The first guitar that I bought from artist guitar's was a telecaster around 2010. It has a belly cut. I've changed the pickups for guitar fettish 63 tele pickups. Changed the bridge for a Wilkinson with brass compensated saddles. And I changed the neck for an all maple fat profile. It sounds and plays amazing. But now artist guitar's are so good that you don't need to change anything about them.

Nice demo Brett. Great price for the beginner or pro. They didn't have this type of quality guitar for this price when we started out in the early 70,s. I remember having an old squire that wouldn't stay in tune. lol...Artist=Winner. :)

Proof that even a budget guitar can sound great in the hands of a great player. Interesting choice putting 250k pots with the buckers but it sounds great.

great playing and sound. i still have not heard 1 demo say they would buy one or if these can be played live with confidence. Fenders and gibsons were this price in the 1950,s, an ES 335 was $335 dollars an ES175 was $175 etc. These look great.

Hi Brett, what a beautiful sound you haveo have. Great mix. Do you mind my asking about what gear you use for recording and mastering? It's such a warm and full sound. Thanks for doing these demos. Would love to hear the full recording of the songs you play. Do they get uploaded somewhere? Your music is brilliant, really makes my day listening to your mixes.

Thanks, Mr Tribes. I run Logic on an iMac Pro (2017). Jamtrackcentral's backing tracks already sound pretty great so I don't have to do much. The guitar is via my Axe-FX III (indispensable for what I do here and on stage) and usually only treat it with the native Logic compressor, just a little. I mix at low volume and then a little louder to try and favour all elements. In Logic I use the 'Classical' master preset but usually dispense of the Multiband Compressor plug to keep it nice and open. The limiter never squashes, just keeps a lid on peaks. I have about four or five albums worth of stuff on my hard drives and no time to collate it all. That must change before it's too late. All the best to you. Thanks for watching.

@@BrettKingman Honestly Brett, if you could release a few collections of your music on some platform, it would be amazing for me and probably a lot of others. Your sound production is noticeably excellent and your melodies are superb which makes it really satisfying to listen to, there's a power that comes through.
Thanks for the information, much appreciated. Also, I just upgraded to Logic, do you know the way to change the meter within a song using Drummer? I can find the tempo track I just can't find the meter track. I have songs that have say, a bar of 6 then a 3 bars of 9 and such like. but the drummer seems locked to one time signature for the entire track. Any help would be gratefully appreciated, it's giving me a real headache.

You're a lucky man. You've got some awesome info from Brett here. You must have caught him with the right question at the right time. Regardless, the majority of that tone is from Brett's fingers!!! Eat them apple's first! Good tone comes from good fingers brother.

Just subbed brett ...as i realize that i always like your reviews ....and strangely ...i am wondering if it was you that worked in allans / brashs in the city ?- and from whom i bought my SG in 87/ 88 ? Still have it today ....but 2 grand back in 87 was a lot of money !
I retire it from live gigging as it needs a fret job - so just use it for recording -and that way ...i dont have to re-fret it ....a smart move methinks . Not only that ....but these "cheap " guitars have come such a long way - you can not feel so precious should they get pinched at venue or car i suppose .

The Brett Kingman band. I would be there & so would many more, to hear you. Fabulous soloing there Burgs. Is it a mirage or does the body taper away to accommodate the forearm of your plucking hand? Really nice geetar too!
