Some are ongoing at the time of this post tho so I'll add a "*" beside them... I'll also add a quick thought about it that may or may not be helpful:
    (in ABC order)
    akumetsu -violence solves everything
aku no hana -weird kids are weird together
bokurano -is that a flying talking poo?
boku wa mari no naka -when peeping goes wrong (right?)
doll star -a superpower you'd never want
happiness* -it's actually the opposite... plus vampires... because that's cool.
kamisama ga uso wa tsuku -that's not how you garden
prison lab* -the first cut is the deepest
sachi-iro no one room* -stockholm syndrome but not really
saishuu heiki kanojo -well that escalated quickly
scumbag loser -she had it coming
sekai oni -dad had it coming
shibito no koe wo kiku ga yoi* -ghost girl saves boring guy
    sundome -strange and unusual boners
Hopefully people like and add more suggestions. I love the psychological genre and I'm always looking for stuff to read.

I've only read the popular manga titles. Except the genres I've mentioned, you can put some action-gore-zombie too, also war mangas as well. Just keep romance, slice of life genres out. Excellent list Swede!!! Monster has been a series I’ve been wanting to check out. Would you recommend it as a good intro into psychological manga? Unless you count Nijigahara Holograph, I’ve never really got into the psychological genre

You cannot go wrong with Monster. In many ways, it's one on the few series on this list that is purely a psychological series. So to answer your question, I'd say it's a great place to start!

Great video as always! Psychological is my most favorite genre with drama and mystery closely below. Here are my top 10 favorite psychological manga (using the Japanese names and contain series I've already completed/currently reading).
    10) I Am a Hero
    9) Onanie Master Kurosawa
    8) Ultra Heaven
    7) Nijigahara Holograph
    6) Kono Yo no Owari e no Tabi
    5) Tokyo Ghoul
    4) Aku no Hana
    3) Death Note
    2) Monster
    1) Oyasumi Punpun

      @joshgonzalez7129 6 років тому

Yes, definitely read Punpun soon, especially now that all of the volumes are out. It could become a favorite psychological manga of yours, and if not, then most likely a favorite slice of life series (or as I like to refer to it, "slice of hell" lol). I'm sure you'll love the series since you also love other dark psychological series such as Monster and Berserk. Hopefully you make a video specifically about Punpun since it's one of the few manga so highly rated on MAL but doesn't have and most likely never will get an anime adaptation. I'm essentially saying that your videos help give more attention to series that deserve it.

The Highschool Of The Dead and Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin hardcovers are the greatest I’ve ever seen but it seems there very expensive to print and not that many manga series can sell that well to keep profits high so it’s whatever. American Comics on the other hand don’t have this issue

  • @Morpheus451
    @Morpheus451 6 років тому

It seems I got very lucky. I read a lot of western comics but have only sampled a few manga series here and there trying to get into it. But among the very few manga on my shelves are the three _No Longer Human_ volumes; and I loved them far more than any of the others. I cannot believe these masterpieces are out of print. That is such a shame.

    My top ten psychological:
    Vinland Saga
    Vagabond
    Ookami no Monshou
    Gunslinger girl
    20th century boys
    Pluto
    I am a Hero
    Holyland/Rikudo
    Suicide Island
    Planetes
    11-15
    Team Medical Dragon
    Fullmetal Alchemist
    Berserk
    Gantz
    Death note
I haven't read any of the manga on your list except Tokyo Ghoul, Monster and a few on my list.
Tokyo Ghoul is my top30fav manga, It edges out top20psychological. The character progression is too abrupt; characters change so much that I don't care for them.
Monster, imo, is my least favorite Naoki manga I've read, i've only read the 2 listed above and this, will eventually read Billy Bat. I kept guessing what was going to happen next, which made this boring, but there was a few surprises. I didn't care much for any of the characters except Lunge, Grimmer, Dr reichwein and Braun. Dr Tenma, Dieter and Nina were just meh. Making Johan this absolutely genius killer, only to end up having him have an anticlimactic end was the lamest thing ever and brought him down as a character.

Sad fact : Osamu Dazai the author of No longer human, the book, killed himself after finishing it.
The book reflected a lot of his life, and when u read through it with that in mind it gives it a different, more surreal feel. The book is really great.

Nihilism Ya but It had a more satisfying ending when compared to Monster and other Urasawa works where we kinda are left wanting more.
Hence prefer that ending over others since it was very rare of Urasawa.

I don't get the top "10". Why not just "my top psychological manga"? It would both seem less redundant and much more personal (psychologically speaking [no pun intended]). Yes it would generate a little less views most likely; maybe that's what you are going for though, so who am I to judge, right?
Regardless, that's MY current top list (no particular order):
*Anything by Inio Asano, Naoki Urasawa and Junji Ito* - self explanatory.
*Livingstone* - Purely psychological and philosophical manga based on a stage play and drawn by the artist of Deadman Wonderland.
*Deadman Wonderland* - Mostly action but with a lot of psychological elements throughout. Very dark, very gritty.
*Tokyo Ghoul* - The most psychology heavy "humans vs X" series I've read.
*Death Note* - Brilliant two sided detective thriller. Insane amount of internal monologue.
*Liar Game* - Very smart manga, tons of inner strategizing and monologue.
*Btooom* - Fun manga in the "death game" format. (Battle Royale or Cage of Eden might be a better pick but I have not read these yet).
*Real Account* - Another "death game" manga with a completely different feeling; focusing more on social-media psychology rather than animalistic survival nature.
*Prison School* - The most perverted, brilliantly executed, psychological comedy. It's a masterpiece.
Honourable mention to a manga I have not had the chance to read yet - *Kaiji*
Huge emphasis on the psychological aspect of gambling. Really dark stuff.
Those are my picks and I would recommend them all. I've read part of most of your entries on this list and didn't put them in mine cause I have yet to finish/catch up on'em. Very nice list though :]
    P.S.
This list will change massively in the future as I'm chipping away at many series that have no English release right now. Take it with a grain of salt.
