  • Lyman Sheats visits the Today show sometime in 1993 and explains pinball to Bryant Gumbel (who apparently didn't learn anything from 3 years prior when Roger Sharpe had visited, ha!) This was around the time of the PAPA 3 tournament in NYC.

The pain in my heart is gigantic. I always wanted to meet him. A great loss for the Pinball community.

RIP to the greatest coder and one of the greatest players of all time. You will be sorely missed my friend. Batman 66’ and House of Horrors are absolute bangers.

The guy giving the interview didn't really sound like he's much of a fan of pinball lol.

3:51 oh these great pinball moments. He tries a couple times to make that multiball shot, starts flailing (at this point I'm concerned), then somehow ricochets it off of a bumper into his target. The interplay between skill and luck in pinball is always fascinating to me.

Gumbel was totally NOT impressed. He kept saying "HUH?" as a person who is completely uninterested in something would say.

Ball control is key, and Lyman is the best!!!! Braynt doesn't have a clue!!!

It looked like he was trying to pass it to the left flipper by bouching it off the bottom post on the right slingshot, but it hit the left sling. If he tried to do that that was a very good shot.

God love Lyman Sheats! He was one of the best! The Today show however could of picked the best "chess players" and said prove to me why you are the best at "chess" in 10 seconds.....and go!

Lyman is there labelled as just a pinball champ. He was so much more than that as his creations illustrate.

Did Lyman intentionally shoot the right cellar on Wipe-Out by right flipping to the left slingshot and into the cellar? If so, I think I could never get THAT good! GREAT VID!

The quiet achievers are Tommy Curren of surfing and Lyman Sheats of pinball and Katie Ladecky of swimming. I don't want to know big mouths on youtube telling us how we should do things.

Damn Bryant was completely disrespectful to the best pinball player in the world. "You didn't trap it" "You didn't make the shot". Are you for real dude?
