Whoa! I did also have the same struggle. I've been trying to cover this struggle by fronting that I still read the Bible, praying and attending online fellowship. But God reminded me that I can never ever cleanse myself by doing good works. Jesus saved me from the penalty of sin. Now I am repenting and trusting Him to save me from this entertainment slavery and not my good works. Thank you Lord Jesus for the salvation I received. I'm praying for all brothers and sisters out there who also struggled in this area during this trying times.
I have been praying what things/hobbies that I can do that would still glorify God, but somehow I spend more time in doing my hobby than meditating on the word of God and spending time with God. This really encourages me to read the Bible and spend more time with God than doing others.
"I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food." -Job 23:12, NASB I read God's word and study it before I eat breakfast every day! Get in this habit of putting God first in your life every day! All for the Glory of our God and Father. Amen.
It's good to be discerning about the content we consume. When I first became a Christian I met regularly with another Christian and we would both open up to each other about various struggles. This helped us to be accountable for how we used our free time and focus on the Lord in a better way and less unhelpful distractions.
We should CAP our sin as often as we are aware of it, and the good news is that we can start at any time. CAP = C = CONFESS our sin specifically A = ACCEPT by faith that we are forgiven and made holy by Christ's blood P = PRAY honestly and earnestly for grace to overcome the sin ...Forgetting what lies behind, and pressing on towards the goal of the upward call in Christ
I was 5 years of chronic illness. Semi Housebound, lost my health, job, finances and my fiance left me. I couldn't even look at electronic screen for 5 minutes, or hold a 10-minute conversation. But God did an amazing work. And if he can do this, he can do it in you also. 😇🙏 I now have a Christian Channel where I encourage people and show them what God did in my life and that there is hope for you also. *Keep believing even when it's hard* 🙏❤️🙌 *All things are possible with God*
I'm very housebound due to chronic illness... but I watch (or listen) to tv often especially on unwell days.. I'm in my flare up season, so it's worse health wise than usual.. just part of my story.
@@staceypatrickgracefullyove1950 Thank you for sharing. I am going thru some health issues also. In process of getting blood works done to determine what's wrong. I get so wrapped up in the symptoms i sometimes put God on the back burner. Its easier to pick up that remote and flip thru channels. ALthough i don't watch the crime or horror movies. I mainly watch christian content on pureflix or amazon prime. I am a bit hooked on the love reality shows like married t first sight or 90 day fiance. I need to stay focused but being home all day is so distracting especially with my strength levels so its not like i can exercise or clean up (I get dizzy and faint after a few minutes of exertion). Please pray for me to remain strong and steadfast. I will also be praying for you Sis. Gods blessings and mercy to you all in the name of our Saviour and Lord Yeshua Messiah.
@@Needabreathru Praying... Have them test your blood pressure standing up. I have something called POTS. The tip off is, it causes passing out and severely low blood pressure when standing.
Hello you guys, I too suffer nay ENDURE a chronic illness. Ever since I was a little girl the tv has been my best friend. In fact, I believe the tv raised me. Now that I am 'disabled' the tv is my narcotic. It halts the pain but then leaves me full of shame. Finding all satisfaction in Christ is a process through the Holy Spirit. I enjoyed reading your convo. I am 34 and I endure MS. God bless you.
"Assurance of salvation does not primarily come from the analysis of the past but the God given earnestness of present and future faith and obedience" - John Piper Interesting thought.
More than interesting, it is Biblical: Philippians 3:13-15 "forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way..."
Netflix, youtube, emails, apps, tik toks are so distracting these days and addictive lol!! The digital age may be slowly distracting us to death have to be careful ! 12 ways your phone is changing you by Tony Reike is a great book!:) I find getting walks in nature or exercising without your iphone helps or listening to the bible app or just going to gym, swimming, dog parks, volunteering/helping others etc:) Jess
I’ve been considering whether I should take a break or even get rid of my device because of the amount of time it spends distracting me. This is helpful, thanks.
