The back of my hair is normal but the front is such an awkward mix of heat damaged and normal. I hate it but my hair is already too short and I REFUSE to cut it

I am so glad someone has an actual solution to heat damaged hair. Every other “natural hair UA-camr” says “cut it off🙄🙄” it’s not like it’s just at the tips of the amount of inches we’re okay with losing, its from the ROOT, ergo cutting just ain’t gonna happen

I straightened my hair ONCE in a longg time and got heat damaged.😑 But I guess it's my fault since I put too much oil I think I sizzled it. For weeks, every time I washed it, it smelled like burnt hair I couldn't get the smell out and I had straight strands in the front but it's going away now.🤔 My curl patterns haven't been the same (I mean I was never really natural because I had a perm before and never cut it but I guess the perm wore off). Every time my hair dries up it's just a poof with LACK of curls😒I don't wanna cut it off😭 BTW if you don't have a shower cap can you use a trash bag?

Elasticity treatments are great for restoring curls. There is Curlific by Aphogee and one by Ouidad. Steam treatments are also wonderful for restoring curls. With consistent use they improve all curls even if there is no heat damage.

I had extreme heat damage and I did not big chop. My curls have changed with just basic hair steps and patience. When my curls were looser I was good with that too because it's just not that serious, as long as it was not breaking off. I think we have taken this curl pattern thing a bit too far, just my opinion yall.

I big chopped last year and two months ago got my hair straightened at a Dominican salon and you know how violently they treat hair. I didn't even want to, my mom pestered me for weeks to "do something with that mop". It didn't even come out good. And now the few curls I had before are seemingly completely gone now, after just one straightening session. I just feel so angry, at myself and my mom.
Thanks for reminding me about protein treatments. I had one of those years ago and my hair came out very soft and tameable.

I believe this. In past pics my wet hair was flat and was wavy and pics NOW my wet hair has volume and is curly. Crazy what 9 1/2 months can do. Now I’m about to go get my hair cut to cut straggly hair off in the front and whatever is in the back in 2 weeks and I’m excited! Loved this video. Lots of people don’t believe you can revive your curls from heat damage but I’m living proof

I've been natural, no perm, for 4 years. My style was 2 strand twist. My hair grew a lot. I wanted to see how long my hair was, so I had my hair blow dried and flat ironed. I fell in love with the straight, long hair look. Dominican shops were my fsvorite. My roots are natural but stringy ends. Am I too late? My hair did not revert but I'm glad for your video. I'll keep trying.

Thanks for these tips! I've restored heat damage twice, but it took a long time and lots of hydration both times. This past time, I did protective styling for a while to give it a rest and I started using Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle conditioner and Urban Hydration's Coconut Oil conditioner for deep conditioning. I also used the LA Long Aid line for leave in and styling products. All of these are hyper conditioning and have helped my struggle curls start bouncing back.

Good to know. I got heat damage for the first time in my 8 yrs of being natural. I flat ironed my hair on higher then usual heat (455 degrees), and when I washed my hair tonight the very back is so stringy. The back is finer then the rest anyway and in the front and top of my hair I have several areas where the middle of my strands are bone straight the rest is curly. I'm so upset. My whole head looks unhealthy after this flat iron and it has never looked this way. I'm putting away the heat for good and doing nothing but moisturizing and protective styles for the next 6 months to see what happens.

I am about to try and restore my damage. Never had any before until I tried my luck and used a much higher heat then usual when I straightened my hair. Now I see several spots where it is heat damaged and a lot of it is smack dab in the middle of the strands. The ends curl and the root is curled but the middle is straight! ^ months of moisture and protective styles for me and no more heat ever.

@@kimberlynvanoy2867 I’m glad to report that it is in a much better condition than when I wrote that post, about 6 months ago. I’m using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and deep conditioning weekly( I used to use Ausie products with the 3 minute treatment in the US, now I’m back in South Africa using local products). I also did a major trim 🙈 about 4cm and it’s so much softer and happier. Lesson learned. I’ve even blown it out again, with heat protectant, on warm not high heat and it reacted well. I hope you’re able to find a routine to nurse your hair back to health.

