So happy i followed my gut, and now after seeing this video im even happier i just bought this lens... you have a really interesting style and i like it.. cool stuff man, and subbed 😊
Awesome to hear! Really thankful for your kind words and the sub! Always follow your gut in life:-) I'm curious to know if you think my style in photography or on UA-cam is interesting?
@@ChristianAls your photography is awesome man. Thoroughly enjoyed the video as well. You do make some interesting suggestions. Very helpful for newcomers like me.
I know this is an older video, but I bought a 24-105 f4 this year, and I just shot a wedding with it. I LOVE the 24-105 range in a single lens for weddings, and the f4 aperture helps keep multiple people in focus while shooting weddings. I rarely go use a wide aperture when shooting people (depth of field is too shallow for my taste), but I used an 85mm 1.8 on a separate camera at the wedding for those times when I wanted/needed a shallow depth of field. The 24-105 is quite arguably one of the best and most versatile lenses ever made! Thanks for posting!
Hello man, how does this lens handle photos with external flash, is focus good, fast (also wedding photographer), I am kinda in doubt because of f4 maximum opening, hopefully you see this, thanks in advance.
Hay Christian, had my 24-105 for years, but it sat on the shelf, oddly. Only took it out a few days ago, been watching a few videos like yours on the lens and you have inspired me to get out there, cannot think why I didn't sell the lens, but feel really happy I still have it. It's great to tell you your decision to make this video is still influencing people like me, all these years later. So, thank you Christian.
The tip about shoot first ask later helped me out soo much! I usually think about if I should take a picture of someone or not because i don’t know how they’ll react.
Purchased 24-105 today but i wasn't happy about my decision had to purchase it because of financial constraints. But after watching your video I think it was a good decision. I know skills matter more than the equipment but having right kind of gear which enables you to apply the skills is important too.
Thank you! I just purchased this, my 1st, lens to go with my A7C and can't wait to be as accomplished and capture images like you do! Beginner to FF and moving away from my Samsung phone as primary camera.
Hi! Thanks for the video. I very much enjoyed it. I just switched from the 80D to the EOS RP (APSC to Full Frame). I find the size and weight make the RP a much better "every day" camera since it fits in my bag with a 40mm or 50mm pancake lens (much, much smaller in dimensions and lighter as well! Huge difference). But I picked up an RF 24-105 f4 L lens! Damn this thing is a beast! I must say, ALL of my lenses have been f2.8 (even on my zooms), and going to an f4 I can see the difference in double the light which I never worried about since I always had f/2.8 or 1.8 on some primes. But outside, the f4 is no issue whatsoever and that's where we are when we travel or go out.
You mentioned that all your lenses have been F2.8. And going to an F4, you do noticed a difference between the two F-stop. If you had to do it all over again, would you have pick the RF F2.8 24-70mm (to get "double" the light), or would you still stick with your recent purchase of the F4 24-105mm?
Wow, that’s probably the biggest compliment you could give me! Steve has always been a tremendous inspiration for me and a true blessing in photography imo! So thanks for watching and for your lovely feedback 🔥🙏🏻
I agree 100%. It lives on my A7iii all the time, either travel or just playing around. Unless I need a specific lens for a specific job, the 24-105mm focal length is so versatile. Thanks for sharing.
I just bought another 24-105 for my 5D II, I had one years ago and gave it away with a 50D when I bought a 6D with a 28-300 which is still my primary kit but I keep a 5D II in the saddle bag on my motorcycle. I had be using a 28-135 on it but sometimes I missed the quality and feel of the 24-105 so I replaced the one I gave away. I'm glad I did.
I love your example photographs. Well done, singing the praises of the 24-105. It makes me so happy I decided to order one for my new full frame camera. I've only had crop sensor dSLRs before and relied on my 17-40 as a walk-around lens, which was barely okay as it was only 27-64mm equivalent. On a full frame that 17-40 is too wide for those general purpose, ready-for-anything situations like you describe.
Hi Christian. I mainly use a Canon 6D with a 24-105 and 70-200. I have a 50mm and a 1.4x converter for occasional use with the 70-200. For travel, there is no question that the 24-105 is the one I would take. It's the Canon L IS Mk 1 lens, so it produces fine results even down to 1/40th handheld if necessary. Thanks for your interesting video.
