Looks OUTSTANDING!!! Great job guys!! Might want to get something a little stronger than zip ties to secure the flag. Wind will rip it off in a heartbeat!
It is truly an honor to observe your deep respect for the flag through your dedicated efforts to display it with utmost propriety. Despite our initial interaction, your commitment to honoring our nation, is greatly appreciated. Thank you sincerely.
Thank you MBTS for keeping the flag off the ground! DP thanks for the project it was fun watching you two working together. Can’t wait to see it on the job. USA!!!!!!!!
Americans treat their flag like Muslims treat their Koran. Europeans dont care if their flag touches the ground when they take it off, its gonna get washed before next display anyways...
Mike and Aaron. you have the best attitude working together I have ever seen. It is a true pleasure watching your videos. You are truly talented at what you do. God Bless to You All.
Gotta love Aaron man. That cat is just loyal and trustworthy right to the bitter end. Congrats on bringing that old chick back to life boys. Ya done good on this one Mike. Love home and safe travels boss.
Tip you can weld the cabel ends to secure the strands a bit ,you can cut the cabel with a stick welder. Or a oxy torch, this also should also Melt the strands together .
Way to much cable on your drag. 60 about max. You don't want it climbing for second wrap, will cut cable off there. So 1 layer on drum. Seen dig video, check house rollers and be sure they rolling. If they slide they will flat out fast. Little light machine oil on all your pins and pivot points for clutches. Fowlers earth makes clutches and brakes pull. Graphite powder will make them slip if they grabby. If you put a twist in your crow's foot before hooking up it will help spool cable on drum. Put mirror up to watch cable on drums will save you from wrecking cable. Grease or pour 80-90 on point sheave will help with wear. Pour waist oil on hoist cable to keep it spoiling nice and from wearing. Lots of grease in drive sprocket bushings and idler. Open gear lube critical on bull gear and house pinion. Grease house pinion good
It's Saturday Morning and here we are with the Mike and Arron show ,guaranteed fun times watching these two string the final cable ,Flying old Glory is over the top awesome You two Rock
Great job Can't wait to see it in action. Thanks for keeping Old Glory off the ground. My heart jumped when the old one hit the ground. At 66 I'm thankful for what the flag represents. My father was a disabled Vet wounded in battle. so, I get emotional about respecting Old Glory. Thanks Mike and all the DP crew! See you on the next one! 🤠
That flag looked good, with the two Eagles flying around in the background, and it ain't even my flag. Got a suggestion for the Dirt Perfect sign at the top. Get Aaron to make up a box behind the sign, in the box, fit a solar powered garden led light, with the solar panel on the top of said box. Then at night, the Dirt Perfect would be illuminated for all of Derby to gaze apon in great wonderment. As always, great content.
Thank you for taking such special effort to show your true love of our wonderful country. The flag pole and Old Glory look great flying above your beautiful drag line.
Excellent job gentlemen ("Who came in"😂😂)! Mike, you should make the flag pole a little bit longer so that you can flag the Dirt Perfect Flag below the American Flag! Metal works sign is nice, but having your own flag will make a big impression! Also, you could have gotten more fancy and made a 3 pole bracket. Center for the American Flag, Left for the Indiana flag, and right for the new Dirt Perfect Flag! 👍👍👍👍
Hi DP. Just a suggestion. For safety sake. Sometimes I would oil on rigs. On your whip line and basically your wedge clamps. Those wedges can work loose and the cable slip through. It was required that we use saddle clamps /cable clamps . With the saddle on the live end not the cut/short end. The old saying was "never saddle a dead horse." Great job on the dragline.
You’ve done a lot more work on your dragline than Chris has. His is in pretty good shape but it needs a little work. I just set my ground sleeve for my 25 foot Service First freedom edition flag pole yesterday to honor my dad that was a Marine that died in 2019 and my son that was in the Army National Guard full time for 15 years before he was killed in 2021. My son was working towards a full career when he was killed.
Looks great guys! For the next project, you can build an adapter on the flag pole bracket to hold a Christmas tree, then string the whole machine with lights and park it up by the store this winter. MBTS and the whole DP family could have a blast helping, and who knows you might even break a record for the most likes for the coolest Christman display on UA-cam!!!!
A trick for hanging the flag... slip fit rings around the flagpole pipe with loops to attach the flag. A stop under the top ring and the bottom ring being heavy. The flag won't wrap around the pole when the wind changes direction. Harbor Freight's cheap telescoping pole essentially uses this method. (the ploe is cheap thin metal and the rings are cheap plastic, but the design of how the flag attaches is good)
Always *LOVE* when you BOTH get into a project. Ends up *PRODUCTIVE* as well as new material for *SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE* but the *mission* is always satisfied! At 18:00 come a new TV SHORTIE of *Exercise with AARON* (sponsors are already at the door!) No matter what, you guys ALWAYS get it to work! Thanks!
