To celebrate 10 years of Simple History (and just in time for Halloween), we're revisiting one of our favorite videos on the channel - Attack Of The Dead Men! This time, we're adding even more information and showcasing it with our updated animation style. Enjoy!
Keep in mind this was 1915. Poison gas wasn’t used in a major war before on a large scale. And the men fighting did not have the more modern viewpoint of “ghosts and zombies aren’t real.” This would have been beyond terrifying to us nowadays. For them? It was Armageddon.
@@ShadowReaper-pu2hx ghosts? Oh yeah. Way more than people do today. It was over a hundred years ago. And zombies specifically? No. But dead rising again? Brings in between life and death? Those have existed in most every religion since the dawn of time.
How about you keep in mind that this is just western and russian propaganda. There is no way a bunch of dying men repelled 14 battalions. The real historical accounts, not this piece of imaginary headcanon contains the truth, that the reserves moved in after the gas had dispersed to strengthen the defense. Using your intellect to filter the truth from propaganda is obviously a rarity nowadays
It was all right, but I think I'll stick with Sabaton's song, "March of the Dead Men," and the Sabaton History channel's talk about the incident in 1915 with the WWI Channel's co-host, Indy Neidel.
Somethings you need to note here. 1. The Russians didn't just look like zombies, they acted like them. Because their vocal cords a were badly damaged, when they tried to yell during the charges only gurgly rasps were made. Also their nervous systems were fried from the pain to the point of numbness. So they did not react to injuries. The only way to stop them was to aim for the head. While they displayed uncoordinated movement, the massive adrenaline rush in their systems caused them to display enhanced strength. It is even said that the commander was impaled by a German. He killed the soldier and kept fighting. 2. After the fighting the remaining survivors destroyed the fort making it useless to the Germans as a fortification.
That must’ve been so scary like, imagine being a German soldier seeing your enemies rush towards you, while you hear gurgles and yells, worst thing is that you have to shoot the head.
Not even enough content for one episode. I can see it working as one epic scene among a collection of events in WW1 between Russian and Germany, or just a collection of multiple cool WW1 events.
