Yesterday my window (2001 Suburban) went halfway up and quit. Today I followed this video (pausing it at each step) and in about an hour I was done. Extremely helpful!
Same problem on my 2001 suburban hopefully this helps
ZERO narrorating?
1aAuto videos with narration are so much better.
This is a very good video: short, concise with little talking. It kept this procedure on track. I would recommend taping the window before releasing the two retaining saddle bolts as they can immediately slide down. This procedure is FAR better and easier than doing just a motor replacement. Everything is already tensioned properly and one doesn't have to mess with the cable unspooling. Bravo.
+adman Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
I own a 2001 Chevy suburban for the last six years and the front passenger window regulator was not working during this time . I really didn’t care too much about it since I rarely drive the truck but recently I’ve decided let me get this fixed. I did not want to pay someone to do the work so I searched UA-cam and came upon this video. I have watched different videos by you and it has helped me in the past with different vehicles. So I decided to buy the part from your company as a way of giving back to you.I could have went with other companies and saved a little bit of money but I felt this is the least I could do to support your company. I ordered the part and within three days I received it and with the help of your video I was able to replace the regulator with no problems at all. Thank you for the educational videos that your company puts up it definitely comes in handy for people like me and others. Happy holidays
Thanks for the information. I like how you edited out his cussing. I took mine apart yesterday to diagnose and there’s definitely some cussing! Whoever put video on for Parts company is a genius and deserves a raise.
Awesome video!
The only thing I would add is if the window is stuck down, loosen (do not remove) the bolts that hold the window in place and the raise the window all the way carefully. Once this is done, then you may tape the window in place.
Again, thank you so much!
Also works if it’s -20 and you rolled your window down to get a drive thru coffee and the regulator decided to die at that moment and you need to figure out a way to close the window for a hour and a half long drive.
Bought the regulator from 1aauto, just installed it on my old 02 suburban, my passenger window works again, thank you so much for this video 1auto👍🏻👍🏻.
Thanks for the video. Made replacing my driver's side front window regulator a lot easier.
Just completed installment on my Tahoe. This video saved me hundreds! "I SHOULD OF ORDERED THE PART FROM YOUR COMPANY" Would of saved me even more.......MY BAD.......I will use your "1aauto" in the future....Thanks so much, You guys are great......
Great video. I have to commend GM for making this design easier to work on, then past vehicles.
Great video.
Lol, family friendly !
Haha!😉
My thanks to the repairman !
Note for people trying to fix a slow window: when I initially installed my new regulator my window was just as slow as it was with the old noisy one. I had to clean the rubber window track and then it started to go fast like it should. Also wear gloves, the back of the GM metal bracket holding the track up is extremely sharp
I've watched so many of your videos....they are very detailed as well as helpful! With your videos, I've replaced a fuel pump, tensioner wheel, hub bearing assembly, rotors, brakes and now....window regulator....Thanks for the informative videos!!!!!!
Nice work. We're glad the videos helped you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
Thank you for the video, the visual was excellent. I wish there were words, but not as important. I duplicated the steps successfully the first time trying and got a new unit working well today! I saw many other videos and websites on the topic and this one was the best of them I saw.
This video saved me big bucks. The part cost me 90 bucks at O'Reilly's Auto with my 10% military discount. I have a 2000 Silveraldo and it's almost the same thing. The only difference was the 8 mm socket requirement. Mine needed a 7 mm. Putting back and aligning the interior panel was the hardest part. Especially putting the door opening rod back to the handle. That was tricky and took the longest to do. Thank you very much for this video.

I want to thank you so much for the wonderful and informative video. After watching your video I put new regulator in , less than 1/2 hour. Thanks again and if someone needs to do this please review this video ,as it is great!!!!
I thank you for doing a lot of pointing and not a lot of talking 💪🙃💯🙏.
Some people just don't shut up😂🤷
This was so helpful!!!! Thank you so much guys... oh yeah and it was a 7mm , 10mm & T-20 Tork ,

Great video as always. I do want to add that some of the trucks have a mounting bolt behind the lock slider and some have it behind the switch assembly. Im not sure of why the difference but i have broken at least one by accident.
You guys always make stuff look so easy. You have always been a huge help thank you guys

