I am also drawn by the aesthetics of the game. I would say, that of the Yunzi stones I have, the single convex ones are more optically pleasing color and texture wise. The double convex ones look cooler in a 3D kind of way. I like the shadows etc. I am sure the Japanese clam shell ones would be even more appealing. I love my bamboo board, and It is a real beast. I cannot imagine that it could warp!
Thanks for your reviews, they helped me choose to buy this set just now. Can't wait to get that delivered! Keep up the good work and I plan check out your tutorials
It is so hard and strong that I would use it as a shield if I needed one. The sound is nice and loud also, though not very deep. It is a bit tingy sounding. Hope this helps.
YES! Silk screening! Man that was bothering me! If you like the videos I do than subscribe. Every subscriber makes me happy and makes me want to make another video so we both make out. Glad you like them by the way.
I'm not sure if you've ever played on a "good" board before, but it really makes a huge difference Aesthetics seem to be a very important aspect of Go. .
Thank you for the comments. I am playing on making another one from a left over table from IKEA to show the steps. Be sure to stay tuned for that upcoming video. No, I have the smaller bamboo board. It is around 1 inch. I am going to add direct links for the YMI products, possibly a new video with all my go accessories. 2 inches should be pretty portable but bamboo is very heavy in board form. Thanks for the question
One of the reasons I'm drawn to Go are the "Aesthetics" of the equipment! I like the big flat stones ( can't make up my mind about the lite green stones thou). Any way I been thinking about getting that Bamboo Go board......Whats keeping me from buying it are some of the reviews on Amazon and one at YMI that the boards crack and /or come apart. So theduddha how is yours holding up?....You've had it a while whats the verdict?
I do got an extra if your interested. I'm just not sure about shipping costs. $30.00 for the 19x19. The other ones are not good enough to sell. But I do think my 19x19 is as good or better than most. Let me know. If you live close you can stop by to see it.
so, i want to learn this game, and i was looking online to buy one, but making it yourself likeyou seems like the better option. but i have some questions about selfproduction, I want to make a 13x13. so, i will go get the dimensions and draw the line on a peice of wood, but i have a question about the lines, do you need to carve them out a bit? or does it only look that way?
hey m8 its the type of wood you used not the bow in it. pine is a hard wood while bamboo is actually a grass not a wood so yes you would get a better sound from pine. Your welcome.

Pine is a good wood, and actually crafty unlike so many slap assed people who would've just lazily used a plywood sheet.

That seems like a great deal. I love the stones and bowls!
you should make a video on how to make one of the 19x19 boards
I will try to fit that in. The prob. is that I already have more boards than I need.

Silkscreened? I think that's the 't-shirt thing' you were thinking of. Anyway, nice video. I've been enjoying watching your stuff.
they actually use a sword and run the edge of the blade into ink that was lay out thin, then cut the lines... how it's made.
Maybe I'll try with my Christmas free time.
