I'm SO glad to see you doing HP soap. I love making it. While it has benefits, it also has challenges and you NAILED it, my friend. Please do more! I've also found (so has the soapqueen) that adding sodium lactate at then END of the cook helps with fluidity. I also keep the "bad boy" fragrances for hot process because acceleration, seizing and ricing are not problems with HP soap. Further, you will never have glycerine rivers or soda ash with HP soap. Awesome job, soapy sister!
Hi im learning HP method. Can you plz tell me the names of the youtubers I should watch or any other source from where I can learn HP soap making, like people you know that are good at HP. Also it would be nice if you tell the names of the ladies that are making swirls with HP
Thank you! You're my favorite soaper and I love watching all your videos. I'm a beginner and learning from UA-cam soapers. It's my new hobby when I can't sleep.and my cure for depression. I like that you explain the steps your doing and why.
Wow, I never thought they would turn out sooo good. I have never seen hot process before and it was so interesting. Thank you for having the courage to do something that you have never done before and to do it in public. Go girl.
I really like how you make your soaps, your one of my favorites, you really care about what’s in your soaps and the benefits of them for people and I like the fact you do them on low which I believe is better.
I just watched this again. I think I've watched most of your videos at least more than twice. I just love love watching your soap videos! They're so inspirational and relaxing. I did do hot process after watching this the first time. Now I'm wanting to do it again. They turned out so pretty and you're just so encouraging with your beautiful personality! 🙏 I hope and pray you and your husband are doing well. Thank you, Ellen and God bless you!
I am still brand new to soapmaking. I love working with Cole process and bringing in some elements of melt and pour for size and the one thing that always amazes me because to me it’s like magic is when the oils are blended together and if you don’t color them they have a certain hue .... Whether it’s a little on the green side or a little on the yellowish side and when you’re doing hot process I always think it looks like applesauce but then 24 hours later he got white soap! Chemistry and magic I love it. And the soap came out beautiful! I can only hope and pray that my First attempt at things come out it’s successfully as this did ❤️❤️❤️
I just started soap making and I really loved this video because it really shows what someone goes through when you're not 100 percent sure what to expect. "I wish you were here with me. Should I stop or keep going?" So pretty and such an amazing job!! Watched this while filling my molds 😊 good luck to you, and I hope you keep practicing with hp!!
Keep going! Making soap can be intimidating but with anything else, the more you read and try, the better you become. It's an art and when you are not an artist (or chemist) which I am not, it's even more challenging. You'll do great.
I so agree about soapers being encouraging to one another, and I love it! Sometimes I feel like we're friends even though I don't really talk to anybody in the soaping community. A bit silly, I suppose, but I love watching the videos and feeling the love of the art really come through. The soap turned out quite lovely as always. ~ Be blessed Sarah Anne
I love watching your videos! You inspire me as I am about to embark on becoming a soaker! I have my space set up and almost all my products. I am a bit nervous because I’ve invested a good amount of time and money to do this. But the more I watch you the braver I become. Thanks so much for all your videos! I am aspiring to be an all natural soaper because many of my friends and family prefer that, myself included! Thanks again!❤
My very first attempt at soaping was hot process on the stovetop about a week ago. And just tried my first cold process 3 days ago. I’m in love with both processes already.
Thanks for sharing, lovely soap. I make both cp and hp, my customers like the cp because it is prettier but I like using the hp soap. I make hp soaps when the fo doesn’t play nice in my cp!
It is true, the soapers are fantastic and supportive. I just started making soap this June and have dabbled in hot process a bit, but mostly I've done cold process and they are both so fun! Congrats on your first hp, it turned out beautiful! I've watched a few videos with stick blender hp that doesn't need a heat source! Yes, I shall be trying that too! Thanks for sharing your soap making, they are all beautiful.
i like the thought that the essential oil scent and benefits may survive the soap process more with a hot process method. and not having to worry about the soap seizing with essential oils.
