I’m from a country in which the term ”LGBT rights” doesn’t even exist. 6 years ago, I was in high school, gay, lost and depressed. Then I discovered this channel. I used to binge watch everything and fantasize about the future. Not the healthiest way of thinking, I know. However, this channel was my first realization that I could and I want to live a happy life. It planted a seed in me to make it a reality.
6 years passed, here I am, just finished moving to Canada. Of course, life is still hard, but this is the first time I can say I’m willing to live every moment of it. I feel alive.

The exact same thing happened to me 7 years ago (even if I live in Italy and there are some LGBT rights here). Mark saved my life when I wasn't able to call myself gay without feeling I was wrong. He showed me that there was a chance to be happy even for me, and he gave me the strength to come out for the first time. My eyes went from Donnie to Mark and both were watching that knife so intently ! Not sure Donnie felt comfortable, but kudos for not losing his train of thoughts during Mark’s little chef show !

Great video. I’m a 53yr old gay man with a straight best friend of 33years. Met randomly, I was a child of privilege, he was not. Polar opposites in a way that helps us balance our respective lives with the devil’s advocate approach. No one could have predicted we’d become brothers like we have, sharing fears and failures we wouldn’t with anyone else. I hate that some people assume because we are close that there must be/have been a sexual component… never, not once. We have been told by others that we bicker like a couple married 60+ years, which is a compliment because we can be harsh in our truths to each other but ALWAYS resolve things quickly and with love. Truly, one of my greatest joys in my older years is this amazing friendship from the days before we became who we are now. I hope y’all have as many/more years ahead too!

I met my best friend in college too!!! he's straight and one of the biggest supporters in my life, I love that he accepts me for who I am and all that I have been through. In Marks words "I'm in a safe space, when I'm with you".... I've realized that Mark has become my older brother in a sense, I grew up with him and found myself just by watching all of his videos, Thank you Mark!! I appreciate all of your wisdom and experience! You gave me the strength to be who I am.

Congrats to both of you for allowing your "common sense" to over-ride social pressure, and giving up the alcohol. I'm 69, and have totally abstained all of my life (except to try one drink several years ago - and I felt rather "guilty" for doing so), so I really don't know the internal challenge involved in making the decision to go alcohol-free. Over the years I've had a couple of room-mates who had drinking problems that I tired to support and help them out of - one successfully, and on not successfully. I celebrate the success, while being aware that the other was his choice, and not my "fault". Again, a big "congrats" to the two of you!

This makes sense to me. My best friend of many years now is a str8 guy and we just always bonded since we were roommates in collage. Nothing ever sexual we just bonded and still talk all the time. Both of our spouses are a bit jealous of our relationship but get it. It really is like a brother thing. I'm so personally grateful for him is he didn't give a shit I was gay coming out in collage. Just don't touch my junk I remember him saying and we're good.. It was funny and sweet at the same time. Now we just bitch about his wife and my husband together on daily struggles of making it work.