Thank you so much! I had to buy the window mechanism locally- so I could fix it today. But you saved me a lot of $$$. I will order from you the next time I have a need!
Excellent video. Helped my basic ass do this today. Love you guys! Best channel and products on UA-cam.
The Door panel removal/replacement video explained each step of that process. I suggest watching it first. Also read the comments on it before doing the work. Some years are different and screw placements are different. You don't want to break the panel.
Really appreciate the time and effort you guys spend on your videos. I order from 1A auto every chance I get.
+Z Mac Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Great video I installed it in under 45 minutes. I bought the regulator from 1A Auto, free, fast shipping and competitively priced. Thank you 1A Auto you saved me a lot of $$$$$
Excellent video! Made an easy job out of it. I don't have the replacement regulator yet, but this video made it a piece of cake to take the broken one out. Looks like putting the new one in will be pretty easy too, just reverse the steps. Just ordered the replacement regulator from A1-- didn't even bother to price shop, I was so impressed with this video, I want to buy from them.

On a 2001 it's 7mm not an 8mm bolts on the door panel. Also you should note that you need to loosen the clamps holding the window to the regulator in order to remove and install. Otherwise this is a fantastic tutorial like all of the others you have put together. Thanks
This video absolutely helped me out it's the reason I buy parts from 1A Auto
Great video! My 13 year old change out the regulator. We also bought the part from 1A, perfect match!
Thank you for watching. Glad we could be of help. Please let us know how the repair comes out!

+BobbyBooShay Thanks for watching. We're glad to hear you were able to get this replacement completed! 1aauto.com
With great videos like this, I suspect that you are putting a dent in Hanes and Chilton sales. Replaced driver and back passenger window regulator off this video. Thank you.
Thanks for the video, helps to see the process before doing it. Only thing the video says 8mm & 10mm sockets, on my 2001 Sierra SLT 4WD 5.3L Extended Cab it was 7mm & 10mm.
+blankcj Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com

If you have one touch button where window goes all the way down with one touch of button do you need to program the new motor
this video was exactly what I was looking for you guys rock!
+Alex Horsch No problem. Glad to hear it helped you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
excellent tutorial. one note: on my 2003 Suburban, the top door panel bolt is behind the lock switch not the controls. pry gently from the right hand side of the bezel to remove it

FYi, First step in removing the control panel, don't just pry it up as mine (2003 Z71 suburban) had a clip in the back but a screw in the front and I snapped the plastic screw base off, now hoping plastic weld will be strong enough to fix it. Remove the entire door panel then unplug the wiring from the control panel. Not all door panels are the same,, thanks GM !!
Would be a lot nicer with narrating, that way we know the size of the sockets to use and somebody not so shy about talking on their video
Wow I wish I knew 10% of what you know about cars.👍🏻
Your videos are the best! Thank you

1A Auto Parts is awesome thank you sir
Anyone buy from them ? How did it go ? There's much cheaper prices out there. So quality, and trust in the company and manufacturer must be worth it !
I have a question. What if the regulator failed when the window was in the down position? How do you get the window up and tape it? Is there an easy way? Thanks
Pretty straightforward instructions, though there is no dialog. 😁
+@tudyk21 Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
BEFORE YOU DO THIS: If your window goes up and down slowly, get some silicone lubricant at Walmart for like $8 and spray the railings on the sides. If that still doesn't work then follow the steps in this video.
Outstanding video. Very helpful and very well done.
Hey that's what we aim for! Thanks for watching, Mac! 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
I have a question I always watch your videos but every time I see you working on a vehicle. It's always the passenger side never the driver side I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado LS period And I never see videos about that
Loved it fixed me suv in 10 minutes
the only thing you had wrong in the video is that my 2002 suburban uses 7mm socket for the door pannel. but other then that it was very helpful
Great Video. Huge help. The window regulator was exactly as shown and went in just as in the video. Thanks!
Thank you for watching. Please let us know how the repair comes out!