God bless you. Nice job. I have been watching soap making for over a year now and am buying stuff slowly to get started. Almost ready. It is nice to know the community is friendly. Thank you.
I have never tried hot process but you have encouraged me today! I'm going to try my hand at this this weekend. You look like you've done this a thousand times! They are beautiful!!! 🥰 I love you, Ellen Ruth! God bless you and your family! 🙏
I’m only a year in for the soap world and HP soap is a challenge and thank you for taking your time and breaking up for us now I can’t wait to see if I can pool it off also…fingers cross ur amazing…
gorgeous. im going to start a soap and lip balm and candle business with my girlfriend. her husband is very happy about it.... watched a million videos and i want to say that you blew me away. i dont have the want to do hot process. it took me a few videos to think of do lye. i was going to by pass lye all together but found out lye is the thing that makes it hard as store brands. sooooo i have most of the stuff. you are very brave to do the hot process.
Oh my goodness, absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe this was your first hot process soap and it turned out THIS amazing! I really really want to try hot process soon. Very impressive work. -Shonna
Awesome Job! I've been making hot process soap for over a decade. I've made some beauties and plenty of disasters. One of the many benefits of hp is that you can use less fragrance because the lye is cooked out before adding them to the batch. I use the oven at a low temperature. My wife and I both Love this! Thank you!
You did a beautiful job making your first batch of HP soap. I started off making HP, and I prefer the rustic look. I also like the fact that the scents don’t fade like I’ve experienced with CP soaps. I truly enjoy watching your videos. I got interested in soaping about 8 years ago. I did a lot of research before diving into it. I was so afraid to work with lye, so I started off with melt and pour. Once I felt comfortable enough, I started making HP, and then CP. I love the soaping community. Everyone is very nice, and always eager to answer your questions. :)
I love hot processed soap making, I just can’t seem to get the cold process down yet..I love soap making & all of your videos help me learn! Thanks for making these videos love them!
I have been hot processing for 3 years I just CP yesterday lets just say I am not very good at it AT ALL!!! urgg its drives me crazy that I cant get it ..Good luck to my Hot process Soaper for trying to make the jump to CP!
Thank you so much for doing this hot process! I have been making HP for about a year. Mine always ends up chunky and rustic. I’m probably over cooking. I always trust your advice. 🥰
Hi Ellen, I just wanted to make a note that if you decide to make HP soap a lot, I've found this solution to be a better judge of PH. 1% Phenolphthalein. You can purchase it from Amazon and what you do is take a tiny bit of the batter and put one drop directly onto the soap. If it changes color AT ALL you know the ph is off. The strips are great but this "In My Opinion" is better. Just wanted to let you know what I've found. Again, Beautifully done, it looks amazing.
I'm excited for you. You are brave to do it live. I love it. Thank you. I'm considering doing it as well. You encouraged me. Keep it up and yes this video is very helpful for me Thank you
Well done! I'm a new soaper, I am teaching myself both hot & cold processes at the same time. I *much* prefer hot process despite attempts 2 & 3 being an almost volcanic experience. I really thought long and hard about why that happened and the conclusion I came to is my crockpot is half the size of yours. To do a full 2.5lb loaf pushes the limits of the crockpot's volume capacity. It also seems to get hot much faster at a smaller volume.