Not just tv alone but this should apply to everything we involve ourselves in, from tv, to music, to conversations ... This is what we should question to become aware in the "now" time of anything we participate in.. 10:09-11:06
Same things i did before but i am praying to the Lord that He will give me desire to love Him,.. and Praise God He gave me that desire. Right now in my everyday life i cried out to Him everymorning thanking Him that He gave me a Savior and that leads me to Loved God more as i have been Loved unconditionally🙏💖
God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit is my everything! ESPECIALLY in these times. We must look to the eternal. I/we need God’s Word in our heart that we may know it, love it, treasure it! The Bible/God’s Word is true treasure. We must cling to God our creator for dear life. Hold onto faith do not let go. Pray, love, trust God, read God’s Word. 🙏❤️
Have you herd the saying" you are what you eat"? Well same goes for your precious soul. Be very careful what you feed your soul and mind!!! Oh, be warned, please be watchful. When you feed yourself with gunk food, what happenes? You loose your appitite for healthy food. By feeding on Entertainment, you loose you appitite for God and His word. Draw close to The Lord and he Will draw close to you. Dont let Him go!!! Have you not tasted that the Lord Is good 😋😋😋💓 sweeter than Honey, His love Is better than wine? Oh dont go after what Will Never satisfy. Who or what can be compared to Him? Dont be like Judas who traded His master for 15 silver coins. Get alone with God every morning before you do anything, listen to sermons, there are plenty on UA-cam, Christian Audio books are a blessing. Read your Bible inplace of movies!!! Listen to songs, sing to God. Think about Jesus, what would He do? Follow hard after Him, Let Him be your Portion. Comune often with your Beloved. Give Him your Best, he alone is worthy of our Love. Be love sick, you wont be sorry.😋😍🙃😘💞💌 God bless you.
I want to Thank the email writer for her question and I suspect she is not alone in this question. I have been struggling also in this area, especially since we've not been able to attend church and fellowship with like-minded family in Christ. I needed to hear this message and I now pray that I put it to use & not just set it back down and go along on my empty journey. Thank you so much.
There can be almost an invisibible wall keeping us away from the word. Sometimes you must just push thru it, break it down . Also I find that I need to have regular time set aside for the word. If I'm in a different environment (on vacation or working out of town) I have to be intentional and plan word time in my day.
All our modern forms of entertainment are controlled by satan. The television, radio, and internet are some of his best tools to use. I don't own a television or radio. And don't use the internet unless I'm looking for information.
You are most definitely right. Satan does have control of most of things on the Earth. Thank God that the Lord has the supreme and final say so and control of everything, including satan. Thank the Lord we know how the Story ends.
Seek to glorify God in how you act and what you do. 1 Corinthians 10:31 "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." Can you glorify God with this thing? If the answer is 'no', you already know what to do. If the answer is 'perhaps' - seek to change how you act there, or perhaps you need to do something else. (there is a tendency to take 'maybe' areas of our lives less seriously than we should: imagine if you were driving down a road at night and you saw something ahead which 'may be' a person. Would you stop just in case, to be sure, or continue on as if nothing's wrong, despite knowing that something 'may be' wrong? Be wary when it comes to a particular 'something' and your default is to try to excuse the matter) If the answer is "Yes, but I place it first" - then you're going about it all wrong. We often try to 'mold God into our lives' rather than 'mold our lives after God.' Isn't He worthy? Should you reflect that, then, in how you live? I've a long way to go - but He is faithful. Seek therefore to glorify Him, and not place this life first. (seeking is active, not passive!) God does give us good things to enjoy in this life - gifts we do not deserve. They should not come before Him, or else they become sin to you (even if you know they're not sin in and of themselves: relationship with family, for example). I use broad and 'good' examples above. But use such applications in the more 'mundane' matters, too: television, videos, how you spend time with family, gaming, work, browsing the internet, etc: many things are less important than other things, and none are more important than God. Life that does not place God first will fall apart: He created this life, He created you, and He loves you, and He is, effectively, what is best for you (and Who is best for you). Failing to recognize these truths and to live in their light is going to make things harder, not easier, because (whether by word or deed) ignoring them is to deny reality. --- One final note: If your conscience is being shaped by God and His Word, and it is calling you to leave something or avoid something, don't ignore it. To do so is to say, in effect, "I don't mind if what I do here displeases God." So, -Is your conscience being shaped by God and His Word? (Seek that it should be) -Do you ignore it? (I sadly do at times) I'm far from perfect: but hopefully what I've written helps.
Thank you John Piper for this response. It feels like this message was for me, given that I have been seeking entertainment via movies etc... during stressful moments, as well as finding pleasure in these things, rather than God.
I have been a Christian for many years, and sadly, slow walked my faith for many years. I have always been a massive fan of films and entertainment but am realizing now how utterly detrimental that is in two ways: 1in terms of just how much entertainment I consume and 2 in terms of the content contained in that entertainment. Sticking to more measured amounts of entertainment and to more wholesome entertainment is the next big challenge I need to take on in my life.
