And it could be that they switch on who says what, like in a situation in which everything is suddenly chaos Charlie will be worried that someone dies and Al will be all cheery about it. And then another situation when Alastor wants murder and says that someone will die implying that he’s committing it and Charlie is being Charlie

It's hard to say. Certainly Alastor goes along with the Hotels plans with minimal complaint (i.e. episode 1 commercial, episode 2 Egg Boiz event) he doesn't really interact much with the rest of the hotel staff. It's like when the hotel readied for Lucifers arrival. Alastor didn't help. In fact, he outright antagonized Lucifer (because he's a madman), and then thrashed those thugs when they attacked. Most of the time, he just sits on his own observing the crowd. He want's Charlies power. What for (other than escaping his contract), is yet to be made clear.
@@fredfry5100or you could say, hell has buisness, so sometimes he has to get off amd well he dont know anything about redemption. He helped with the hotel stuff and design, but how to redeem a soul is Charlies table, even though he attempted in most of the events. I think you are a bit Alastor hater but thats fine.
I love how fitting the "stone cold with no soul" part is considering that we find out in season 1 that Alastor is also on someone else's leash so he might not be in possession of his own soul

This song makes it sounds like Alastor's real plan is to lured Charlie into embracing her inner evil and really shake Hell to its' foundation; at least that's how I'm seeing it. Would be so cool if that is an actual plot point in the show.

He stated outright that he wants to see efforts fail and hopes to be crushed. I think this is a half truth. He is interested in that, but the failure he wants to witness most is the failure of Charlie herself. He saw the hope in the song she sang on TV, and he saw her determination in how she fought for her dream despite everyone being against her. She's something new and extraordinary and he wants to watch as it burns out and dies. If he can bring her higher then it just means she falls that much further.
Alastor openly admits he wants to watch people who believe in her plan to fail. I wouldn't be surprised if the ultimate entertainment for him would see Charlie lose faith in her plan.
I really love the line "I know my dreams are hopeful but their not stupid" It all in one lines shows how she wants the best for other people without being okay with being disrespected. She's smart enough to know when she's being talked down to and she isn't dumb. I don't know why this line specifically gets me but I just think its nice, the idea that a happy person can stand up for themselves without trying to show off that they can be sarcastic and mean spirited too.

hi, yes i know i am late but it also really hit me when Alastor said "but i only want to set you free" it really gives depth to how he really wants what (at least in his mind) is best for her in hell
@@NyxNyxaroes I think Charlie might be one of the most powerful demons in the show but she is usually too nice to hurt anyone. She didn’t even use her demon form in that fight she could have probably curb stomped Killjoy if she really wanted.
@@funnyblog100 Sorry I'm replying 3 days later but I agree with you! In the pilot, it was stated that she was born from very powerful people. The rulers of hell I believe? I believe that due to her parents, she wants to rebel against them and show the good in people without using her demon form/powers she gained from them. She wants to show all of hell that her parents don't define her :)
@@AcerrVT Also she can summon fire and warp reality if her song inside of every demon is a rainbow is any indication. Alastor is the only other demon seen so far with that level of power. In fact she might be even more powerful but is too nice to actually use it on anyone. This means she doesn't practice her powers often. The moment she briefly turns into demon form in her song the other demons back away in fear.
Alastor is pretty much a perfect opposite of Charlie, like the other side of the same coin. While Charlie is very honest and kind, Alastor is deceitful and malicious. And while Charlie is out to help the denizens of hell, Alastor is only out to find entertainment for himself. I think thats what makes their chemistry so good.
They’re so diametrically opposed underneath... but their similarities and dare I say a veneer of respect for the other draws them to one another for a mutual benefit.
They’re both clearly interested in showmanship, and have a philosophical foundation in the nature of sin and punishment in Hell.
But they also respect each other, at least a little on some level.
Charlie’s respects Alastor’s power, his help and a bit of his charm.
Alastor on the other hand appears to have a light respect for Charlie’s bravado and personal flair. She wears her heart on her lovely red sleeves despite the slum she lives in.
At least on some level I think Alastor respects that which is why he bothered to approach her with the proposition of his help to begin with.

From Alastor's, its like he is trying to remind Charlie who and what she really is, trying to empower the evil and the potential inside her.

What I love about this song is that it's not just about Alastor trying to manipulate Charlie, it's also about Charlie trying to get trough to Alastor. That she sees just as much potential in him as a good person as he sees in her as an agent of chaos!

@@t34r Thats because the show is sang in Broadway format, this is actual music format. Both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss were intended to be like Broadway Musicals.
I think this is quite deep and says a lot about their thoughts. As said in the song, they both believe they could be so much and make “One hell of a team”, but their ideas of what each other could be is the complete opposite of what they want. Alastor knows that if Charlie were to turn into(assuming Alastor is the bad guy of the story) bad, since she’s the princes of hell, she’s very powerful along with her determination. On the other hand, Charlie knows how powerful Alastor is, with just words he can do what he wants. If he were to turn into a good guy, things would be so different and with his help, Charlie can guide many demons to redemption. But they both don’t want each other’s views, as they believe they have a better view and opinion than the other.

