In the show Jamie recalls a dream he had of seeing Brianna and her kids at lollybrauch and gemmy grabbing the phone saying he wanted to talk to granda. When Claire explains what a phone is to him he says he saw her once before in a dream surrounded by electric light. I believe he was referring to the first episode where he was a " ghost" that frank saw looking at Claire. Jamie Astral projects in his sleep thru time and visits his loved ones where his physical body cannot travel

Anyone that has been watching Outlander long enough should have realized that the ghost in episode 1, could have only been Jamie. It was just like in season 3, the skeleton that Claire looked at that was found in a cave in Jamaica that Joe Abernathy showed her in his office. She told him it was female and that she was beheaded, before she went back through the stones, that ended up belonging to Geillis Duncan.

A few years ago, Diana Gabaldon, herself, said that the ghost in ep. 01, was indeed Jamie Fraser! That is really not the mystery. The real question is how, and we all know why. Some of the theories expressed here at very interesting, to say the least.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙🔥❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Jamie’s ghost is the epitome of what he has been saying throughout the series, which is faith-Jamie says that nothing is lost, only changed and that’s what happens to a love one’s soul after dying. That’s why his ghost appears to be young-the way Claire remembers him. Jamie and Claire always had this strong undeniable connection whether they are and are not together, they are each other’s soulmate no matter there is a 200 year time difference. Their love story is epic, boundless, and timeless.

Frank isn't the only one to see a ghost. Brianna sees her dead father, FRANK, in the past in Scotland when she travels through stones to 'rescue' her parents from their death. (At port before boarding boat to the colonies) Claire as well, a couple times throughout the series.
Jamie knows when Claire travels since she tells him in season 1 (pricking of my thumb). I believe it's simply his ghost visiting because he knows she travels to meet him for the first time during Samhain/Halloween. Since they meet 200 years before she's in Scotland, which came first? The travel to the past or Jamie's visit to the future as a ghost? One doesn't happen without the other...hmm
Jamie also sees glimpses of the future, several times this season alone. Don't forget Jamie dies as well but chooses to not cross over (snake bite). He has something supernatural, idk what but they've definitely hinted to it.
Who else is loving Season 7? I was disappointed with 6, hated the story line of Jamie being accused and Claries issues with (a ghost) haunting her plus not being sure what to believe with Jamie. Claire wouldn't doubt Jamies word EVER. It didnt fit their narrative IMO.

And Jamie knows after really looking at Brie in the alleyway when meeting her for the first time that she’s his daughter. He also knows about the birthmark below her ear, and Claire had never mentioned it to him. He sees them in his dreams, he does have some abilities. And wasn’t he in a war in France when he was young that left him tone deaf and that’s why he couldn’t hear music to dance? 🤔🤔🤔 that’s why he can’t time travel and hear the stones. Diana has a lot of explaining to do!!! 🥰🥰😃😃 I love this series!

Theory time: Jamie's ghost was sent there by Claire when he died to put their lovestory into motion. She might be the one to put him up to it. Jamie revieled that she's always with him even when she's physically not there. The two have an incredibly deep connection. They will continue to find eachother beyond space and time . She has the ability to timetravel but might even be able to do much more with time passing. The conversation with the Native-American Shaman Nayawenne revieled as much. (Haven't read the books yet tho I have them ready, and i've only seen up to season 6 on Netflix) Let's not forget that the past had already happened the way it suposed to happen. Culloden happen, Geilis death happened, the American revolution happened. Everything that was suposed to be, simply is. Claire timetraveling is just a small pebble in an ocean. She can influence some things to the course of history but not much because that what has to happen does happen, it's already history. It's a brilliant paradox really.

Or, since they established that Jamie can see across timelines and see things of the future regarding his family. What if he can time travel in a visible form as an outlander himself (of time). He saw when Brianna and Roger came home in the future and were welcomed. Even Claire was surprised that he had actual details that were true like Mrs Graham's grand daughter Fiona. So, if time travel is taken seriously, if Jamie's dreams allow him to "walk" in the future of his family and see things - maybe he did actually see Claire while in prison, maybe he did see Roger and Brianna be greeted by Fiona, maybe he did see Claire in the window but not as a ghost but as a projection of himself visible to others like Frank. Maybe Frank saw him because he was sensitive to it as well since he did likely faintly hear Claire cry for him through the stones before she was taken. As, the time gap between Claire and Jamie is 200 years, then what if he was dreaming of who his future wife would be not knowing it was her.. Season 7 seems to have confirmed this.

The moment Clair passes through the stones; she technically dies in her present timeline. And is born/ dies 200 yrs in past with Jamie. Jamie is there in Clair’s timeline with Frank as a passed on entity to meet Clair; technically in their (Jamie and Clair) now shared afterlife together. Because Jamie died in his own timeline. And Clair technically has two births in a sense once before the stones and after the stones.

My theory is this, Jamie actually dies on at the time just before Clair shows up in 18th century Scotland, during Samhain. Being this is a magical time, Jamie is able to seek out Clair for 2 reasons, one because Clair's gift as a nurse that allows her to be beckoned to the past to save Jamies life when he is shot by the British during the scrimmage in season 1 and secondly, because of the deep love connection they share. I wonder if the first reason is the main one, for Clair to save Jamie's life.

In the book, Frank sees the highlander ghost with such a sad expression on his face. When Frank questions Claire about what he saw, one sees some of his jealous nature, since they were separated for most of the war and he was wondering if this could have been someone she took care of during the war. Wouldn't it be horrible if Jamie died at Cul-something, and everything afterwards is just a dream of his soul? I sure hope the author doesn't "pull a Dallas" on us. I would sell the books and forget all about it because that would be such a cheap trick.