Thank you for this timely post DG and Pastor John, much needed encouragement and reminder to us all struggling being watchful and faithful. Your audiobook of Christ and the Corona Virus was a masterpiece, praying for the Lord to allow Pastor John to narrate all his written books, atleast his favourite ones...please relay this suggestion to him, Oh what a gift that will be to the whole church. I want my children to grow up hearing Pastor John encourage us to enjoy God above all and do all things for His glory and our joy... Much love from the Philippines. God bless and keep us all during this hour🙏
Dear brothers and sisters i greet you in our Lord Jesus Christ Five years ago, I began to engage in faith. I started here in Croatia in the catholic church to visit mass and to read The Holy Scriptures. Very early on, I noticed that what is taught and practiced in the catholic church contradicts the Holy Scriptures and what Jesus taught us. In addition, some things in the Holy Bible were unclear to me and raised additional questions and doubts, such as: - If our God is the God of love and justice, why are we punished for the sins of Adam? Doesn't that contradict the principles of love and justice? An earthly father who is full of faults and weaknesses would not do such a thing, then how can we think such a thing about our Perfect Father? - How can a loving father throw his child forever in the hell? That also contradicts these principles. And besides, in 1 Timothy 2; 3 + 4: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." So, if this were really so, that in spite of His will, people will be brought forever to hell and not saved, this would mean that He can not enforce His will and thus He is not the omnipotent God, if we follow these doctrines believe. - Why does it say in some passages that Jesus is the Son of God, in others the Son of Man and in others that He and God are one? Although I kept going to the Catholic Mass, at home I no longer practiced the prayers of the catholic church, but started talking like a child to my Father (Matthew 6: 7 + 8 ). After a short while, I got the answer to everything. He guided me through a friend of my mother to the revelations of Bertha Dudde. Now I know that the Bible does not contradict itself. God can not contradict himself. The truth is not in the word, in the letter, but in the understanding, in the interpretation of it. Now I know that Jesus is God and our Father in heaven, and I understand all the processes and contexts, and through this I have come to know that He is the perfect Love and not the strict, punitive God. As he promised us in John 14; 21: "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. " 16; 12 + 13: "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. " 16; 25: "These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. " In the revelations of Bertha Dudde, His promise was fulfilled, just as every other of His promises was and will be fulfilled, for He never quits (Titus 1: 2) because His word is truth (John 17; 17) and all that will happen is what He said has (Hebrews 10; 23, Ezekiel 12; 25:28, etc.) My loved brothers and sisters, I ask you not to blindly believe me, but as written in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 19-21: " Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. " Before you begin to look, go into prayer and ask our Father Jesus Christ for enlightenment to put you in your heart, whether that's really His word or not. Do not read with your mind or knowledge, but with your heart, for knowledge (knowledge, understanding) puffeth up, love (heart) edifieth (1 Corinthians 8: 1), for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life (2 Corinthians 3: 6). ua-cam.com/video/RFK2kg6Qs0M/v-deo.html My dear brothers and sisters, the situation in Christianity is alarming, frightening and very sad and for that very reason the end is near, the time is up. Only in a very small part are the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5; 22) recognizable, and thus only a very few truly belong to Christ, for only those who enjoy the fruits and grow in them are of his (Romans 8: 9). "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…" Hosea 4; 6 I wish you a blessed day my beloved brothers and sisters, May the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ shine through your heart and lead you into the truth. I would urge you to listen to the other sermons of this seminar as well. This seminar is of unimaginable value and has changed my life and it can also change your life. ua-cam.com/video/StOq3PPfulg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/aCvZyZhsnzI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/BZLWyjFSuPg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Yec-dl36ZS0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/q3QrMWncxzs/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/3Q4QWfG1p5c/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/w6jNnmtjhWk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Dr81F-2zhvQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/9m3Whmhhl_Q/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/kfhqyuC0Qoo/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Rx-vU2wijEk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/cTwdeqaoPOg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/albA_q9ASQ4/v-deo.html
Can I ask what it is about Bertha Dudde that makes you belief she actually received revelations from God? I'm also curious about you saying, "the end is near, time is up".
As I grow closer to Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit has blessed me with discernment when it comes to entertainment and how I spend my quite time. I don’t watch anything that pulls me away from him. The entertainment industry is run by the beast system to pull you away from our Lord Jesus Christ. Turn it off
This really spoke to me, I think the thing that has been holding me back, is the fear of failing the Lord and repenting from my old ways, and telling the Lord I won't do something, but doing it again. I know that God is not only loving and merciful, but he is also a fair judge. If I say I won't do something again but end up doing it, can I trust myself?
Hello, I understand you completely. I am here afraid if my intentions and judgements are pure and holy. But the answer to my question will also answer yours; we can not build on our own but only on God. His spirit within you will lead you to the light and will make you want to take the cross on you. So ask for his help because alone we are nothing. And do not only ask but believe that he will give you what you need. God hates sin but loves sinners. He will always be the father waiting for his lost son to come back. And the shepherd to carry his sheep back. We just have to believe and follow his path and his will. I will pray for you Katelyn!
In this age reading the bible or any book and not having physical interaction with something for a few hours while praying can be difficult and is for many.. It is for me.. But i read and pray daily. Or at least i try but some times after work i am just so tired to read the bible, i just wanna sleep and zone out with a movie.... I pray everyday though. Especially on days i dont work. But God created us in his image and as it was in eden when he walked along side adam he desires the same today.
