During the Vietnam War, South Korean soldiers were the record holders for their ability to massacre unarmed women and children. It is estimated that of the 2 million civilians killed in the Vietnam War, 200 thousand (accounting for 10% of the civilian deaths) were the achievements of South Korean soldiers. Want to know more about other famous feats of the South Korean army, you can learn about Jeju uprising (the reason why the North Korean leader decided to attack South Korea), Bodo League massacre, Ganghwa massacre, Goyang Geumjeong Cave massacre...
@@hongquancand2248 Lol. The Vietnam War was the war when those VC dressed as a civilian and hid among the villagers. When a VC company came to the village, they brainwashed villagers like Vietnam was invaded and we should liberate the South or something. Sometime they forced villager to join their force too. If these VC had been so brave, why would have they dressed as a villager and sneaky attack on Korean, American and South Vietnamese force at the midnight? Why don't you fight at front? Speaking of these massacres that you mention in Korea, mostly these people were communist as they didn't want the government of South Korea established.

한국 독자를 위한 메시지. To any Koreans reading this, your mandatory military training has made you badasses (really cool and strong) during some events in United States history. There were violent riots in Los Angeles, California during the 1990's. During the riots, our police were defending rich people, and allowing the rest of the city to fall into chaos. Your people were abandoned. The Korean section of town formed a strong militia to defend businesses against thugs. You fortified rooftops and sent squads on rescue missions. Your area of town was saved because of your people's strength. It's super cool.
Actually, K3 LMG is often called as K3 'bolt-action' LMG among ROKA soldiers because its ridiculous unreliability makes it uncapable for automatic fire. Exported versions are mostly reliable, modified version of K3 LMG. But still there are great amount of 'bolt-action' types of the LMG in service in ROKA.
Due to this, the ministry of defense has called for a new line of light and heavy machine guns, which are now entering service as K15 and 16 respectively. I fired a K15 during training last year, it was a pretty good experience!
No surprised considering how stressful it is to kpop star. Their handle of mental stress and the practice probably would make them better than the most recruits.

Worth to mention are the economic policies that Park Chung-hee implemented first before starting the self-reliance programme, "Yulgok Plan". The export-oriented policies (for goods) and chaebol backing (for financing and implementation) allowed Korea to establish the necessary resources to start the military industry. The Yulgok Plan also covers the manufacturing of their own warships.
Correct, the Park presidency/dictatorship(?) also encouraged tech transfers, had a policy of loan guarantees and tax breaks for companies, which are factors contributing to the robust military-industrial complex of present-day South Korea. And prior to the Yulgok Plan, South Korea also ad an established shipping industry, notably that from Hyundai (Hyundai Heavy Industry/HHI).

Fun fact Lee Min Ho did enlist from the Army some time a year ago. Because its an requirement for every Korean soldier to enlist in the army. Man must join in the army at the age of maybe 18 or 20. (Ps: minor disinformation women does not join in the army only males in Korean join in the army, sorry for a minor inconvenience and misinformation. )
To tell the truth, until now, a few retired ex-KPOP idols or Korean entertainers used to enter military service such as Marine, Ranger, and SF soldiers in the Korean army these days. But not all entertainers & K-POP artists entered the Korean army as SF troopers. South Korea's social vibes are so strict that all POP stars & famous entertainers should join their army service and it does not have any exceptional ones. Some two or three guys once wanted to be exempted unofficially from their military service but all of them were perfectly fucked up at the time. Because most raging Korean citizens wanted to punish all those guys, so they had to join military service instead of being prisoners. Recently, the famous K-POP artist BTS boys began to enter their military service, and the senior member Jin's role is to be an instructor to educate other trainee soldiers in his division.

General John Hodge who ran the American Military Government from 45-48 would not permit the ROK Army to possess tanks and artillery because Syngmun Rhee kept asking for the equipment and armor to invade the DPRK. In 1949 ROKA forces actually captured a small town north of the 38th parallel, but the primary mission of the ROKA and KNP from 46 to 49 was to suppress any and all popular uprisings in places like Cholla province and Cheju Island where tenant farmers and peasants were demanding land reform and labor protection.
I was a tank crew(specialized in tank-driving and also licensed) for K-1 tank type when I was in ROKArmy. Tank crews have to be used to many types of guns Korean Army uses like K2 rifle(trained in Army Training Center, tank crews don’t use this), K1 submachine gun(loader use this), K6 heavy machine gun(originated from M2, it’s on top of the tank for commander), M60E2 and M60D(equipped in tank for gunner and loader), and K5 pistol - M1911 pistol(Commander, gunner, driver use this. Inside of tank is pretty narrow so cannot use K1 or K2). We were instructed to disassembly and assembly those guns frequently, sometimes our camp raised some competitions of handling those guns. I remember some techniques of them as time passes by.
If anybody wants a visceral look at the horrors of the Korean war, watch a film called The Front Line (2011) it's one of the greatest war films I've ever seen and can stand amongst legendary films like Saving Private Ryan and others. In fact, it's that good, that I think the only films it doesn't surpass are that and All Quiet... But let's not debate the subjective nature of that. It really is an awesome film, that follows a Lt. who is tasked with finding a supposed traitor. Instead, he gets drawn into monotonous human wave attacks with huge amounts of death, and it makes you realise how massive that war actually was. Bigger than Afghan, Nam, and The current Ukraine one. Yet we don't really talk about it. The special effects are absolutely top notch, no expense has been spared, and I look forward to watching this again.

Not gonna lie, as a history buff I knew about Koreans and how feared they were in Vietnam (mainly thanks to you guys). And as an weeb I have read several manhwas. 50% of the time MC was guy who finished his "basic training". I never gave this info any real or historical weight(in manga you want your MC to be as likable as he can be, and I went with same mindset towards manhwa). I would never realized how real this was, I would just brush it off as another thing that makes MC popular and likable. So thank you SH team, once again you made my knowledge better than it would be without you
You don't know the Korean army in the Vietnam War at all. You don't even know the history.
Actually male MC fresh out of military service is not to make him special or admirable but more to make him more relatable to readers haha

Where as Italian Soldiers were there as full fledge battalion unit. When the enemy started to attack their base, Italian soldiers were nowhere to be found and The supply maintenance Korean Unit pushed all of the enemies back only using Rifles and Mortars. True Story.

Would love to do a joint operation with these guys. :)

The special effects are absolutely top notch, no expense has been spared, and I look forward to watching this again.
thank you
