Man, this just makes me want to replay some of the older games... Don't take me for a nostalgia freak, I loved AC3, AC4, and was even a loyal defender of Unity when everyone hated it for its performance issues. I was also very positive about the RPG mechanics that Origins brought - I just didn't have the time to play it. But they just didn't have the same sense of wonder. Somehow, the tone of the series up to Revelations had a beauty and mystique that the later ones just didn't have... They struck a perfect balance between history, fiction, and mythology to make me feel like I was actually in the setting but never like i was in a simulator. The dark and gloomy crusader states with their dull blues and whites, the vibrant city of Rome with the flying rose petals and warm tones, Constantinople with its slightly grainy, saturated colorfulness - perhaps, I would say that back then, their art had "direction". It didn't just look good (which the recent ACs definitely do) they each had a unique visual tone. The music was definitely part of what made them so special. I still remember climbing a tower in Revelations with the sun in the background, and the music flared up; I had a tightening, sinking sensation in my heart. The visuals, the atmosphere, the music, and Ezio's story all had to blend in just the right way to give me that feeling.
@@emperortivurnis9161 Just out of curiosity, what are these arguments people make, and what are the RPG mechanics that are consistent from II through Origins?
Tiberius Cerelius Tigris I don’t think the loss of identity is due to the mechanics. I’ve enjoyed most of the new mechanics in origins and odyssey. But the story has just become so convoluted and removed from the core Desmond experience that it doesn’t really feel like assassins creed anymore. Unity is definitely a good game. the story isnt the best when put up against some of the other behemoths in the ac universe. I loved the story of Ezio, Connor and Edward, maybe the last two are just nostalgia of child me loving pirates and the colonial era haha but i genuinely loved Connors story and ambience and soundtrack. Huge fan of native american stuff, theres not enough of it. As for performance, I never have any issue in ACU, I still play to this day and I run at 4k/60fps on max settings. Im also running a 2080ti and a 9900k sooo that might explain it. I have heard that years later ACU is still an extremely demanding game in terms of hardware. But thats beside the point, it is a very smooth play for me and it is still one of the most graphically stunning games I have ever witnessed, right alongside my 400+ mod 4k skyrim. Origins is also a great game and so is odyssey, but I dont think they are great assassins creed games. Origins still has that vibe, but Odyssey kind of lost it, dont get me wrong the game is AMAZING but its just not what I really wanted out of assassins creed. I loved the old combat mechanics so much. The point of it was to feel like an unstoppable one man war machine. I think unity was a good balance between new and old combat where health and gear started to matter but also not that much especially with stealth. I get that you can only take that so far, but still. Id like to see another game adopt that style of combat. I mean... those double kill counter cutscenes tho... come on. Now it feels like your typical RPG, I feel like they did that as incentive to get people to purchase the xp and money packs..

When you're peacefully working in your office but there's that one song that starts playing that makes you really want to go explore a hidden catacomb or something for treasure. God, I love and miss this series.
That it is, some people complain about how it's totally different right now but I really appreciate the variety they bring in their games. Best franchise ever made, hope they will never stop making these.
Ubisoft aren't saints, but out of the bunch of big publishers they're the good guys. They have microtransactions in single-player games, yes, but I'm glad they STILL are publishing single-player games at all when everyone is trying to put co-op into everything to make more people buy their games. And Origins is freaking awesome!
This series really just captures the best part of history; when you hit that moment of truly understanding that it isn't just stories, just concepts, just lists of events. It HAPPENED. Our long passed ancestors lived and breathed just like we do. I always had a passing interest for history, but AC inspired me like nothing else, and I've never looked back - and I think playing it has given me a really valuable head start in viewing these historical figures as real people. What a magical series. That last track - hearing it after finishing AC2 was the first time a video game moved me to tears.
God... Listening to this takes me back. The nostalgia is hitting hard. I've tried replaying the games but its not the same anymore. Its the feeling you had while playing the game not playing the game itself. Life was so much simpler back in college. The world went and became super hostile towards the working class.
A beautiful co-incidence: In Dec 2020, whilst I was working on my MSc thesis early in the morning around 6:30 am or so, I played this video. The beauty of this was the timing, I guess. As soon as the song 'Ezio's Family' barely started, there was a beautiful sunrise with sliver of rays shining through my window to hit my PC screen and me at just the right angle. The very cold morning became suddenly refreshing due to the mix of this song, the sunrise and the accompanying warmth, all happening at the same time. The memories of me playing this game in 2009, early mornings till afternoon, during vacations, flooded back. I was tired from working on my thesis but this moment refreshed all of it and made my day!! This moment now lives only in memory. It has become like my beacon during stressful times. Thank you.
I´m studying to be a History Teacher and I LOVE AC saga. I grow with every game and protagonist and now I´m using THIS video as a song to study for my exams and it´s is giving me chillssss. Thanks for this!