Last year on 16 December, I started a reading plan on YouVersion Bible app... the chronological bible in one year.... I got into it with a passion. at one point I was 83 days ahead- some sections have been hard slog with all the wars and fighting and killing etc.... but once into the New Testament, I have regained my zeal. I’ve found I really want to be in there. With only 15 ‘days’ to go, I’m keen to start the NT again for in here I’m really finding the good advice. I have finally found a good friend to talk about Jesus and have an awesome group who meet at my place each week for our bible study which we have introduced a worship time and communion after I requested it. I feel closer to God now more than ever yet I don’t think I pray well or long enough or often enough. I still feel strange about prayer.
John Piper is so right that anything that doesn't have God and Jesus at the centre is full of sin. Many people think that if films etc. avoid swearing, explicit sex and violence, they are morally sound. But nothing could be further from the truth. That said, I don't believe that Christians need to avoid everything that is godless. But we should engage with these things with our eyes open and praying that we are not badly influenced.
No, you must avoid everthing that is godless by all means!!! We are like sheep, easly led astray by godless people and Entertainment. You must seperate yourself, be In The world but not part of It for the Lord says, "come out of her My people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not recieve any of her plagues, for her sins are piled up to heaven. And God has remembered her crimes". Revelation 18:4,5
@@sherrymoredock4457 Wow! I was reading through the comments here. That is, after I said mine. You are exactly right! This is a 24 hr 7 days a week life. We can't be compromising. We are suppose to be Holy. Does anyone preach on being Holy ? It's a process, but we need to get serious and be on one side and stop wavering. This is why we need each other. I want a friend that will tell me the truth about God and not want me to fall. A friend that is also living Holy and/or definitely on their way. We need to know and seek God at all times. We never know what we are going to face next but with God we can do all things through Christ, that strengthens us Phil 4:13
@@sherrymoredock4457 I applaud the way that you want to be separate from sin. But I think there is a limit to how much we need to keep ourselves away from influences that have the potential to be harmful. Let me give an example. Between the ages of 17 and 34 I hardly watched any TV at all. I said to myself that it was almost all godless, so as a Christian I should better not watch it. But I think God showed me that I was being too strict on myself. Today I avoid a whole lot of things on TV and the internet, but I do allow myself to watch secular news, some films, comedy etc. It is true that these things have the potential to negatively influence me if I am not careful. But I think I am OK to watch them while kind of constantly being on my guard against bad influences. The alternative is for Christians to live in a little bubble that hardly interacts with the world at all, but I don't think we have to do that. Let me challenge you a little, if I may. Nearly every news outlet is thoroughly godless, because it doesn't base all that it says on the truth that Jesus is Lord. Do you watch the news? Or do you read news reports? If so, from what sources? Only from Christian ones? If so, which ones?
@@jacqbx In my comment, I said that Christians didn't need to avoid everything that was godless. I want to make it clear that I wasn't for a moment suggesting that we should allow sin in our lives. I just meant that we can allow ourselves contact with some godless things. Let me give an example of what I mean when I say that we don't have to avoid everything that is godless. One of my favourite sports to watch is road race cycling, and right now the Tour de France is underway. I really enjoy watching it. But we need to be clear that this event is thoroughly anti-Christ. Anything that is not from faith is sin (Rom 14:23), and the Tour de France is not acting in faith at all. It never mentions God or Jesus at all. So it is full of sin. But my conscience is clear about watching this. I think negative influences on me from watching it are low-level. And I find it enjoyable, which is good for my morale, and my morale is important because my life is a very hard fight. Do you disagree with me? Do you say that I should avoid it because it is godless? I am interested to know.
Oh my I am on the contrary to this one, we can rest in the righteousness of God, his justice, his works not ours. We can rest, watch movies, live in a restful mind, not be bound by works mentality, but rest in his care. This teacher did a 360 on this video, I always thought of him as graceful, faith-led, but he completely changed on this video. He spoke of works, repentance, and even threw the word obedience, the work is to believe in Him, the repentance is to turn from works mentality, and obedience is about obeying the truth of the cross. I would suggest practising communion 24/7 with God, watch the movie with God, sleep with God, eat with God, he will commune with you and guide you, he will never leave you, it is not about what we do but what he does for us.
