      I’m from Minnesota I live in Kentucky. I’m thinking of doing a screened porch for a friend. I understand the difficulty of keeping the screen tight. She wants “pet safe” screen. She’s got cats. Idk. Lions maybe?? I’m CC wondering if the screen your using would suffice or if you have advice. Thanks much.

      @@wileyearly7051 Superscreen is our go-to mesh for any pet. We do say it's pet-resistant and not pet-proof because there have been pets that have worked their claws into the mesh enough to damage it. This is an anomaly therefore we say with very very very high confidence that the mesh will withstand almost all pets. And because of its well-ballanced visibility and strength, it's what I would suggest using in your situation.

    Wish I could've found this video sooner so that I could show it to my parents. I'm no screen expert but from what I could tell from the packaging of a screen it was longlasting, was darker than any other and made sure that mosquitos and flies couldn't get in. We only got one roll of that screen and where we put it still looks like new even after hail and a tornado came through my neighborhood. However, where my parents put there's the dogs have torn through it, the hail made work of it, and its breaking off the staples, bummer. Great video and it's great to know that I was right to trust my instincts.

    Great video. Superscreen seems to be the best in terms of durability/strength, but how much transparency are you sacrificing versus going with BetterVue or UltraVue? We're about to build a screened in deck (in Alabama) and have great views. So we desire the most transparent, but don't want to sacrifice much on durability/strength.

    • @ScreenMedic
      @ScreenMedic  Рік тому

      I responded to your other comment on my BetterVue video. Use that for the best view, but it can not be installed with staples like most porches we re-screen so we would convert them to an enclosure with a spline system. See the video here ua-cam.com/video/Re9XNoOuZJc/v-deo.html

      If it's a window screen frame then UltraVue is probably your best for transparency.

    TY for the video Chris. My mother has a screened porch at her home in NH. She keeps a metal bucket of birdseed in the porch. Chipmunks and/or squirrels have made numerous holes in the fiberglass screening to get at the birdseed. Will super screen or aluminum stop the chipmunks and squirrels from chewing their way into the porch? (I can’t get her to stop storing the seed in the porch).

    What type of replacement screen is highly recommended for a high traffic usage sliding screen door?

    • @ScreenMedic
      @ScreenMedic  2 роки тому

      We'd highly recommend the superscreen. It has a nice stretch that will take the abuse that comes with the side sliding screen door.

    • @ScreenMedic

      Unfortunately I’m not sure. I know aluminum mesh does withstand the grasshoppers. Maybe try one or two in superscreen and see how it goes?

    Is having a metal porch better than a wooden porch? Also, things a novice person must know (ask)when installers are doing the work? Thank you.

    • @ScreenMedic
      @ScreenMedic  2 роки тому

      Metal is nice for the long term as it's maintenance-free regarding future painting and if it ever needs to be re-screened it is easier and more cost-effective. RE; Things to ask......Look at the reviews and trust someone that has a high reputation. Ask if there are better options and then make those decisions based on what you can afford.

      Here in the Atlanta area my wooden porch is a magnet to Carpenter bees. They drill holes and then proceed laterally inside the board, so far nothing deters them and the following year those "babies" return to repeat the process. The former owner should have used PVC but she just wanted to make it look good in order to sell the house.

    What screen type would you recommend for a rental property? Metal or fiberglass?

    • @ScreenMedic
      @ScreenMedic  2 роки тому +1

      Depends if it's for a porch or a window screen? We do not recommend Metal for anything. If it were my rental I'd do superscreen on a porch. You rescreen It once and it's done. If Window Screen Fiberglass is fine but I'd also spend the extra $ and do superscreen now so you don't have to worry about it again.
