  • This is a true adventure ride. I honestly didn't have a clue what I was getting into when I agreed to go on this ride. I was just super excited to ride something new I had never done before. All in all it was amazing, but as you can see there's definitely a high level of effort for this one.

    Your genuine pain of the climb and absolute joy of the descent can be felt in this video. As a fellow Vet myself, I found your support for Vets and wanted to say "Thank you, and Hello from Kentucky".

    Best giggle in the business!! :-D Nice job on this one! I've actually never considered climbing up that first part (it is fun to drop though!). I think climbing Round Lake Trail to the PCT or Oakland Pond Trail... then over to Elwell is waaay more rideable and enjoyable. (Or riding Gold Rim etc from Packer Saddle to Elwell if one wants to eliminate lots of climbing before the Elwell HAB). But and adventure is an adventure!

      We totally didn't know what we were doing. We were just looking at TrailForks and trying to take what seemed like the most manageble route. While making the video I was looking at the map and trying to figure out which way would be easier. I'll have to look at what you are saying. Your route from Paker is actually something we were talking about right before the season ended to go from Packer over to Everstoke. I thought that would be a fun route.

    • @barker83
      @barker83 7 місяців тому

      @@B1KER from Packer Saddle, there's at least a half dozen route options to end in Graeagle/Everstoke. All of them are bueno! You'd probably like the Wades Lake/Jamison Creek trail stuff. Only downside is it isn't singletrack all the way to town.

      I’d question it even there. It was a bunch of stair steps and such that just wasn’t climbable. I’m honestly curious if it would be any better.

    I've done elwell many times it's mostly a hike a bike anyways so the most direct route is north around long lake ..and keep doing what you're doing..don't need a eeb ..the climbing and hiking is what mtb is all about.

      It would be cool, but you need to carry the headset and realistically I won't want shots of me standing there with a headset on. I did just buy a new DJI Mini 4 pro so at least I'll get those mastershots or whatever they call it.

    I bought a cheap crown race installer on Amazon but honestly it is just as easy to get a piece of pipe to fit over it all and knock it with a mallet to set it. Probably cost you $2 or maybe even have something lying around which makes it virtually free. Its a good tool to have for as much as you ride and have to do maintenance/upgrades.

    Those are the one in a lifetime Epic rides you drink beer and talk about. PS. That’s E-bike territory.❤ There is a certain ride in Como Colorado a trail called gold dust. It starts at about 7800 feet and takes you to about 11,800 feet in about 9 miles. OMGOMG that reminded me of gold dust. Hammer on happy trails.

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  7 місяців тому

      Oh that sounds like it hurts...BAAAAAAD!!!! This started around 6k and was up around 7500' or so. It wasn't too bad on the elevation but it was just so unrideable you were putting a lot of work in. At a certain point you're just defeated and probably giving up before you need to on some of the climbs. But in the back of your mind you don't know how much more you've got to do so you're trying to leave some fuel in the tank.

    • @Mtb9r
      @Mtb9r 7 місяців тому

      Well put and love those adventures. The continental divide trail another serious epic trail up above steamboat springs. Is one of those 25 mile trails of death but can’t stop because it’s so good. Gold dust is 90% rideable the last mileish is a MFER.. but I love going back. 24 the first time on my Husqvarna E-bike. Should be a blast. In my mid 60s now slowing down a little bit but left too much blood on the trail to stop now.🥃🥃🥃🥃. Happy Trails

    Soooooooo, when’s the ebike showing up🤔? I’ve seen you climb enough to know you’re a glutton for punishment, but I’m glad you get enjoyment out of it. For the record, I still ride both but I’d rather ride my bike than push it. There’s places I wouldn’t dream of taking my ebike too, but this ride would be perfect for one. It’s still “pay for play” only think of it as getting a discount🤣. You’ll still feel it at the end of the ride, I guarantee it🤘

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  7 місяців тому +1

      There were soo many ridiculously steep and stair step sections that weren't in the edit. I'm not convinced an e-bike would be better for this route. I heard there is a more pedal friendly way to go. I hear ya on the e-Bike though. I see one in the future for easier shuttle days and to get in fun rides on recovery days. Stay tuned!

      I have the MTB Hydro 8L and the Action Camera Harness / NDM 1. I highly recommend using that camera harness instead of trying to put a GoPro chesty over the bag harness. That would be a major pain in the butt. I also use the Zulo 6L waist pack. If you decide to buy one you can use coupon: USWEHPV and get 10% off. I was thinking I need to make a review video of these because I truly really like them.

      It does a really good job of keeping you planted and ramps up in a really predictable way. Guys our size are really pushing the boundaries of the traditional air shock. I wish I would have tried one sooner. If you reach out to EXT and tell them B1KER mentioned a discount they will hook ya up.

    Wow. Definitely trying this next year along with the double down. Did I hear you correctly earlier? 4 miles up and 8 miles down? Can you take an ebike? Thinking of getting an ebike this year.

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  7 місяців тому +1

      I think it may not be great with the e-bike because there are a lot of rock steps and unrideable steep sections that you'd still be pushing your bike up. Maybe walk mode wouldn't be too bad. I personally wouldn't go about it that way. But hey, it's worth a shot.