I would answer this question like this. First off hobbies aren't sinful but we must understand that God comes first always i know ppl say that a lot but it is so important to understand what that means. So on with my answer i would tell that person too fast from entertainment and there hobby rather it be watching tv, playing video games, sports, ext and too allow themselves too read the bible and go into deep conversation with the lord talk too him pour out your heart too him and tell him your problems and by doing this you submit yourselves too God now you just don't have too read one book jump from book too book and get that spiritual meat because your spirit is starving and it needs too be fed Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone but every word that comes from the mouth of God this is so true. Also im going too say something that might be hard for you too hear but if you cant stop what your doing for at least 3 days then you might have a problem and you need too correct it and if it cant be corrected cut it off because now all your doing is committing idolatry this goes for watching you tube videos as well, and yes even watching the amazing John piper. Hope this helped remember too keep your eye on the prize which is Christ Jesus God Bless-Nick
Mr. C I’m not saying that haha. Matter of fact, whenever I’m anxious or struggling, I take great comfort in the Lord and talking to Him. I talk to Him all day. I’m saying what if you ARE engaging with the Lord, but sometimes you wanna indulge in a movie or game. Is that bad?
Kevin V. It’s bad on this channel. Calvinists don’t believe in any form of personal pleasure. They say the flesh counts for nothing. You may want to consider another channel.
Is it bad that I spend a lot of time watching Christian theology and sermons on youtube? I read the Bible, and pray. But is watching these videos a lot bad? Thanks
Haden Odyuo I think they meant that they are more dedicated to their false religion than we are to our true one. I heard this saying “Are you (referring the Christians) willing to do for the truth, what they (Muslims, witches, Mormonism, freemasonry (other falsehoods) are willing to do for a lie?” Witches are fasting constantly for destruction yet some Christians don’t even know what it means to fast. Sorry for the long reply but yeah, I think that’s what they meant.
@@followerofchrist9800 I understand your point and his point of view now. Thank you for your long reply. It is indeed true that they are doing so much for their religion while many of usare still asleep. May the Good God give us the sorrow that we need, and us keep firm in our faith and hope in His promise. Amen come Lord Jesus Come!!
people should measure their life by whether or not they are experiencing the fruits of the spirit. adding anything to the fruits of the spirit (church attendance, the necessity of bible reading, being involved in a worldly church "mission") is only going to increase your paranoia, if you are not praying for the fruits of the spirit. gratifying the deeds of the flesh will impact your experience of these fruits, but don't start from legalism. legalism is always man seeking to attain blessing from God apart from grace. this will kill you and only make you more resentful towards God and other people. being a sinner is the only way to receive God's grace and free blessing.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise to the God of All Comfort Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:2-7
Indulge yourself in God$$$ say no to tv, say yes to sermons. If you dont have a thirst for God, to follow Christ and to know more intimatly the Father, than you are in a most danger!!!
humans are flesh and have a sinful nature. receiving the holy spirit doesn't change your nature, but just adds an element of "choice" to our existence. Our flesh wants/ needs rest, as well as our soul. We are saved apart from works. However it looks is still "as saved" as another imagined version of it.
Tell Pastor John all about your sexual proclivities, don't hold back, go into all the details Pant pant gasp gasp, Ohhh Yesss ... and remember that God doesn't like you doing these things, laughing, singing, telling jokes, music, TV and radio, get rid of your cell phone and don,t drink any alcohol, tea or coffee, watch these videos for instructions on what you shouldn't do within your lifetime and remember GOD IS WATCHING YOU so don't blow it.
Stop, it does nothing. Learn to separate the two things. Be mentally tough, and stop being so soft. Your soul and salvation and faith are completely unrelated.
Having a hard time getting my girlfriend to stop watching these far left reality shows. As I type this she is watching a show glorifying drag queens. She gets mad about anything I say. We have claimed each other to be married before God 2 years ago but now I don’t think she was serious like I was. She keeps saying that she wants to get married. She’s catholic and I was raised baptist. I’m beginning to think that I’ve made a huge mistake and I should just be alone because I’ve had it with the fighting and all other stuff. I love her but something has got to give. And don’t get me wrong I have my fair share of undesirable attributes.
Brother I don't want to discourage you, but recently I had to let go of someone who I felt was going to lead me astray & further away from God. Breakups are hard I cried & cried, but months later I am drawing nearer to God & He is drawing nearer to me. He is purifying my heart & returning to me the joy of my salvation. I see it like this, I rather be single & close to God than in a relationship that is pulling me away from God. It's hard, it's not suppressing or ignoring my feelings & emotions, it's about surrendering. God bless!
Hello, I know it has been a while. But I would like to reply. I was like the girlfriend in your relationship. Everything that you wrote, reminds me of myself. Me and my ex said that we where married and that we would follow Gods path. In the end we only talked about it and we drove away. Only the small path will lead to his kingdom. I had arguments and saying that he was too extreme and that he was controlling. Little did I realize than that I was in the wrong and that I was blind. Please love is patience. But do put God before anything else and do follow his lead. Pray for her and lead her to the right path as she is under your command. Only God can truly open her eyes. But if God says it’s time you can not do anything than say amen. I wish you the best and I will pray for you and her.