Started making cold process and rarely will make CP now, but love HP. No acceleration, ricing, glycerin rivers, soda ash.... absolutely loooove it. I should add that I don't sell my soap. I just love making it (addicted) and I gift it mostly to appreciative neighbors, friends and family and that's the only soap my family & I use. You did great (but, of course you did)! Thank you for sharing your first time. There's not enough HP videos out there and there is always something new to learn. ; )
Ellen you did so well, I was so pleased it turned out lovely for you. I don't think there's anything you couldn't give a go, if you put your mind to it. Can't wait to see what you do next time. I'm loving watching. 🥰🇬🇧🧣
Hi I'm glad I caught your channel I've made a face scrub with the same ingredients.. Ohh yh😊 and I've added coffee to the face scrub also it left my face SOOOOOOO smooth and soft. A nice detox to the skin😉🤗💌
My first soap was HP and you can use coconut milk like you did the yogurt Love It you did awesome on your first HP been making soap almost 8yrs. I've tried all different methods and like Oven Process to force Gel, doing 3 loafs HP next couple days it's the fast way and people seem to like the rustic look. Hemp butter is nice to💟
You did a great job looks beautiful! I just did my first HP last week but I did it in the microwave and it turned ok a little bit drying, so I should look into doing superfat and yogurt. thanks for sharing have a blessed day 💕
It's been a yr so late to the party. Anyway, often communities have have to do with hobbies usually are pretty good, though there can be pockets of negativity anywhere. Also, this was actually what I needed. I just learned about this. I needed to make soap fast for x-mas presents, just made my first batch today but it's in a week and can't wait for it to cure. I looked up and found hot process but was worried I can't make it look nice, until I saw this. Blown away!
Your video was excellent, thank you! I have had a break from soap making for a while, to come back and watch your inspiring video has given me a boost of enthusiasm and confidence. Thanks again xx
Hi Ellen, you did a great. I always do hot process. I have done 1 cold process , but I love what hot process does for for you skin. I add my shea butter after the cook, seems to make the skin more moistured, Keep up the great work.
I love ,love your soap!!!! so beautiful I use HP just for my shaving soaps and I always add yogurt ,cream and ACV but never any swirls or designs just plain ,now you inspired me ,Amazing 😱
Thank you for inspiring me!! To make HP soap. Today I made it, it was super fluid and I love how it turned out. Don’t stop making videos ever!! You’re my favorite 💕
Hello Ellen, I am a hot process soaper. I just watched your video and I was so inspired to let you know that you did an excellent job as this was your first attempt at hot process soaping! Keep up the great job you are doing!
They turned out so beautiful. 💕💕💕What kind of essential oil blend did you use please? I made my first hot process soap today. I absolutely fascinated buy it. I definitely will try this recipe tomorrow. I understand that the hot processed soap can be used as soon as it’s cooled off, versus the cold processed where you have to let it cure for 4-6 weeks. Love your Chanel. ❤️❤️❤️Thank you💕🌿❤️
very nice soap !!, and those swirls make it look better, the thieves mix I love it! , it smells clean! and its antibacterial properties make it even better, greetings from Mexico😘
Well Ellen, I take my hat off to you, as this was your first HP soap you really hit the spot - and you were daring to add a swirl ! 👏 Even after years of soaping I have not been able to make friends with HP soap - I only use it if I really have to rebatch. However, you inspired me to give this another try, watching the temp, plus choice additives to maintain fluidity and avoid common CP soap problems. Regarding the Thieves oil, I found an excellent combination product of 'Thieves' at Wellington Fragrances. No more figuring percentages.
Hi Ellen Ruth: You are so fun to watch. It's too bad you can't block those who are negative. Unfortunately that is the world we live in. I think people are jealous of other's success. Just let it go; the mean spirit they carry is their burden, nor yours Keep up the good work. Cathi
Wow, amazing Job!! I’ve done hot process soaps in crockpot but it would always thicken up so much you can’t do anything with it. I’m going to have to give this a try for sure. Thank you for the inspiration...
Lovely Ruth, well done! I only hot process now having done all the methods over the last 15 years. lol Sugar not only adds increased lather to the soap but acts as a plasticizer and rheology modifier. In short it changes the crystalline structure and the flow, giving more fluidity of the molten soap as well as preventing the drying out during the cook, clumping , cracking, brittleness and easy release etc... IMHO plasticizers are a must for hot process especially if using high temperatures. Melt and pour, liquid soaps use high amounts of plasticizers such as alcohol/polyols; sorbitol for example to keep it liquid or to be able to re-melt etc.. There are many plasticizer we can use but sugar is cheap and effective. Some hot process soapers will add a plasticizer at the end too...I usually add during the cook and at the end for a more fluid pour, especially if I want a less rustic top and if I need more time for fancy swirls. Blessings to you Ruth!