Great shots and excellent advice too. Absolutely magical, emotional content. There are a lot of videos that show examples that make me think that, 'boy, there are a lot of different artistic preferences out there..." Maybe it is just that I have similar aesthetic sense to you, but all I can say is that your work is really inspiring to me.
Thank you so much! And so fantastic to hear your kind words on my photography! I'm especially stoked to read your comment about my work having an emotional touch to it.
Excellent video and images. The 24-105 is a great lens and underrated. But it's always about the vision of the person behind the lens, as your images show. Talent before technology!
Hey. I couldn’t agree more. I’ve actually never been into the tech side of photography! If someone asks me (and that happens a lot) which camera model to buy, I have no clue😅 Thanks for watching and for your feedback 🤙🔥
I've recently purchased a used 5Div and this 24-105 L4 ii for a very good price. This is a must lens for your bag if you don't have one. I researched several lenses like the 16-35 and 24-70 as well as this lens. I wanted a versatile " best bang for your buck" lens that can capture landscapes to portraits and this one fills the bill. Shooting a portrait where you don't have a lens in the subjects face frees up the stress on the subject. Capturing natural posses and expressions is the key to great photos. The wide angle is fantastic and both ends of the scale are Sharp and flawless in quality. Don't waste money on the others I've mentioned buy this one, you won't regret it.
I just bought the Sony 24-105 f4 for my upcoming 3 week travel to Indonesia. I will add the 50mm 1.8, but nothing more (i hope) :D I'm really looking forward to test this lens.
Christian, fantastic video. I am about to travel to Japan without my camera bag full (8.5kg). I have a Sony A7m4 + FE 24-105 and that is all I am taking this time. Your examples have inspired me. Following trip Africa, I still don't think I can leave my Sony 200-600mm at home.
When you stitched the photos in lightroom.. was it lightroom classic or Lightroom? Thanks for the video - I'm thinking of switching finally from my kit lens to this for everyday walking around.
I have to say when i got a bit serious in my hobby I switched from a 7D to a 6D and i bought a 24-105 F4 L IS. It was beside a cheap 75-300 my only glass for a year or so and i totally loved it. After that i bought a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC but for portraits i always took the 24-105 because it looks so much better (most used at 35 and 105) and now i am switched to Sony and i am thinking about getting the 24-105 because i now have kids and not so much time (in other sense) to switch lenses and i just miss the 85-105 and sometimes the 24. Now i have to switch between 17-28, 28-75 and the 70-200 and this is not always fun. Your video made me think back and the first idea why i switched was to get lighter and the 17-28 and 28-75 are extremly light (70-200 f4 G too) but…. I carry 3 lenses and if i think about it now.. that is heavier than one 24-105 and now i alway take the 3 because just in case… witha 24-105 i know i am freely enough and with 105 and getting closer the most 24-105 have a close focussing distance so you still can get good seperation, one stop of light is also not a thing to worry nowadays… thank you i really think i would get a 24-105 again.
Fantastic images! It's funny, I've seen plenty of videos and reviews with people carrying a Canon R5 and RF 28-70, literally THOUSANDS of dollars worth of kit, and they're taking boring snapshots. It's just proof that an artistic eye and time, patience, and practice is what makes a great image. This was a pleasure to watch.
Awesome to read, mate!! Thanks for your support and I promise to start uploading new content soon - the pandemic has hit my creative motivation, but I’m slowly getting back and miss making videos for my channel. Look forward to it😅🔥
You know, I've watched a lot of videos by some great photographers, on their technique and to a much lesser extent, gear. Not one of them mentions f/1.2 lenses, low light camera performance and frane rates. Their mastery of composition speaks volumes in the face of all the gear nonsense on UA-cam. The advice in this video is practical in the best way possible.
I just purchased this lens for weddings. I have watched every video review. Yours is by far the very best! Thank You. And thanks for the time and effort put into producing such a great video.
For me I am more about the F stop and sharpness being " good enough" and I definitely prefer the range and freedom of range to not be missing out on shots I know I will regret. I have the EF version on an EOS RP.