The Bible 'book' = a compendium of fire side tales and fables, recounted orally , for generations by goat herders and primitive tribes from the stone age, until writing was invented, and then, many different sources, transliterations, and versions were copied and written down.. ''The Bible was created during a time where stories were verbally passed down over hundreds of years. Stories constantly morphed and changed over time, and the Bible is a collection of these. This is why it has the nearly identical flood story from Gilgamesh, and why Jesus has the same characteristics as Dionysus, Osiris, Horus, Mithra, and Krishna. The contradictions and immorality in the stories are not evidence that God is flawed or evil, but rather that humans invented him, just like the thousands of other gods that we used to, but no longer believe in.'' ..and to answer the questions of the many fears and mysteries of our universe, like 'thunder' and earthquakes, since there was no science yet. That was the old Testament.... The new Testes is also hearsay since these letters, 'gospels' and stories were written by the loyal faithful, the camp followers, not by objective historians at that particular time, or by any contemporary writers, and these tales were written many years after the supposed events of this mythical Jesus. There is essentially very little evidence of a Jesus in real documented history. A couple of spurious Roman reports, and all the rest anecdotal. ...but more importantly ...a jesus' existence is not an issue! A jesus is irrelevant without a god ! Then, many of these stories, but not all, as many were not chosen, [ There are more than just four Gospels but only these four were agreed on ], were compiled for one self-absorbed converted Roman Emperor in his Nicean Council, for his expressed purpose of conquest and control of the people of Europe for his Holy Roman Empire. He recognised that this was the perfect religion/mythology for the future domination of the populaces. Half of the stories were ignored by the Nicean Bishops and none have been proven to be based on fact. This 'Bable' book is backed up by absolutely no facts and no evidence. It is not proof for any god(s) ....(or of any jesus as a god...) The fables are intertwined within historical places and people... eg Egypt and the Pharaohs existed, whereas Moses and the Exodus did not happen...! It is a historical novel .... ie A book of fiction.. Only! The Bible book is proof of a book ... ONLY (certainly not evidence of any gods...) PROVE a god!
Thank you pastor John. I also need to repent. My problem is, I am both physically and mentally ill. Sometimes that makes reading hard and some days I cannot leave my house. I am single. I have tried to quit wordly entertainment so many times. I just dont know what else to do with my time and I get very bored and overwhelmed by emotions. I am wondering if anyone can relate and if you do, what do you do to spend your time in a better way?
Listening to messages like these on UA-cam, Christian music, even just listening to an audio Bible can help build faith in God and bring about personal edification. Know a pastor that says God has written a love letter to you, and he wants you to see the love his word offers you.
There is someone out there who is struggling even more than you are and they are happy and making it work. Help someone, it will lift the heaviness of self
Amen brother!
I have been praying what things/hobbies that I can do that would still glorify God, but somehow I spend more time in doing my hobby than meditating on the word of God and spending time with God.
This really encourages me to read the Bible and spend more time with God than doing others.
"I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food."

I read God's word and study it before I eat breakfast every day! Get in this habit of putting God first in your life every day! All for the Glory of our God and Father. Amen.
Please pray for me.
What prayers are you in need of?
Praying

It's good to be discerning about the content we consume. When I first became a Christian I met regularly with another Christian and we would both open up to each other about various struggles. This helped us to be accountable for how we used our free time and focus on the Lord in a better way and less unhelpful distractions.
I would love that type of friend. You can't trust people that you would think that you should be able to with the smallest tittle
We should CAP our sin as often as we are aware of it, and the good news is that we can start at any time. CAP =
C = CONFESS our sin specifically
A = ACCEPT by faith that we are forgiven and made holy by Christ's blood
P = PRAY honestly and earnestly for grace to overcome the sin
...Forgetting what lies behind, and pressing on towards the goal of the upward call in Christ
CAP is a great way to put 1 John 1: 9 into practice! It is the way to overcome in God's strength.
I was 5 years of chronic illness. Semi Housebound, lost my health, job, finances and my fiance left me. I couldn't even look at electronic screen for 5 minutes, or hold a 10-minute conversation.
But God did an amazing work. And if he can do this, he can do it in you also. 😇🙏
I now have a Christian Channel where I encourage people and show them what God did in my life and that there is hope for you also.

I mainly watch christian content on pureflix or amazon prime. I am a bit hooked on the love reality shows like married t first sight or 90 day fiance. More than interesting, it is Biblical: Philippians 3:13-15 "forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way..."

Great wisdom right there
I want to Thank the email writer for her question and I suspect she is not alone in this question.
The television,
radio, and internet are some of his best tools to use. I don't own a television or radio. And don't use the internet unless I'm looking for information.
@@rstegall9286 I think Satan has his hands in everything not just entertainment. Nonetheless, I see your point. Thanks.