What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing this. I have wanted to do this for so long. I am an artist and hobbyists perfumer and have NEVER made soap before. Your have given me the courage to try this. I love the rustic look of this process. I think this would be a wonderful project for my homeschool mom's group. Thank you again!
Home Schooling is such a blessing. I think I have more fun than they do. This fall our group will do some pumpkin spice soap or something similar. It's a go :) So excited! Thank you also for the recipe and material list. It really is very helpful.
Way to go, Ellen!! Beautiful soap for your first time making HP. You've inspired me to try it. I've always wanted to try HP but just a little intimidated to do so. Thank you for the inspiration!!

I am a cold process soaper. After watching your video I now want to try hot process! Thanks you!
You should give it a go, it's fun!
I actually preferred watching this process than any of the otherS and from any other soap maker. This was so interesting and a nice change. Love it.
🥰 thank you so much 💕
Wow, I never thought they would turn out sooo good. I have never seen hot process before and it was so interesting. Thank you for having the courage to do something that you have never done before and to do it in public. Go girl.

Very nice outcome. Great creativity of the color blend.
I did see a UA-camr use a steamer to fix the ashy tops.
They look great.
So happy that you shared this! Ive been considering cold processed vs hot....nice to show us how to do both and the pros and cons too! Blessings!
Thanks! Yes, that was one of my main motivations for trying this, is so I can use some pesky F.O.'s that don't play well in CP😉
Thanks! I love the idea of adding the Shea butter later, I bet your bars feel wonderful!
I love ,love your soap!!!! so beautiful I use HP just for my shaving soaps and I always add yogurt ,cream and ACV but never any swirls or designs just plain ,now you inspired me ,Amazing 😱

I was just wondering about the difference between cold process and hot process soap making. Very interesting and these turned out so nice!
WOW! Your hot process soap is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Love the rustic top! I love watching your videos!!!
Thanks so much for watching
I love it.. came out so pretty.
You did a good job! I love making HP soap. The rustic look appeals to me, and you are right in that you CAN make swirls in it and add embeds as well 🙂
I really enjoyed this process! will be doing it again for sure.
Hello Ellen, I am a hot process soaper. I just watched your video and I was so inspired to let you know that you did an excellent job as this was your first attempt at hot process soaping! Keep up the great job you are doing!
Oh thank you!
Thank you so much ☺️ 💕
Well Ellen, I take my hat off to you, as this was your first HP soap you really hit the spot - and you were daring to add a swirl !
Those bars are beautiful! I don't know much about HP soap and definitely didn't know you could swirl with that!
i love this! I always watch your videos when i want to try something new and find them so helpful.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Ellen Ruth: You are so fun to watch. It's too bad you can't block those who are negative. Unfortunately that is the world we live in. I think people are jealous of other's success. Just let it go; the mean spirit they carry is their burden, nor yours Keep up the good work. Cathi
🥰💕
Wow, amazing Job!! I’ve done hot process soaps in crockpot but it would always thicken up so much you can’t do anything with it. I’m going to have to give this a try for sure. Thank you for the inspiration...
🥰 thanks, it was really fun to try something new!
Outstanding for your first time! I love the colors and design🥰
🥰 thanks
Lovely Ruth, well done! I only hot process now having done all the methods over the last 15 years. lol
Sugar not only adds increased lather to the soap but acts as a plasticizer and rheology modifier.
Thank you so much for the good info 💕💕
Hi Ellen, I've been to chicken to make hot process soap but not anymore! Thank-you!
Fantastic! Have fun soaping❣️
You are so welcome! I hope you give it a try. I got into soaping as a homeschool lesson for my kids!
🥰 thank you! I hope you give it a try, it's fun 💕
