Wearing a helmet actually makes you less resistant to damage. The named guys always have no helmet (so, you know, you can see their purdy face) - and have higher stats. Therefore, helmets are a punishment for low ranking Space Marines. A right of passage, until they, too, can take on the heretic truly face to face.
This was pretty jarring because it happens before EVERY MISSION. Basically everything titus says is 100% accurate, but he still ever only gets THREE MEN But i do love that there basically is a part 2 to the campaign
Four men squad is the lore accurate size, that is the squad size in the Codex Astartes, which was written by Guilliman, who is the Ultramarine's Primarch, but the devs couldn't make four men squad work in gameplay, so they left it to three, despite not being lore accurate. Rogal Dorn's sons don't agree on the Codex, Imperial Fists successor chapters like Black Templars HATE it and aren't Codex compliant so not all chapters do the Codex four man squad formation for tactical squads.
Yeah it's pretty accurate. In a company of at least 100 men, all of whom are capable of taking a city by themselves, can only spare 3 men to fight hundreds of also super soldier men, but heretical.
I mean, they can't take a city by themselves, unlesss that city is entirely lacking in explosives or antitank weapons or even heavy machinery, a space marine only carries a few hundred rounds of ammunition and they're strong but they're not superman Now a space marine leading a thousand soldiers is another matter, they're ridiculously force multipliers because they can burst through defenses

The idea is not that limited Marines can cover that much ground (everyone can already agree there can't be everywhere at once) or even kill everything in the city (tho that's still an option) But my friends once described Marines taking a planet like this (we'll use a city cause both work) "they don't have to be everywhere or hold a long frontline, they deploy fast and hard against any concentrated enemy force, target of import or command structures, they strike lethal blows to the vital organs of the enemy war machine slaughtering everything in a local area They maintain maneuver and visibility and simply keep destroying the enemy any time they begin to recover or coordinate until eventually what is left is either no longer a true threat or is completely pacified, retreating or too scared to continue fighting Now this conversation was over the Great Crusade and mostly concerned human populations or very similar "normal" Xenos which the Astartes basically wiped out across the galaxy But you get the picture, now many of the factions in 40k are immune to fear or never retreat and have marine killers or equivalent over the top power So you see why the SMs might start to struggle sometimes 😂

Tyranids are swarming at every corner of the planet and there's probably only a 1000 Ultramarines present or less (cause Codex Astartes and all that) Tho I agree that they should at least have given more men when he's been proven right the third time.

To be fair, Captain acheran only has one company, so like 100 men in total at full strength. We see a lot of space marine corpses during the game, so we can assume he's taken some heavy losses. He allocates Titus, Gadriel, Chairon and 3 other men to the task. That's probably like 10% of his total forces. It's not great, but not exactly terrible either. If he gave Titus 2 full squads, that would be 23 men, which wouldn't leave him much to defend the system against the Tyranid invasion.
But usually lieutenants have the whole demi company under their command. So Titus can lead 5 full squads. But in game idk why he even a lieutenant - he never gets even one full squad. And why Gadriel is a sergeant if he doesn't have his own squad. And before final planet we can see even more than 100 space marines - 11 near elevator, 2 at armory, 6 near our thunderhawk and 94 with Acheron (9 full squads, 2 guards, standart bearer). Plus Titus, Gadriel, Chairon and also chaplain. So 115 in total. Btw there must be apothecary somewhere (every company has one and Titus mentioned him).

I hate how difficult it is to find stims in the game, half the time they aren't even in the obvious spot with all the grenades and ammo, but out of the way in the opposite direction of the objective.
I also had no idea until like at the last missions, but theres these green boxes stacked ontop of eachother, like ammo crates and if you melee them or shoot them they break revealing many goodies. Its like im playing half life again breaking boxes.

Yeah it really bothered me a lot about the game how little the captain seemed to be competent and how frequent actual marines in the game got killed seemingly.

It takes ages to go from there to the other companies. You start in the 10th as reserves as scouts as neophytes before you even become a space marine and take the surgery to become one. Then you start out as a full space marine in the 9th which focuses on heavy weapons. You progress from each company over time as positions also open up. It can take decades to go from one company to the next. 8th company deals with close combat weapons, typically being mostly assault marines with jump packs or bikes. 6th and 7th deal with regular tactical marines. 5th are actual fully fledged space marines by then after having mastered everything that is required of them. 5th go out into the galaxy and fight on as many battlefronts as they can. 4th deals with protection of the entirety of the ultramarr system. 3rd deals with fights only against xenos. 2nd company deals solely with defending maccrage the the temple which Guilliman was previously interred in and the chapters headquartesr. And the 1st is the veteran company that mostly has all the terminator suits and top tier gear. 2nd - 5th are main battleline companies however everything from 6th to 9th are all reserve squads. To get to the 2nd you have to be one of the more elite of the chapter having spent well over a century of combat mastery to reach that point.

@@Oppen1945 No primaris scouts are not a thing because all first born and primaris marines are all pulled from the reserve scout company who are not fully augmented yet. The ones that survive and eventually have gene seeds available from dead marines will eventually become marines of either firstborn or primaris. But until then all scouts are just neophytes. They have some augmentation but they are not fully fledged space marines. And the only difference between firstborn and primaris marines is the additional surgery pieces added on top of the already extant firstborn marine parts that the primaris upgrade requires.

3 men were bit of an overkill, we need to be more conservative of our resorces, next time you get 1 men and a big e bobblehead for moral support For real, in one of the multiplayer missions ai bulwark fell through the floor into the extraction zone thats off limits until you finish the mission so we had to pull through with two men
What drove me crazy was the fact leandros was perfectly fine with the artifact being used even though he had seen it first hand cause a ton of trouble with titus. that "twist" ruined the whole story for me. of all the people in that company (who were also with titus altho all over the planet) Leandros should be PISSED that the artifact was rebuilt.
As much as I friggen LOVE this game, the stim healing mechanics drive me up a wall. This video was just too perfect at pointing out the silly meta mechanics.

The funny thing is, if memory serves me correctly, 4 is the minimum number of Marines you need for a tactical squad in the tabletop.
Four is also a standard operating number for most military forces squads. 4, 6, 8, 12.

If you ever see wooden crate looking boxes, smash them, they ALWAYS have stims, ammo, or armor boosts, the game never tells you to do this

Just lob grenades or use the melta on hordes when you get hit. You'll heal back up to 100% if you have good aim.

For real, in one of the multiplayer missions ai bulwark fell through the floor into the extraction zone thats off limits until you finish the mission so we had to pull through with two men
What drove me crazy was the fact leandros was perfectly fine with the artifact being used even though he had seen it first hand cause a ton of trouble with titus. that "twist" ruined the whole story for me. of all the people in that company (who were also with titus altho all over the planet) Leandros should be PISSED that the artifact was rebuilt.