You are most definitely right. Satan does have control of most of things on the Earth. Thank God that the Lord has the supreme and final say so and control of everything, including satan. Thank the Lord we know how the Story ends.
Seek to glorify God in how you act and what you do.
1 Corinthians 10:31
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
Can you glorify God with this thing?
If the answer is 'no', you already know what to do.
If the answer is 'perhaps' - seek to change how you act there, or perhaps you need to do something else.
(there is a tendency to take 'maybe' areas of our lives less seriously than we should: imagine if you were driving down a road at night and you saw something ahead which 'may be' a person. Would you stop just in case, to be sure, or continue on as if nothing's wrong, despite knowing that something 'may be' wrong?
Be wary when it comes to a particular 'something' and your default is to try to excuse the matter)
If the answer is "Yes, but I place it first" - then you're going about it all wrong.
We often try to 'mold God into our lives' rather than 'mold our lives after God.'
Isn't He worthy? Should you reflect that, then, in how you live?
I've a long way to go - but He is faithful.
Seek therefore to glorify Him, and not place this life first. (seeking is active, not passive!)
God does give us good things to enjoy in this life - gifts we do not deserve.
---
One final note:
If your conscience is being shaped by God and His Word, and it is calling you to leave something or avoid something, don't ignore it. To do so is to say, in effect, "I don't mind if what I do here displeases God."
So,
-Is your conscience being shaped by God and His Word? (Seek that it should be)
-Do you ignore it? (I sadly do at times)
I'm far from perfect: but hopefully what I've written helps.
It has helped.Thank you,and God bless.🌸
Amen this is so relatable! Please Lord help us all to live in obedience for you instead of being deceived by the things of the world.

Dear brothers and sisters i greet you in our Lord Jesus Christ
Five years ago, I began to engage in faith. I started here in Croatia in the catholic church to visit mass and to read The Holy Scriptures. Very early on, I noticed that what is taught and practiced in the catholic church contradicts the Holy Scriptures and what Jesus taught us. In addition, some things in the Holy Bible were unclear to me and raised additional questions and doubts, such as:
- If our God is the God of love and justice, why are we punished for the sins of Adam? Doesn't that contradict the principles of love and justice? An earthly father who is full of faults and weaknesses would not do such a thing, then how can we think such a thing about our Perfect Father?
- How can a loving father throw his child forever in the hell? That also contradicts these principles. And besides, in 1 Timothy 2; 3 + 4: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
So, if this were really so, that in spite of His will, people will be brought forever to hell and not saved, this would mean that He can not enforce His will and thus He is not the omnipotent God, if we follow these doctrines believe.
16; 12 + 13: "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. "
16; 25: "These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. "
In the revelations of Bertha Dudde, His promise was fulfilled, just as every other of His promises was and will be fulfilled, for He never quits (Titus 1: 2) because His word is truth (John 17; 17) and all that will happen is what He said has (Hebrews 10; 23, Ezekiel 12; 25:28, etc.)
My loved brothers and sisters, I ask you not to blindly believe me, but as written in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 19-21: " Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. "
Before you begin to look, go into prayer and ask our Father Jesus Christ for enlightenment to put you in your heart, whether that's really His word or not. Do not read with your mind or knowledge, but with your heart, for knowledge (knowledge, understanding) puffeth up, love (heart) edifieth (1 Corinthians 8: 1), for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life (2 Corinthians 3: 6).
ua-cam.com/video/RFK2kg6Qs0M/v-deo.html
My dear brothers and sisters, the situation in Christianity is alarming, frightening and very sad and for that very reason the end is near, the time is up. Only in a very small part are the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5; 22) recognizable, and thus only a very few truly belong to Christ, for only those who enjoy the fruits and grow in them are of his (Romans 8: 9).
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…" Hosea 4; 6
I wish you a blessed day my beloved brothers and sisters, May the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ shine through your heart and lead you into the truth.
I would urge you to listen to the other sermons of this seminar as well. This seminar is of unimaginable value and has changed my life and it can also change your life.

Hello,
I understand you completely.

Don't worry God will help you..Pray for God to help you to love and want to talk to him🙏🏻
It's the other way around, the soul reveals my entertainment habits.
Please pray for me ❤️🙏🏻
A self assessment for me. Thank you
John Piper is so right that anything that doesn't have God and Jesus at the centre is full of sin.
JKie mT Same here!! It’s difficult to find friends like that
@@sherrymoredock4457 I applaud the way that you want to be separate from sin.
This was awesome. God bless you.
It is not "natural" to enjoy the Bible but we are commanded to look to God's Word anyway. Cling to God's Word, OP!

Hope this helped remember too keep your eye on the prize which is Christ Jesus

Thanks
If you spend more time in any form of entertainment compared to scripture reading and praying... idolatry

The Muslims are way ahead of the Christians in this area.