I love how this song goes both ways. Both Charlie and Alastor want the other one to be more like them, thinking they'd be better off that way and they'd be a better team. But it is in fact their differences that make them such a good team.

There's a little theory I saw that I'd like to bring to your attention.
The reason Alastor is helping Charlie is this: Alastor, known to us as The Radio Demon, is a being without equal. But during her song, he saw hints of something greater than Charlie lets on. So it is that Alastor decided to lend a hand to her cause, waiting for it to "tumble down into the fiery pit of failure," curious to see if Charlies true nature is a worthy of challenging him.

The line 'loneliness, your only friend' hits. I love how in Charlie's portions, it shows that she's not just some naive girl who'll get swayed by deals, rather it's more like she's dissing Alastor. I also like how that line could be about Alastor, but could also be Charlie talking about herself.
I like fanon Charlastor as much as the next person, but I also really hope we get chaotic found family dynamics when the series releases this year. Part of me hopes that even if Alastor did start with some diabolical plan, he does end up liking being at the hotel, not necessarily for redemption, but because as his comic shows and as Charlie says here, he could really just be lonely. Boredom is just a form of loneliness after all.
Honestly, I believe if Alastor ever grows a moral compass for the hotel, the Hazbin Hotel is going to go up in flames. Alastor regrowing his moral compass, considering all he has done, is going to ruin him. Put his incredible demonic power in the hands of a serial killer regrowing his moral compass and you have a recipe for rubble.
And I would pay money to see that.
I was fantasizing about the same plotline. I feel like Alastor actually went to the hotel more to use Charlie to get close to her father to overthrow him. But, Charlie does have a bit of an infectious kindness. I think that might be what happened with Vaggie - she might have been actually evil at first until meeting Charlie seeing as she's still a demon but shows some kindness towards her - and it's already starting to work a little bit on Angel Dust. That's what it looked like when he actually showed some regret in making fun of the hotel after he saw hoe bummed Charlie was about the news bit. But, I also imagine Alastor will be her biggest challenge of rehabilitating since he's still a psychopath already drunk on his insane amount of power.

I tend to see it as a study in redemption, which is something Charlie believes in wholeheartedly, even if a bit misguided. The idea that no one is irredeemable is a nice thought, and that's why Charlastor works. If there was even a slight hint that Alastor could be redeemed, turned, or made good, Charlie will push for it.
On Alastor's side, Charlie is powerful, even if she doesn't use that power. It's entertaining to watch her fumble, because he's an asshole that enjoys watching others suffer. But if there is anything left in him that CAN be redeemed, it's not farfetched to imagine that in the end, she might actually get through to him in some way. It's the unstoppable force meets the immovable object.
Charlie wants to redeem fallen souls, and she won't stop just because others think it's stupid, because she thinks everyone can be a good person if they have a reason to be. Alastor thinks it's impossible, and doesn't want to change; he'd rather make her like him. In the end, one will have to give up. Odds are it'll be Charlie, at least for Alastor. But if it goes the other way...

A incredible song highlighting the dichotomy between these two characters. Notice when both mention “set the world alight,” it means something very different for each of them.

But shipping is just a fan thing and not everyone does it, so you shouldn't worry that there is something wrong that you don't see. It is a rule by now that a canon couple will end up having different ships with other people. It's just something people like to do because they won't get to see it on the screen, so they play around with the idea. Plus, it is a guilty pleasure to ship an asshole character with a sweetheart. I don't personally like it, but I can see the appeal.
Charlie and Vaggie are gorgeous and so cute together, tho. And although I like to ship characters, I just prefer Alastor to be this single annoying "friend" who you cannot kick out because you will end up dead.

1:35 I find it interesting that in Charlie's part here, it keeps on flicking back and forth between her and Alastor in the way it does. It seems like it would make more sense if it went back and forth showing Charlie being accusitory/angry and Alastor being evil, which it does do some, but that's not all of what happens. The video portrays Charlie in some of the shots as if she's thinking about herself or remembering something she'd rather not. I think this might represent how she's struggling with her nature as a demon and her hopelessness in starting the hotel, wishing she could be better as some sort of perfect person when she feels inadequate on the inside. Because of this, I honestly think that part of her entire verse in the song may just be her projecting her insecurities onto Alastor, even if many of the things she says he is are accurate. She thinks she's naturally "evil" because she's the princess of hell, and she clearly has issues with feeling confident that her dreams are remotely realistic, which is even shown in cannon. I think that this part of the song did this double meaning very cleverly, so thats cool. Thanks if you read until the end, and have a nice day :)

Having finished the 1st season, I hope the 2nd season would experiment with the idea of Alastor corrupting (or atleast try) charlie. And the opposite for Charlie, seeing as how she thinks everyone is worthy of redemption, would try to help Alastor be redemeed

Alastor himself knows he controls other demons lives with a simple handshake. But maybe with Charlie he sees her corrupted life and struggle to attain happiness for what it really is and wants to help her accomplish at least that because maybe he does want to at least help one demon in his immortal life. Also this song is so beautifully done, it's beyond the cosmos and earth's realms. I love Alastor and Charlie's dancing sequences it really shows what they have in common and no matter how different they may be they still have twisted goals to change what is considered crazy in Hell. It's amusing entertainment for Alastor but did he say he wanted to stop it?
