those who never tried this kind of recipe, you have to ;)
I"m amazed at how you can cook any ethnic dish (regardless of your pronunciation of the dish or your accent - which is charming) perfectly and you are very good at instruction - thank you - I really enjoy your videos and have learned a lot.
This was so good. I exchanged the mint with sweet thai basil and had it with thin slices of pointed cabbage. Very healthy and yummy. I am definitely making this again!
I'm Thai and my grandmother and aunt used to run a famous Issan restaurant in Bangkok many years ago. Ground chicken is more authentic with this dish. If you want pork, I would suggest marinating the pork and grilling it first. I made grilled pork (moo ping) larb style for dinner tonight. Love that you cook Thai!
The toasted rice should be sticky rice and it needs to be darker! And no need for pepper or lime juice to the raw ground beef. Please enjoy it with sticky rice! Also you need some Galangcal and kefir lime leaves.
“I don’t know if Jacob will be happy with that but I don’t care” 😂😭😂 me as a wife. I love you seonkyoung!!! I’m learning how to cook through your videos and fooling everyone daily 😂😘
do you know what annoys me about your videos, every food you make, makes me hungry but when you eat it soo delicious what am i supposed to do???? I wish I could reach through the screen just to smell...sigh :|
One of my all time favorite dishes. I get this at a wonderful little Thai food cart here in town and it never gets old. Now I know how to make it. Thanks!
I just made it with ground turkey, and it is sooo good!!! =) And yes, it doesn't get any easier! Thanks for sharing! I've just added it to my collection of go-to recipes!
This reminds me of when my oldest attended Chico State and we would visit him during the weekends and take him out at some Thai restaurant close by and they would serve this. Love it!
I just made this with ground chicken. Thank you SO much for this recipe. It was extremely easy to make in a short amount of time. I put it over a salad instead of rice since I'm trying to watch my calories. Thank you again!!
This looks amazing, I can't wait to try to make it... and I love your hair in this video. You are not only talented and entertaining but also so beautiful!
Thai people don't stir fried ground pork with cooking oil but we stir fried it with chicken stock/broth or even water. We don't want Larb to be oily. Anyway, I am glad that you are a big fan of Thai food.
Fantastic recipe - I served as a lettuce wrap and added a few chopped fresh Thai chilies for my own taste. Will make many times going forward - delicious!
this dish is amazing!!!! I order this all the time at my local restaurant, I love it better now that I can make it myself! i made it with some left over steak from the night before and thinly cut it! delicious!
Steamed sticky rice would go great with this dish. My mouth is watering right now and I want some really badly now but it's 10:23pm and I gotta work at 8am tomorrow. Lol.
I love to garnish mine with cherry tomatoes that are cut in half. I don’t like rice powder so I use cashews instead to get the nutty flavor. This is one of my favorite recipes from Thailand. Love it!!
Just made this for dinner tonight and it was AMAZING!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing all of your delicious recipes. My taste buds and belly appreciates it!
I really love your recipes and I have made many of them very successfully. In the past however, I didn’t like your super excited voice. In this video, your voice is much more calm and normal and I LOVE it! Please consider using this voice more often and thank you for your wonderful recipes!,
This is a good and easy recipe for larb/laab. My parents make it with beef, tripe, finely minced lemongrass, mint, and this other herb as well. We also buy the prepackaged rice powder at the asian store. I'm sure they have more ingredients in it tho, but this is the key to laab because it just do not taste the same without it!! :)
I have used dried thai chili powder but it still was not spicy no matter how much I added, so I now break the traditional larb rules and add chopped fresh thai bird chilies and its much better...I also use thai basil in mine cuz it adds so much great flavor.....new here but I love your recipes, channel and smile! Hope you are having an awesome day!
My boyfriend and I just made this tonight. It was delicious! We were debating which recipe to use, yours or a Thai recipe UA-cam channel's. We decided to try your recipe and it turned out so good! Tasted so authentic like at a restaurant. Thank you for the videos! I will definitely try more of your recipes. You are now my source of recipes to try!
Very nice dish!! The fam loved it. I made the toasted and pounded rice to sprinkle as you described, and everyone really enjoyed that with the other great flavors. This is a new house staple. Thanks for showing me how. Peace out.
we eat it as a lettuce wrap. my cousin's wife is mien, obviously has some similarities/influence with lao, etc so she makes this all the time at potlucks and she puts lettuce on the side so we can eat it as a wrap. i love it, i can eat so much and never get full
Looks sooo good! Lol and you're super cute and funny! Love all your videos! Btw, my family is from Laos and we pronounce it "Laab" but with a silent the b.
My dear Seonkyoung, albeit for the IRIE livestream of yesterday(July9), I'm here seeing how to make the Yummy Larb and its easy enough for a novice like me, so not having any thai red chili flakes, I guess I could substitute hot 'n spicy chile de arbol flakes? Thank you and to your cameraman(Jacob)for sharing your WONDERFUL uploads of Asian at Home! :)
you can also use raw or cooked beef as meat for the laab and also add in some lemon grass, for the rice powder you can get prepackaged ones at an asian supermarket.
after watching a few of your videos I'm just going to say this... You are so nice and positive and always smiling, that i can't help but smile too :) I will try a couple of your recipes as soon as i can find all the ingredients. It's a bit difficult from me, but it looks delicious :) PS: keep up the great job you are doing :)

Larb or Lahp is the national dish of Laos. It originated in Laos...a very classic Lao dish.
Yeah the Thai folk are getting all the credit from a dish that was originated from Laos. Sad.
I’ve made this so many times! It’s amazing every time! Thank you!
This was so good. I exchanged the mint with sweet thai basil and had it with thin slices of pointed cabbage. Very healthy and yummy. I am definitely making this again!
+Saekkestol Yummy!!! Thai basil works so well for this recipe!!
Growing up my grandma made it like this. Very authentic, glad she passed down this tradition.
In THAILAND, Larb is never sweetened.
No palm sugar.
No sugar.
No stevia either.
The toasted rice makes Larb sweet enough.

That's our National dish (Laos🇱🇦😊)

I love this recipe! I've made it so many times. I like to mix my shallots in with the warm pork to soften the harsh onion flavor. perfect every time

Since cooking Asian food at home, Larb is my main dish for breakfast and lunch. I cook several variations...yum!
I just made this with ground chicken. Thank you SO much for this recipe. It was extremely easy to make in a short amount of time. I put it over a salad instead of rice since I'm trying to watch my calories. Thank you again!!

Also, for spicyness, we love using fresh red chilis :) either pounded or finely minced, it's a whole new level Lol!
the only time I've ever liked tripe is in beef larb and a Cambodian tripe soup my friend's mom made.

I tryed your GalbiJim aswell.. and my korean friends here were deeply impressed .. very tasty too.. love your chanel..
one small thing, we typically use sweet rice for the toasted rice powder instead of jasmine. though I do understand that jasmine is easier to find!
try it with raw beef and extra spicy thau chillies, i love your videos!
no, no palm sugar no sugar at all in this recipe. and the leafy delicate herb should be added at the end.
Omg, love this! I just had fish larb the other day. Can't wait to try to make it myself using your recipe.