Just a suggestion, was a Boiler Maker most of my life and we always burn cable with a torch which melted all the strands together at both ends where the cable is being cut! Just a suggestion guys. By the way, Man behind the scenes, dang good help, recon because he’s a Boiler Maker! 😊
When you're at the storage yard, I would recommend you run a ground strap to a grounding rod in the dirt. Otherwise, you're going to have an excellent lighting rod.
Getting excited to see you guys finished. Can't believe the safety officer using his fingers to push cable over! Pierce of wood would have worked better
If you wanted to upgrade your flag mount you might wish to use a pivoting mount where the flag is counter-balanced with a weight and the pivot point is mid-way to where the balance is located. You can use an old dryer pulley with bearing and a bolt for your fulcrum. Mount the flag pole onto the pulley with U-bolts or whatever works. A flag mount of this type will keep the flag always pointing straight up into the air no matter how declined the boom is to the ground. Have fun!
Actually, we do weld cable ends together. It's done for pulling new rope through sheaves like the boom hoist cable when you have a lot of parts. It's not a fancy weld job, more like melting the two ends together with a cutting torch. Then any high spots or stray wires are melted into the ends enough that the weld fits through the sheaves and keepers. That's all it's for of course, you would never do that and lift anything with it.
Howdy Mr. Dirt, The first splash in the pond will be awesome!! One suggestion - replace the flags zip ties with steel spring clips! Those zip ties won't last long rubbing against the steel holes. Thumbs up! Stay safe! Jim
Glad to see you got it together hey just a little something you might want to do is drill ya a hole in the bottom of the pipe that the flag pole goes into so it doesn’t hold water and freeze in the winter and bust it or rust jack it together, I hope you find all the parts you need to make it complete great work guys😅
Just something to keep on the dragline…a can of Comet cleaner or similar light abrasive, to use when your clutch pads get glazed. Sprinkle some in the drum after you back off the clutch pads and it will clean the drum and scuff the pads. Great to see an old Bucyrus Erie back working. Good luck
That DP sign looks like a bird’s nest on top of the flag pole. Did y’all see the buzzards flying around checking it out @ 42:24 - 42:37. Looks good y’all !!! Now… where y’all gonna put the grounding rod now that you have a lightning rod ??? See y’all on the next one 👍
Camel time - put the long pin in the wone with big ears and the short pin in the one with small ears. Good Grief ! Oh My what a Beautiful sight ! Suggest you have drag chains from the boom to ground and be prepared for wear - as lightening protection. Something to think about. Don't want a bolt through the cables in the cab. Think guys dark clouds abound.
Dump cable looks too a be bit short. The bucket should be in the dig position when you hold up slightly with the lift line. When the lift line is slack the bucket should slide along flat. and don't forget, drag lines use a boom angle between 30 and 40 degrees. If the boom is too high the cable geometry won't work right. Don't forget the wire rope clips on all the beckets and that some of them require the U-bolt to go through the hole in the wedge above the becket clamping the dead end of the rope.
Mike looks the Wizard of Oz pulling those levers 👍 Flag is beautiful, Thank You for that. When it went up there were birds flying above, could have been Eagles.
At the 29 minute mark when you turned and looked at the camera and said "I'm happy" then walked back to the cab.. At that moment even a blind, def, and dumb person could see the absolute joy on your face, the sparkle in your eye, and the excitement in your voice. Congratulations on a job well done. Gotta love the flag pole and the DP logo on the top is awesome. Great video Mike and Aaron
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Drag line is looking great, especially with the flag in the position of honor. Looking forward to seeing it in action but unless the job is in the lot I’m expecting an interesting morning moving it to where the job is. Wishing you and your family the best.
Great job on getting the old gal running. The flag pole looks great. It will also double as a lightning rod.
She’s looking good with the Red , White and Blue waving. Good job guys.
Looks OUTSTANDING!!! Great job guys!! Might want to get something a little stronger than zip ties to secure the flag. Wind will rip it off in a heartbeat!
I love the flag pole, very nice touch
Thanks for the proper respect for the flag. Great job guys.
Nice job! Beautiful sight of the flag on top of the boom!
USA!!!!!!!!
Aren't we getting close to dropping MBTS for Aaron?😉 He is a lot less behind the scenes to our benefit.
Americans treat their flag like Muslims treat their Koran. Europeans dont care if their flag touches the ground when they take it off, its gonna get washed before next display anyways...
Nothing beats spring content in the fall 😂, your channel is going to make me feel warm all winter long.
Thanks for taking us along on every little boys growing up adventure
Mike and Aaron. you have the best attitude working together I have ever seen. It is a true pleasure watching your videos. You are truly talented at what you do. God Bless to You All.
Thank you
God bless America !😊
Thx for your patriotism !