Very good video. Given the like. I have the same lens I bought with my Sony a7iii . I see you shoot some at 35 some at 60 some at 105 but how do you know at what number you shooting. Is there a reading that comes up omvatte camera for you? Just so I know how to do it. Thanks 😊
How is the dust sealing on this particular RF lens? I've heard photographers having a nightmare with Tamron and Sigma's current 24-70 due to dust getting sucked in to the lens due to poor sealing on the extending lens barrel. To your knowledge, does the RF F4 24-105mm L have a filter between the extending barrel and the main barrel to prevent dust from getting sucked into the lens? Or in your extensive use of the lens, have you detected any issues with dust [long term use]?
I got a huge dust into my old Tamron 28-75 mm, it gives a blob/flare in bright scenes when light comes in from the side. I thought about getting the new version, but I see the 24-105 is for sale for less than the new Tamron until January 15, and I see the Sony lens is very well secured against dust. I see some have used it extensively for four years without getting dust inside the lens, while their Sigma lens 24-70 is full of dust.
You could also get away with a 24-70mm or a kit lens like the 24-120mm, I've had them all, but this is my favorite of the bunch. So important to have (and as your basis when moving around) in order to be ready! Thanks for your comment!
This is super nice feedback! So glad you enjoyed my video and good luck with your new lens. Always keep it on😅 You won’t regret the lens or the strategy 🙌🔥
Really loved this video. I had an 18-105 F4 for aps-c that was SO FUN to shoot with. I'm excited to get a full-frame 24-105 someday so that I can be ready for anything. You really highlighted what I love about photography! Cheers
Hi Christian! Love your video, so calm and authentic. I just bought myself the first canon EF 24-105 f4 L IS USM lens for the EOS R and one of my big dreams is to make a living off travel and adventure photography. Is there any tips you could give a fellow photographer? :) Thanks a lot and much love from Berlin.
You are amazing. I’d like to know more about the 24-105 Peter. Is it full-frame and what brand? I’ve got an Olympus, so I’d expect I’d have to halve the size eh. Good advice regarding ‘grab the shot, then ask’. I’d love to travel like you, but in Nz, we can’t go (yet).
Thank you so much, so fantastic to read! My 24-105mm is a Sigma 4,0 full frame, and I use it on my Nikon D850 full frame body. I hope NZ will open up this summer (winter), so you can go explore the world with your camera again soon!
I have been looking for an all purpose lens to do landscape portrait street photography I have come back to this video about four or five times now and can I just say I love the video and the shots in the video this video has Definitely made me make my mind up and I will be getting this Lens very soon thank you for the video

Hey! Thanks so much. Amazing to get an awesome feedback like this. It means so much to me, and this makes all the effort well worth it😁🙏🏻🔥
I agree! I considered the new Tamron 28-75 G2 and this lens. Now I go for the 24-105, as it's even cheaper than the Tamron for the time.
Amazing shots you showed in this video - I agree with you 100% about the readiness to capture those spurious moments.

Thank you so much! And so fantastic to hear your kind words on my work!
Thank you for visiting Kurdistan ❤ I hope you were welcomed well. Thank you for the informative video 😊
Really loved this video. I had an 18-105 F4 for aps-c that was SO FUN to shoot with. I'm excited to get a full-frame 24-105 someday so that I can be ready for anything. You really highlighted what I love about photography! Cheers
How amazing feedback, mate! Thanks! I really believe in all this to be ready, so I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope you get a full frame camera soon💪🙌
Also… I’d love to see the video you suggest on natural light portraits. That was such a great shot 👌
Thanks for this useful video. I have here a canon 24-105 for ages but never used it...until i saw your video so thx ;-)
Learned a lot, thanks a lot for an excellent video !!
GOOD JOB WELL DONE.
Hi I’d like to know how a FE 24-70mm f/4 lens or a 4/18-105 would be for my Sony A7C specially for travel photography?
You are amazing. I’d like to know more about the 24-105 Peter. Is it full-frame and what brand? I’ve got an Olympus, so I’d expect I’d have to halve the size eh. Good advice regarding ‘grab the shot, then ask’. I’d love to travel like you, but in Nz, we can’t go (yet).
Thank you so much, so fantastic to read! My 24-105mm is a Sigma 4,0 full frame, and I use it on my Nikon D850 full frame body. I hope NZ will open up this summer (winter), so you can go explore the world with your camera again soon!
Great movie. I like your passion, and the way you talk about photography. I am going to buy this Lens. Now I am sure of that. Thank you.

Is there much difference besides the price on a Sony 24-105 g than the sigma 24-105 art series?
