What an incredible audition! I've read all of the books several times but avoided the tv show because I didn't want 'my' Jamie to be spoiled. My husband died at the end of November and I wanted something to get me through Christmas, new year and my birthday so I decided to binge watch Outlander. From his first appearance on screen, Sam was absolutely my Jamie. He is perfect. Thanks to all on Outlander who got me through such heartbreak.
I introduced Outlander to my husband. He loved it. He died 4 years ago. How I wish he was still here to continue the story with me, I've read all the books. At 78 I may not read the ending 😢 xx

I, too, am a recent widow. My "Jamie" died of blood cancer, multiple myeloma. We enjoyed watching Outlander together. We loved the fact that Outlander shows a long marriage, a lifetime of devotion. Many of us can relate to this. Another thank you from a heartbroken widow.
Aside from being jaw droppingly gorgeous, he seems to be a decent, kind and good man. He owns the role of Jamie Fraser. No one else could have come close. Stellar acting and well done Sam!!!
Now that I’ve read Sam’s book (Waypoints) it’s really exciting to know that he got the part after so many difficult years of not having any breakthrough major role or other possibilities (like he wrote in his book). He must’ve jumped in the air when he got the part. I‘m definitely convinced that Sam Heughan was born for this role, he embodies Jamie Fraser completely, there could’ve been no other.❤

I think it would be super hard doing an audition and just slipping into a character so easily. He does it so easily.

Great audition. Sam was born to play Jamie. The role of a lifetime and the show of a lifetime.
Such luck to have caught him at the right age too. He DID look 23 at the time. And the Scottish accent was perfect, it helped tip the balace in his favour. Lucky strike! 🤗

He immersed himself in the role. Can't be easy to do just sitting there no costume no special ambiance. Amazing acting❤

It's called Acting. I've memorised two hour stage plays, easily. No retakes. Live.

No wonder you cast him in 5 minutes. He was born to play Jamie. I laughed out loud when he said, "Aye, chickens are very poor company." I've heard the line a hundred times, but still he made me laugh. I'm way beyond disappointed that Outlander is ending with season 8. I'm hoping you'll be consolidating 8, 9, and 10. If we don't find out about Jamie's ghost it would be a huge betrayal. Fans have been speculating since the very first time we saw him standing outside in the rain looking up at Claire brushing her hair. I remember Book 8. There was a lot of wandering around in deserts and maybe swamps. I have 9 on my Audible account, but stopped listening to it, then went back to the first book and am going through the whole series. I won't admit to how many times I've watched, read, and listened.
I hope Sam goes on to be brilliant in other films and series. As much as he had great luck in landing Jamie, in some way he will always be Jamie, and that's not necessarily a good thing when going on to playing a new character. I wish the absolute best for him. I think he's been incredibly smart to branch out into his business enterprises. Very smart move.

He was born to play that role, but I would go further and say .. the character of Jamie and Sam's portrayal, illustrates a romantic ideal that may now become more possible for men... Many changes in society start with literature/film/book/play/poem..

After reading his book about all the years he struggled to make it as actor, it really was the best thing that could have happened to him! It paved the way for him to become a remarkable actor and for him to be the best and only Jamie! So happy for him!❤

My husband and I have so enjoyed this series. The acting is amazing. Jamie is a wonderful character. I still laugh at the scene, first season, when he comes through the window, and says “let go of my wife”. Still that shot, and you have a cover of a Harlequin Romance book.😂

Why is he wearing same shirt in this audition tape as he does with Cat? I thought the were months apart.
For every show I watch in the back of my mind I'll often wonder how an actor got their first big break, what other roles they chose, if they're decent people off camera, or if their phones are in their 18th century coats lol Unfortunately for Sam, I've never been able to separate Jamie from him 😅 even in other roles. I kinda feel guilty for that, but also to me it's proof that some things we're just meant for.
