Dude I love your videos I happen to stumble across it and I’m glad I did I like that you go right into the video instead of sitting there and talking about nothing important keep up the awesome videos
If that wasn't what was causing your battery drain issue check the back side of your gauge cluster. I had that issue with an '04 Yukon Denali. I couldn't find it so I took it in & they thought it was the aftermarket remote start or the aftermarket stereo/tv. It was neither. My dash started smoking a month later. The gauge cluster had partially melted & was causing the battery to drain off it sat for more than 4 days. Put in a new cluster & no draining issues in the last 2 years.
Love the intermission jams! Nice work! Got that 8.1 on my 3/4 ton truck running with an Allison transmission! I’ve devoured all your ugly truck videos! 🙏keep them coming please 👍
I have an 01 Ranger 302 swap and have the same AEM gauge, love it! Also wired it up so when I was using the SCT tuning software, I could do the same thing you are, and lay it over. The wideband setup even had the formulas needed for converting it over to the signal I needed. I used a flush mount USB mount from amazon so instead of a lose wire, I just used a double ended usb cable and plugged the laptop into the truck.
My car came stock with the 02 sensor (which is a wideband) about 6 inches after the turbo. Also I have a GlowShift triple pod, while yours fits your vehicle much nicer my gauges definitely fit better! Top to bottom I have AFR, boost and oil pressure gauges. They all fit perfectly!
Pulsation from injectors and vibration on an electric gauges transducer/sensor on stock steel rails but not as common on aluminum rails or a mechanical gauge, seen it a lot on road course cars. Easy to run a transducer/sensor off the end of a braided line and zip tie it to the wiring harness to absorb abnormal vibrations.
Just a suggestion, maybe you could grind the pillar cover, where the gauges seat in, at an angle. I think it would take care of the bottom gage not seating properly and the face of the gauges would be at the proper angle.
Really enjoying the build thus far. Nice to see someone doing something a little different. Also, if you don’t run at least 10psi on that thing you ain’t got a pair. Keep up the great work! 👍
Stock recip engine is 12parts air:1 part fuel for cooling reasons without being too lean which causes cht and detonation, preignition. Stochiometric ratio is a theoretical ratio but physics limit us to 12:1.
You can safely run leaner than 14.7:1 at part throttle cruising (in fact you can run lean up to around 70% load). At part throttle if you keep leaning an engine out you'll get cooler egt's since you're not making as much power, you'll eventually get lean "misfires" where the engine vibrates more due uneven fuel distribution across the cylinders (this happens sooner with a carb vs mpfi), then finally lean flame out when the engine is starved of fuel. You only hurt things if you're lean and under heavy load. In the aviation world running an engine "lean of peak" egt is pretty common (15 - 18:1 AFR)...
@@shadowopsairman1583 - Meant for, yes. But also happens to resist other hydrocarbons as well. I used to make a fuel gauge kit and found out the hard way after several 'calls' about leakage.

glowshifts products are crap, im not surprised here.I personally like autometer but AEM makes a good wide band gauge that isn't super expensive. maybe pyrometer and trans temp if the cluster doesn't have that function. either way it's coming along good LT. Looks like she's running a bit lean at idle...
This build has definitely caught my attention. I see boosted LS trucks all the time but forsure the Vortec 8.1 swap on a 1500 truck is different from the rest! I actually have a Supercharged LS swapped G35, so it’s interesting to see this big beast in a 1500 2wd truck. I want to know the tire size you have for those front wheels, i have a 01 sierra extended cab with those same wheels and planning on doing same drop you did, and those tires look perfect with that setup! Can’t wait to see the power that 8.1 will put on low boost!
I've ran two of those glow shift sleeves too I mean yeah they're cheap and they just slide over the normal pillar so you have to drill into the stock pillar but I always thought mine looked pretty good I actually used an 0509 one on my 2011 because they didn't make a 2011 and the only triple pod one was way too expensive and I just did a tiny bit of trimming and if it my 2011 mustang just fine. But yeah after seeing that I think I definitely pay more for the auto meter sleeve It looked bad and it didn't even look like they pointed at the driver very well so you could just take a quick glance and then back to the road sorry that sucks it didn't work for yours I liked mine on my mustangs though
It would be a good addition for sure, to be able to keep an eye on things like spark advance, inlet air temp, and a few other things that are stored on the data but
thats what comes with the gauge kit and has all the fittings to match, plus I'd have to get a few extra fittings to use a hose barb. Once its in, the plastic tube is great, it just fights you going in
