I’m a first time dad this week. 3 days in the NeoNatal intensive care unit, no sleep and more stress than I’ve ever felt in my life. I had 10 minutes of time to chill out this afternoon and this video just brought me a bit of happiness in an otherwise exhausting week. Thank you guys.

Will be fun actually when you get an UP TSI instead of the MPI and then tune it to like 130/150 hp. Its very easy to tune the 1.0 TSI to such values.

😂 that was indeed bringing a machine gun to a knife fight 😂 but I gotta give it to the Up, for what it is, it’s a decent machine. Would almost like to see how a turbocharged one would perform.
The engine only makes like 65hp, even with a GT25 turbo on 14lbs that's only like 130hp at the front wheels. (Reliability goes out the window)
Pair that with some proper coilovers, proper dialed in track camber, track tires, and I'd bet it would be pretty dang fun. Still no match for a 275hp Yaris GR but still lots of fun.

I'm running something very similar to a GT28 in my hybrid turbo on my Alfa Romeo. I'm closer to 400awhp but I'm also 1500lbs heavier than a UP. 😅
Moog must have the 23' golf R that he was given to test out. this will be an interesting comparison.

You guys did real good on the track, which is surprising since this is the best 4x4 channel on the interwebs! But the little UP did give the GR a great little run for its money in the beginning haha.
Just in case you don't know, a lot of late model cars turn on the hazards when you brake hard.
I would have thought turning on the brake lights would be better.

@@johnfunk4313 it's just a safety feature to warn others that you brake hard suddenly. I used to work at a Ford dealership and the European cars had it back around 2011 or earlier. It's probably become a requirement on most new cars by now.
And here I am thinking “but that’s what the brake lights are for…”

Yeah I've noticed that with my GR, the back is super unstable, especially under brakes.

Minor toe adjustment might help fix that, if it's possible on these cars.
@@StackBundle There are Camber arms as well as Camber bolts for the rear. And just as you say -> A bit of Negative Camber as well as a bit of toe in does help with stabilising the car under braking. To genuinely stabilize the rear you do need Coilovers and a good alignment though - just the way this car is and it can also be fun if you start to play with that a bit.
I was pretty upset we were not getting the gr yaris in north America, but then i found out the gr corolla is coming here, and will be selling my wrx sti.

Moog is such a tossa. Hahaha fuckin loved it. Pokemon was my first intro to Japanese culture(because of my name everyone called me Ash catch'em in primary) but i'd never seen Pokemon cause we were too poor.

I just wish it had a turbo 2.0 with that awd system. The Corolla is around 500lbs porkier than the Yaris. Still glad we are at least getting something cool from Toyota over here
I wish we would have gotten the yaris, but time will tell if the corolla is leaps and bounds better. although we did get a bit of a domestic version of both in the Fiesta st and focus st/rs. would like to see a head to head of the focus and corolla when the time comes

OG watcher, bought the rallye last year and was hoping you guys got one so I can modify it along with you, already have all type fabrications airbox, genuine gr front strut brace, genuine vented undertray, and apparently bought the last bonnet in Australia from Toyota so I can cut holes I it and put vents in it. Waiting for tax time for new exhaust 😅

Wet bits on the track... reminds me of the day I chopped everyone on the kart track in Germany. Which was sitting under a ski-slope and it was drippeling water randomly from the ski-slope down onto the track. So you had wet spots all over in the most annoying places. So you really needed to place your kart well so as to not lose too much grip whipst still putting the hammer down.

More like bringing a plastic knife to a metal knife fight.
Short wheelbase AWD can be a bit twitchy, definitely not as stable into and out of slides, but set up right you can treat them like a French hatch; brake for the corner, very slight oversteer, back onto minimal power, "chase the tail" feeding in the power around the corner to wide open out.
Guy was really not happy about loosing, still another great video!

Always love the small car episodes. The Best MOTORing channel seemed to get better track performance with the Yaris on a 50/50 split, rather than the track mode. (Edit: my mistake, track is the 50/50)
