    Learn one of Slayer's greatest riffs from the song Angel of Death!
    This is a classic Slayer metal riff that is also great fun to learn and play - the middle breakdown bridge riff section from the song Angel of Death. This song was originally played in E flat standard tuning, so make sure all your guitar strings are tuned down a half step before playing along!
    This Slayer riff contains some slippery techniques, hammer-pull combos moving in chromatic order, followed by some snake like single line dissonant melody lines.

    Just started guitar today, this will be my goal to complete within the next month. If I play every day, it shouldn’t be impossible.

      A cool first lesson to start with! Yes you should be able to play all the notes within a month, just work on playing it well at a slow speed at first. The speed will come once you master the slow!

      @@pillbilly8761 I was self-teaching myself, learned it isn’t my style, and am currently looking for a teacher. I’m saving this challenge for later on.

      @@gzmgavin0729 do not worry this is not an easy riff to learn regardless of what anyone says. Practice the rhythm to Chemical Warfare by tremble picking (when you’re done learning your more important things) as long as you need. Just keep challenging yourself to go faster and faster and it eventually becomes second nature. Took me over a year to get good at it. It’s not a race, take your time. You’ll eventually be able to if you don’t get discouraged and give up. Chemical Warfare is basically just trembling open E string, then on 3rd fret of E strong, then 1st fret on E string, then pick 2nd fret of A, then 2nd fret of D string. Over and over. It also helps to just go balls on the wall holding various bar chords and trembling as fast as possible a lot too. That’s how I got fast.

      Angel of death as a whole probably isn't the greatest choice of slayer song to learn to start with, if you want to play through the whole thing.. probably the best starter song is South of Heaven, not too tricky, but honestly after playing guitar for the best part of 20 years I would say don't try to much to start with, learn some easy songs, practise on specific techniques first and learn your chords and Scales. All well and good learning cool riffs but it's tons better if you know what your actually doing atleast even a little bit. Plus if you try something to difficult you can't grasp to begin with it's more likely to put you off. Obituary are a really cool band for simplistic but heavy riffs also. Beginner friendly

    What are your settings to make that sound

    • @gitbad
      @gitbad  10 місяців тому +1

      It's pretty simple really, just straight into a Marshall combo amp (valvestate) with the distortion channel, gain set to 8, bass at 6, treble at 7, sometimes a touch of reverb. Also, the EMG pickups help give that sound too, I have the 81 and 85 EMG Zakk Wylde set in this guitar

    Would this be a good beginner song or way to hard

    • @gitbad
      @gitbad  Рік тому +1

      It depends how beginner you are. If it's your first time picking up a guitar it would be too hard. But if you have some basic skills such as hammer-ons and pull-offs, down picking etc you could start learning this, play it slow at first

  • @SuperCholdi
    @SuperCholdi Рік тому +1

    I've never picked up a guitar in my life and I'm unlikely to (I know my lane). This is insanely complex to me.

    • @gitbad
      @gitbad  Рік тому

      Well if you start learning and play for a while, this actually becomes simple. If you want to pick up a guitar, you should do it, give it at least 6 months effort to see how you like it!