@@mr.c2485 disagree, we do not have the same God.
@@mr.c2485 If the believe in Jesus Christ only
people should measure their life by whether or not they are experiencing the fruits of the spirit. adding anything to the fruits of the spirit (church attendance, the necessity of bible reading, being involved in a worldly church "mission") is only going to increase your paranoia, if you are not praying for the fruits of the spirit. gratifying the deeds of the flesh will impact your experience of these fruits, but don't start from legalism. legalism is always man seeking to attain blessing from God apart from grace. this will kill you and only make you more resentful towards God and other people. being a sinner is the only way to receive God's grace and free blessing.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Praise to the God of All Comfort
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Indulge yourself in God$$$ say no to tv, say yes to sermons. If you dont have a thirst for God, to follow Christ and to know more intimatly the Father, than you are in a most danger!!!

GloryGOD..."
please pray for me not to be so enticed by the things of this world. every time i repent i end up falling back into the sin of idolatry.
I was watching Matt Dillahunty, what happened?
I admit Facebook and instagram are distracting me a lot more than I like.
eating, sleeping, and watching movies! sounds like my kind of girl
humans are flesh and have a sinful nature. receiving the holy spirit doesn't change your nature, but just adds an element of "choice" to our existence. Our flesh wants/ needs rest, as well as our soul. We are saved apart from works. However it looks is still "as saved" as another imagined version of it.
Tell Pastor John all about your sexual proclivities, don't hold back, go into all the details Pant pant gasp gasp, Ohhh Yesss ... and remember that God doesn't like you doing these things, laughing, singing, telling jokes, music, TV and radio, get rid of your cell phone and don,t drink any alcohol, tea or coffee, watch these videos for instructions on what you shouldn't do within your lifetime and remember GOD IS WATCHING YOU so don't blow it.
awkwardly watches this on UA-cam...
Movies are not reality. I don’t think we watch entertainment to know how to be or even become.
Stop, it does nothing. Learn to separate the two things. Be mentally tough, and stop being so soft. Your soul and salvation and faith are completely unrelated.
Fools! Everything is entertainment - people need to occupy their time.
Quarantine habits, you allowed them to lock you up in yiur own home?? That's whats sad
God bless!
Hello,
I know it has been a while.
Bible has contradictions
The Bible 'book' = a compendium of fire side tales and fables,
recounted orally ,
for generations by goat herders and primitive tribes from the stone age,
until writing was invented,
and then, many different sources, transliterations, and versions were copied and written down..
The contradictions and immorality in the stories are not evidence that God is flawed or evil,
but rather that humans invented him, just like the thousands of other gods that we used to, but no longer believe in.''
..and to answer the questions of the many fears and mysteries of our universe, like 'thunder' and earthquakes, since there was no science yet.
That was the old Testament....
The new Testes is also hearsay since these letters, 'gospels' and stories were written by the loyal faithful, the camp followers,
not by objective historians at that particular time,
or by any contemporary writers,
and these tales were written many years after the supposed events of this mythical Jesus.
There is essentially very little evidence of a Jesus in real documented history.
A couple of spurious Roman reports, and all the rest anecdotal.
...but more importantly ...a jesus' existence is not an issue!
A jesus is irrelevant without a god !
Then, many of these stories, but not all, as many were not chosen,
[ There are more than just four Gospels but only these four were agreed on ],
were compiled for one self-absorbed converted Roman Emperor in his Nicean Council,
for his expressed purpose of conquest
and
control of the people of Europe for his Holy Roman Empire.
He recognised that this was the perfect religion/mythology for the future domination of the populaces.
Half of the stories were ignored by the Nicean Bishops and none have been proven to be based on fact.
This 'Bable' book is backed up by absolutely no facts and no evidence.
It is not proof for any god(s) ....(or of any jesus as a god...)
The fables are intertwined within historical places and people...
eg Egypt and the Pharaohs existed,
whereas Moses and the Exodus did not happen...!
It is a historical novel
.... ie A book of fiction..
Only!
The Bible book is proof of a book ... ONLY (certainly not evidence of any gods...)
PROVE a god!
Why would watching or listening to some personal entertainment be evil? This is the most ridiculous subject I've heard!
Tells you you are still lost. And have not yet been born again, and you are still the old person.
how so?

Learning to cook is a great low impact way to spend your time. It challenges your creativity and is an inexpensive way to entertain others.
There is someone out there who is struggling even more than you are and they are happy and making it work. Help someone, it will lift the heaviness of self
@@cindyc Thank you. Those are great options and I love what that pastor said. God bless you.
@@mr.c2485 That's a good one too! Thank you. I like cooking, but I could learn to cook much better.
Amen!
Please pray for me.