Thank you very much!!!!
Mine crunched the gears... Shud I buy whole assembly anyway or can I repair the gears
Very good video. Thanks
Thank you
There's an audio issue starting at :15
I have ordered the window regulator from your website. My question is my window stopped working in the down position. I took off the door panel and can get my hand under the glass but cannot get it to raise, even when trying to actuate the switch. The two clamp nuts are not where I can loosen the clamps holding the window glass. Should I drill access holes, or is there a better way to handle this problem?
So once the regulator is out can you untape the window and slide it out of the vehicle? All 4 doors to my Tahoe are beyond repair with rust and I want to buy some used ones but use everything that the originally door has including the glass. Help!!
i had my window regulator replaced and the window rattles and the door is more noisy. any suggestions? Thanks in advance
My window motor is still working is just the window came of the '' rubber'' handles, Can I just open up the 2 rubber holders as in 4:01 and put the glass in the rubber tracks and tighten them???????????
Thank god for impacts
I wish you would have audio with what you were doing
+Stephanie Oleszczuk Thanks for the feedback!
I have an 06 1/2 ton silverado and i want to replace the manual windows to power windows, i asked a locar shop and they told me that in this models not every after market window regulator would work, tha if i could find the originals from a salvage truck that woudl be better, so i ask for your recommendation of what to do and if the brand in this video has proven to be reliable?, because on other brands the reviews are not verey good often they say the window regulator stop working after few months or even weeks after installation, so i think you get the idea i want to buy something that will last, thank you from méxico.
+XBJAJ We do not carry this kind of conversion kit so we would not have a lot of info about them. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Thank you! Got it done!
+Jason Christensen Congratulations on the successful repair. We're glad the video helped you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
Thanks man!
+Jason Thomas Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Do you have a video to show the repair of a rear window for 2001 yukon?
+markybcool Thank you for the comment, but unfortunately we do not offer a video for the rear windows for your vehicle. Any other viewers interested in the parts in the video please visit the link below!
www.1aauto.com/window-regulator-front-passenger-side/i/1awrg00002?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&IGOPKk
Does this apply for 01 Yukon front window
New window regulator only moving an inch. Is it a bad part?
No voiceover instruction. Am I the only one?
EXCELLENT! Thank you.
great video. job went quick, but i have one question when checking the window i notice the button works in reverse, up is down and down is up. The one touch sends the window up and i now have to hold the button when bringing the window down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
+Carol Bakunas You might want to see if you can unplug the window switch connector and plug it in the other way. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
uhmm.. this guy spoke at the beginning, then got stage fright when working.. used hand signals instead
+teespeed Thank you for checking us out. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we have forwarded this to our Studio for it to be updated. 1aauto.com
He's a mute
I think it's because this is an edited combination of two videos. There's a separate, basic video (with audio) on removing and replacing the door panel. And then this video (with no audio) specifically tackles the window regulator portion.
Thanks for the excellent, clear instructions! I need to find out if it's a switch or the motor out on my rear passenger window. I assume from the video that I can just pop out the switch panels and test them, then, if they're good, it has to be the motor. Right? Is there much difference in replacing a rear regulator?
+John Temple Thank you for checking us out. You may pop out the switch to test. There is not much difference going from a front to rear regulator replacement. 1aauto.com
Thank you so much!
My door wont pop up what should i do
Did he break the door handle? Look at 2:01 and then see new handle at 5:50.
Don't know if it was broken, but if that's not a new one, somebody's really OCD to clean the old one up and steel wool the spring to make it look that new.
Mine had 7mm bolts, not 8mm. Otherwise, excellent tutorial.
+Shannon Young Thanks for the feedback!
If anyone can help me on this, I'd really appreciate it. I have a 2006 Chevy Suburban. My passenger window behind the driver's side slides down. The motor seems to work when I try and put it up. My question is: should I just buy the regulator by itself and use the current, good motor on it. Or just buy the whole complete set?? Thank you in advance and I would really appreciate some feedback.
+Rigo Martinez Thanks for checking our video out! While we can't give you an exact diagnosis to tell you what will fix your vehicle, we do offer both the motor by itself and the regulator with the motor. We'd suggest purchasing the set because you will then have a lifetime warranty on both parts! Here is a link to the listing: www.1aauto.com/window-regulator/i/1awrg02509?f=830449&y=2006 1aauto.com