Went to a salon for color & a silk press. I knew I should’ve stuck with perm rods. For the most part my hair is fine but I do have a GOOD section in the front of my head on the side where it’s completely straight from root to tip. & a small section in the back that I can see. I knew it was damaged when my hair smelled burnt. & I ran to buy olaplex no. 0 & 3 & deep conditioner. So far my hair remains soft & moisturized. & I know I’ll have to grow out the dead sections & cut it away. I just can’t cut rn bc the whole strands are dead! 😭 I guess it’s fine. I’ll slap some braids on my head & let it grow out under wigs. I guess the only good thing is my hair isn’t breaking off, dry, or brittle. It just has straight sections & on my first two washes a lot of that burnt smell went away.

How long Can one expect the hair to fully be repaired if your hair isn’t extremely damaged. I don’t have straight pieces . I have most of my elasticity from my dyed hair. It’s is very dry and frizzy. By using protein treatments, when can you expect for it to return back to my natural hair? How long can it take? How many times do you have to use a protein treatment to see results if your hair isn’t Badly damaged??

I can see which pieces are obviously fried. Thankfully I have a lot of hair so those pieces can be hidden. As for the rest, it's bouncing back. Gonna do these follow up treatments

So i did the big chop in February of 2019.So my grandma does my hair and she is very old school and gets offended when I inform her about my hair.Anyways so she convinced me to straighten it and I did.Now every time I wash it it smells like burnt hair and I’m sick of it.On top of that it’s none straight.I have length and have came a long way to love my hair for this to happen. At this point I’m thinking about doing another big chop and not straighten it because length doesn’t matter anymore my texture does.Any suggestions before I decide to cut it.

I would cut it but most of my hair is fine, it’s just the front/most noticeable piece of my hair is straight and frizzy and no matter how much I twist it or pin curl it by the end of the day it will be straight. Any advice?

I just realized today that my hair is pretty heat damaged. I only really straighten my hair maybe once a month or once every 2 months and I end up washing it out after like 3 or 4 days because it gets super oily, but I guess I just bumped the heat up too much when I did it a week ago or something.. Now it's like wavy/straight everywhere and it doesn't even look that bad, but I miss my curls!! Anyway, what do you think of the natural treatments that many of the blogs suggest (like mayonnaise, olive oil, etc.). Do those actually work? Also, how harsh is the Aphogee protein treatment? I'm worried that it will be too harsh for my hair.

I love argan life Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil, and their argan oil does not fail expectations. It has a fresh scent, that smells nutty, but without brassy overtones. It absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feel. I comb a bit into my hair roots, and when I brush it out, it shines! I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation. A review was not promised to the supplier in exchange for the sample but I stated that if I provided a review that it would be fair and honest.

Hey can I just vent really quick 🥺. I’m so insecure about my hair. It was so long but it was heat damaged. I thought that if I cut my ends it’ll regrow into something healthier. My boyfriend told me not to do it and I didn’t listen. I don’t know what I should do, I’m 16 and the last time I had a trim I was 13. I don’t know if my heat damaged hair can be revived. What should I do 😣

I loved this video so much, your very wise and what you spoke was facts 😍🥰, my hair is heat damaged, and more of the back part of my hair and side of my hair is, I do protein treatment every month after I take out my box braids & it does wonder. I don’t use heat but when I do it severally damages my hair and I hate it 😭, because I went natural 3yrs ago after heat damaged & relaxer ruined my hair. Now my hair is healthy, thick, full, and growing every month, with my box braids. I want to use heat but once use I use it, it damages my hair and changes it. So since I don’t use it, I’m gonan let myself use it once a yr or none at all. I’ve worked too hard to get my hair completely natural for it to damage my hair again 😭😩, any tips for me to prevent damage when I really need to use heat & how to keep it healthy after using it 😩?!?!

Is it unusual that ever since I started spraying my hair with se salt spray then blow drying it, the area lost hair, its chronically dry and wrinkly and won't grow as fast? My scalp also started to hurt when I would blow dry. I've stopped after seeing the damage. I used to have thick and fat hair strands now it's all super fine and dry!!!! I also found I've been using protein shampoo n conditioner that just makes my hair brittle. Ofc I've stopped all culprits mentioned. Trying to recover my hair. Pls help.
