I was with a man who gave me the silent treatment a few times - sometimes for months! The last time he threatened to block me in an argument, I texted back "It's over" and I meant it. I decided that I didn't deserve that treatment. I'd grown up seeing my father do that to my mother and somehow subconsciously I'd seen this behaviour as "acceptable" - although on the face of it, I knew it was wrong. I stood up for myself, not just for me, for my future children. I didn't want them to grow up and think this behaviour was normal or ok. Best thing I ever did! Side note: I saw him a few years later, I was glowing and he was full of regrets and unhappy. His stubbornness and refusal to communicate had lost him not only me, but multiple good things in his life. This was a pattern in his life that he needed to fix. I was glad to be out of the toxicity.
Good for you! When we take action and say enough is enough, we also teach that person that their behavior is unacceptable. When we don’t stand up for ourselves, we teach them that it’s okay to treat people bad and there are no consequences.
My friend and her husband lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 kids and sometimes he wouldn’t speak to them for months. She finally put him out but the kids are so messed up!

I was resisting using the N word because I feel it gets overused out of context nowadays but.... I am seeing those traits here for sure. First husband did me this way, with me letting him live in the house that MY daddy helped us get, but I wasn't allowed to talk to him because he was done with me but we were both in college. It nearly killed me till I could break away. Our son was 5 at the time. What a doormat I was then. That was 1999. I'm an entirely different person now. Fumi's advice is spot on and if only I could tell my 1999 self what she's saying I'd have saved myself so much misery.

Oh my God this is very similar to my situation, if not exactly! but I left and I used my masters program as the means to leave him without him or his parents realising that was my way out. I chose the program at a university outside the city we lived in. It was the worst time of my life being married because twice i confronting him and he physically attacked me. Leave woman leave!!!

I had the same situation as this woman 5+ years ago. I can assure you that he has a whole other family. But is like you said, is about that child and is about self worth. “Don’t forget who you are.” I felt that in my soul and that goes for anyone, friendships and family members.

I have been in a similar relationship, when I bring up the topic of meeting his family, it's one excuse to the other and when talking to his family on the phone, he speaks a yoruba knowing I am igbo and I won't understand his language. However I ended it last year and now in my igbo culture with my new boyfriend. Thank God I never had any child with him... in the beginning I introduced him to my family but ruined my relationship with my parents and now I don't even talk to my parents and didn't even know when my mother died because I was trying to please him by staying away from my family for 5 years of that relationship 💔 😔
At the end of the day we weren't talking even living in the same roof but I had to move out 3 months ago and found peace 🙏, stay away from narcissistic, his rules or no peace.

I wouldn't have had a baby with a man I really don't know at all and then stay 7 years.... NO MA'AM! He is a coward because he knows what he wants and she knows what she needs to do for her and her daughter as well. It might not be easy for her but I wouldn't put blinders on just because I'm feeling the guy. We are observational learner's 1st. She doesn't need to question or maybe she does but the eyes and ears don't lie. I can love a person to know how to let go of what's not for me.