Outstanding Top off for the Dragline! It is good to see a piece of history back in working order, I cant wait to see it on a job even just one. 😃
42:03 Turkey vultures flying overhead is always a good sign!
How beautiful is the flag waving in the breeze, You did a great job.

Good idea
@larrywhitaker4667 that way they have a year to practice 😆 🤣
Good luck and have fun, I'll be uploading my 797 American digging on my channel, Jackpine Savage Repair

You're going to get a light for the flag. You can get a solar powered light and mount it on the boom or pole. Great job! 👍❤️📹🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😃

42:52 What a beautiful sight! Old Glory hoisted high and proud on a relic of our history! The drag line is almost 100% ready to go back to work!
Aaron said it the best. Oh that’s a beautiful site. Thumbs up.

That drag is going to be GREAT for dredging ponds. Imagine you're casting a fishing pole and you'll get real good at it! A+
Well done lads
Really nice final touch when you were raising the flag boom seeing the Hawks flying around in tribute to old glory!! Nice job guys done perfect!!!

Absolutely a beauty with our American flag flying proudly
Looks great guys😎😎
Looks great. Proud to see ole glory up there flying high. Nice work!
Cable is tough to bend back into that wedge lock. I do it everyday. Is that 5/8 or 3/4. Don't need the gym to workout. Just do cable for a living
Good luck

Aaron can use the Pepsi if he sparks up a fire, after all, that’s what it was made for !😅
Your having to much FUN MR DIRT PERFECT & MBTS well if you can't have some fun at work where can you have fun SEEMS LIKE WE ARE ALWAYS WORKING
Nice to see that old iron running and operating soon. Old Glory looks awesome atop the boom.

It's been cool watching you and MBTS work on that dragline. The flag pole is a nice add on. 👍😎🇺🇸
Best thing since the U.S. Marines raised the flag on Iwo Jima!
It's going to make a wonderful lighting conductor. Well done.
That boom needs to be DP Green Bud and God bless you guys and God save America
always makes me feel proud when the flag is raised and thank all military past and present fun video thanks
💥💥 Great job and was funny watching you two guys doing it. Old glory flying real high

You guys pulled out all the stops to get two eagles 🦅🇺🇸🦅 to circle Ol Glory as you raised Her
We used to weave an I splice on the ends of cable instead of all those clamps and crap, easy to do.
God bless America 🇺🇸. Looks great and needs a light for night.
Very cool piece of dirt moving history back in action! Great job putting it back together…
Thanks buddy hope you make it home safe
@@DirtPerfect yup, safely home!
Thanks 😀
Nice job of finishing out the drag line. Like the flag, nice touch, thanks for respecting and flying our flag.
Mike looks the Wizard of Oz pulling those levers 👍
Flag is beautiful, Thank You for that.
When it went up there were birds flying above, could have been Eagles.
You now have a perfect lightening rod.
Southpaws swinging hammers scare the hell out of me. Time to go dig in the sandbox! Congrats!
Biggest lighting rod in town 😮
Fantastic job, you two. Also, good job on keeping the flag from touching the ground.

Ole Glory looking spiffy flying high in the wind ❤❤❤
Thank you and may God bless America ❤
Happy Anniversary to both of you . Hope you had a great day and have many more to come.
Use a piece of banding to guide cable around sheaves.
Great video guys, I love the pride you take in these projects.
Nice job guys! God Bless America!
Awesome sight with the Flag way up there. Great job, guys.!!
Love that Dragline to go to work .Love it .
Awesome job with the ol lady, guys! she's come up sparkling and ready to rock and roll, sans apology to poor Chris lmao!!!
It came together and you still have all your digits. Had me worried with that cable on around the drum. Flagpole is awesome.
Next time remove the guide bolt so can push cable through then push cable down into pulley then put back guide bolt! Good job guys!
Our 9-30-2023 moment. ❤
If for nothing else. It makes a great flag pole. I love to see Ole Glory waving. Hope the machine runs well for you.
