Hey Whiplash, my husband has the same code on this exact vehicle. We have replaced the vane position sensor, the boost control solenoid and the wires for it. And still same code. Should I try the boost control valve?
I just threw a P0048 boost control solenoid high circuit, feels like the wastegate is stuck open but I’m going to pull this tomorrow and see how it looks. Still getting 25mpg somehow
Hello.. well like a year ago maybe 6 or 8 months i replaced my solenoid like in the video .well the code is back... I have been workint the truck as a mason contractor .have had 2.5 tons in it not intentionally .always ran great . This time around felt sluggish today when c.e.l. light went on but i was loaded with stone ... i will check tomorrow and see how she runs ... any chances ot can be a bad turbo ? And where is the waste gate ?? And if mine is stuck open would it trip the code?? Also could my solenoid go bad allready consider less then a year old ??? We do work the shit ourve it at times...but i maintain her well ...synthetic oil .change every 4 k and i use the mobil 1 synthetic 20,000 mile filter for extra cleaning ... please help im a diesel novice lol .thankyou so much in advance . Btw best video WVER Frank G.
@@empirestateconstructionllc2336 thanks for watching and dropping a comment. After I changed this sensor which had seemed to have been out for a little while, it seems like the turbo vanes had to work themselves free again. I would check your turbo vanes and make sure that they are free.
I have this same code for my 2005 6.6 dually. I noticed the idle is a little funny. Line it will ise fine then idle weird and the whole truck would shake. Thought the truck already shakes I noticed a different type of shake. Will this fix my problem too??
The vanes of the turbo charger not being moved and controlled correctly by the turbo boost control solenoid could cause this code to pop up. Also the vane position sensor not correctly reading the vane position could cause it as well. The boost control solenoid and vane position sensor are not crazy expensive to replace and you can definitely do it yourself.
I'm getting the P2563 and P0046. Truck has no boost from a dead stop. You can mash it to the floor and it falls on it's face. Then it will very slowly take off. Also my exhaust doesn't change sounds when idling.
@@whiplashtv2022 I've been wrenching on cars for 48 years and so far I haven't figured out the combination to get on the head of that bolt. I have an 04.5 LLY but something is a little different.
Well done video, always love how well you describe and detail how and why things are done!
Thanks for noticing! I am trying to be detailed and continually improve.
One of the best videos I’ve seen! Been looking for somebody to walk me through this problem for a while now too
Thanks
Thanks for the video. Mine just went out on my 2008 LMM at just over 335,000 miles.
You’re welcome
Thanks for the tutorial....same model of my truck, just watched this vid....and I will do as you said to do.....
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.

@katherinebogue7072 have you checked to see if the vanes are stuck and won’t move? Sometimes that can be the issue.
Awesome truck! I got 06 LBZ same lift. What size of rims and tires are you running?
22x12 wheels with 37x13.50x22 tires.

Yeah it might be stuck open or the solenoid simply has a high circuit voltage.
I have the same truck and the same code. I have changed the vane position sensor, the boost solenoid, should I try the boost solenoid valve?
The vane position sensor is often times not the fix. The boost control solenoid that I replaced in the video did the truck for me.
@13:21 WTF KINDA ROOSTER WAS THAT!! 😂😂😂
A Silky rooster is the one that sounds a little different. The other rooster is a Rhode Island Red.

@@whiplashtv2022 sorry to ask but how do I get to the vanes easily ?? Lol thanks again
Did this solenoid hold up? or did it fail after a few months?
Still going strong with no issues.
I think this is what I needed to confirm that I need to paint my truck white.
Heck yeah! Paint it!
I need to definitely check into this. Mine is sluggish into boost sometimes but isn’t showing any codes yet.
Sometimes it is as simple as things getting gummed up.
How long did you leave it in the oil ?
Overnight

Yours sounds a little bit more injector related. Have you checked your injector balance rates yet?
My 05 lly needs that too .how do u check the rates ? Fancy shop computer ?
You can check your fuel injector balance rates with a monitor like this one.

What’s the peak boost?
The most that I have seen is 32psi
Nice job
Thanks!
Really good job
Thanks
Well done !
Thanks!
It looks like you have boost air leaks you should get 15 PSI at least 25 if everything's perfect like new
It goes up over 25psi when getting on it really hard. I didn’t get on it that hard in the video. Thanks for the concern though.
I can’t get it with the egr cooler in the way
Hmmm, might have to remove the cooler then or use a swivel with a socket.
What about p003a

Have you changed your Boost Control Solenoid?
@@whiplashtv2022 I have only changed the vane positioning sensor so far.
@@Dmax04 I changed that as well before I changed the solenoid. It turned out that the solenoid was the issue.

@@Dmax04 that line to the turbo might be in the way. It can be removed if it is in the way and then reinstalled at the end of the job.
I have a 0045....🤔
And a 2229
Your issue could be caused by this or potentially the BAP/MAP sensor or your problem could be caused by both being bad.
