Money isn't bad or evil but can be a route to it as it's an easy idol.

7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(M) For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined-and everyone undergoes discipline(N)-then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.

Make the money, but don't make the money make you! But yes, more money can still be used to add value to our lives but also other's lives.

We all need to learn that money is always a means to an end, and never the end itself.

As an entrepreneur, I usually work hard a lot for the money. But at the end of the day, I surrender myself to GOD and say that your's will be done.

    Money corrupts the soul..
It's subtle, like the devil's voice..
It slowly becomes your god over time and you loose your soul..

I just retired. After a long career, conservative spending habits, and tremendous blessings from God I’m doing very well. I would echo what Solomon said in Ecclesiastes - enjoy life. Eat, drink, enjoy your work. If work so consumes you that you don’t have lots of time to do enjoyable things then your focus is off. If work so consumes you that you want to kick the dog when you get home your focus is off. Don’t save all that money for a later day that may never come, or if it does you’ll be too old to enjoy it like you would when you were young. Don’t be cash rich and experience poor. Always be generous to help those in need.

Cutting into the heart of the matter. I have to analyze it.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

We should not trust that money serves us without God, that’s it.

i don't know why but at some point some of Pastor John's advice is to become more religious. but becoming more religious does not at all become equal with being godly. i don't know some of this advice bring more introspection making us even more look at ourselves which could breed pride and self-righteousness or pride driven by guilt. ive seen countless christians I know to have possessed this quality. that is as if they deserve God's saving grace more because they are less sinful. no one is more righteous except that which Christ has already purchased. i believe if i would ask C. S. Lewis or Chuck Swindoll or Charles Stanley about this matter, their advice would've been different. there's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying life because God is not killjoy anyway.
although i agree, Pastor Piper's propositions were right, but again, i guess, when he suggest that we should draw more lenses to ourselves could breed pride which also has paralyzed me for a while. in the end, John Piper is not the Bible and we should also search the scriptures to even more grow in the understanding of who God is. what do you think?

I appreciate your perspective. It’s difficult for me to delineate my own personal desires from sinful desires. I grew up with really unreliable cars that my parents had. We’ve always paid cash for cars and early on, and for quite a while, our vehicles were substandard, to be sure. Today, we have nice, reliable vehicles and even an extra “fun” one parked in one of our children’s garage that waits for us anytime we visit them. It’s not a financial burden, but it is also not a necessity. We are frugal and generous, but there is always more we could do. What I just presented is a true to life case study of diminished joy as a result of overthinking. I’d be interested in other thoughts.

Those who have obscene amounts of money the Lord does not work with.
Lord provides only enough money to pay for lifestyle that he sees fit,
Not unlike why he only gives no more adversity than what you could handle,
The Lord's mercy is eternal & he is compelled not simply obliged that you may also live eternally forever more.
Ask urself who during your life has done more for you even when you had previously never even met each other yet.