I've played the assassin's creed games and I have to say, I love the plot and the characters but also the message they send to you and the feelings that the soundtracks give out, it touches your very core when I listen to the soundtracks. I use the things that I learnt from the game into reality. The three tenets and they assassin's saying, I always go back to them when I need either comfort or need to remember that nothing is what it is. "Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent." Nowadays, the blade could be your words as they can create equal amount of pain to those around. I will not use my words as my blade to harm the innocent, they will be reserved for those that act like Templars... "Hide in plain sight, be one with the crowd." I am that one that stays in the shadows, watching, listening to everything that happens around me, learning about things that could have a negative or a positive impact to others. "Never compromise the Brotherhood." My brotherhood is my family and friends, I will never turn my back to them and not to bring any danger to them, I would do anything for my family and friends. Everything that the characters say in the game, I listened and I learned what they meant, I learnt how to put those words into my life to keep my family and friends safe but also the people around me safe as well... After all... "Nothing is true and Everything is permitted"
A franchise dedicated, and respected for its complexity, it's beautiful storytelling, the unique characters, and every emotion that goes with it. But the songs, the songs never fail to disappoint me. Every single theme and melody brings not only a feeling, but a story. Stories told in the most beautiful way possible, with the characters in them. All the way from the merits of Altair, to the abilites of Ezio, to the stoic Connor, hell even the drunk and charismatic Edward. To not only make a game to kickstart this amazing franchise, but to be consistent through the next few games, just blew my mind as a game fan. How? How???!!! How do you achieve such a fantastic plot? You don't have to make the characters cool, THEY ARE COOL. They're *Assassins*. Climbing from rooftop to rooftop is the coolest feeling, is it not? To Assassins Creed 1. Wow, what a brilliant concept. This idea of a game dedicated around a Creed, a brotherhood. I don't think any of the writers at the time knew what kind of success they would not only create with this game, but for games to come. To the Ezio Trilogy. There's a reason you got three games. What a fuckin' character. A charismatic, charming man who like Altair, dedicated his life to the Creed. Playing those three games really showed who Ezio was. His past, his present, his personality, his present. And even his future. A man so loved by fans that they just had to give him another game, and even another over that. To Assassins Creed 3. Connor's story is one that I always love, but even more interesting was the hate and backlash his character got. Him being emotionless, ill-tempered, and his motives were questionable. But I have to appreciate Connor and his story for who he is. A man not understanding the ways of the world and joining the brotherhood by the frail age of 18. It was clear he still had much to learn as a person. And for the rest I'm sure everybody has their own experience. Black flag brought in a new basis, away from the lands and buildings and to the sea. But I'm afraid the series is now going down a bit. Sure those games have their unique gameplay styles and they are even fun to a lot of players. But I felt like after Desmond died, the "assassins creed" element started to go away. I miss it. I miss all of it. But I'm glad that it happened.
“Where other men blindly follow the truth, Remember, nothing is true. Where other men are limited by morality or law, Remember, everything is permitted. We work in the dark to serve the light. We are assassins.”
I love how the music in each game gives you the Assassins Creed feel but are still different enough that you can almost tell which game each piece is from, just from the style and instrumentation alone. I think it just goes to show how incredibly talented the composers are and how much as fans we love these games
I use this video very frequently as background noise when I'm studying for my college courses or completing assignments, and I swear I always get goosebumps every time "Winds of Cyrene" plays. Sarah Schachner is probably the most underrated composer in the whole franchise. Such beautiful and atmospheric music!!
@@shiladityaacharya Yes, the Roman tracks really capture that setting and feel, I'm yet to find a good equivalent to these gems as you call them. I quite like Lorne Balfe's Homestead as well, i'm pretty sure that wasn't featured in this video, they're all so enchanting
@@safak1943 That game had something much deeper than simple sci-fi, something so beautiful........ that you can't describe it using words......... I wish they make remake of the first game. It would be fantastic! Nothing is true, everything is permitted brother!
It had some kind of...wisdom, of how this world is wrong and society is broken. The wisdom of, that we all live for something that we actually don't believe, that everyone is wrong. People usually say that, if there would be no rules and law, it could end up with chaos and destruction....... but first Assassin's creed...... gave me a small lock..... a tiny glimpse of.......... how beautiful and perfect would be our world, if everyone knew, that nothing is true and everything is permitted. It's not a typical sci-fi, it is a legend about a warrior who actually understood the truth! This game makes me sad, about how bad things works in our society today!
@@st8vie282 I mean not typical remaster but full 100% overhaul remade. Something like Resident evil 1 and 2 remakes. On that level, but with same core idea. Wouldn't that be AMAZING?
@TheTruth Spy But the world wouldnt have come as far as it has, and probably wouldnt last without government. People are mean and sometimes dont have eachothers best interest in mind, you need governments to try to minimise violence, and generally just advance the species to the point that we might not need mass government one day.
I'm learning Arabic right now and listening to this music while trying to read and translate middle-age Arabic books makes me feel like Altair reading tome after tome to find out the secret about the apple of Eden.
Assassins Creed may not be the greatest franchise of games in history, or still have the charm the older games had on us all. But there isn't another game series on the planet that can bring me to tears with its music or stories. I wont make this post a sob story, but the music in these games has helped me realize emotions that I've had to suppress for a long time. Even now sitting here listening to 'You've Earned Your Rest' I'm tearing up. Its nice to come back here and remember them. Laa shay'a waqi'un moutlaq bale kouloun moumkine
I just downloaded Assassin's Creed 1 on my Xbox 1, which means starting from the very beginning. I love these games. I truly feel like I'm living their lives through the storyline and storytelling. ❤
This is so peaceful. Listening to this makes you hear the journey from proud begins, to shameful memories, from tragic loses to hopeful endings; it's just beautiful.
I work from home and I'm an avid fan of AC games. I've listened to my fair share of AC playlists while I work, but this one is by far my favorite. You've done a really good job with this. :)
I drunk many alcohol a few hours ago, and now, I listen to this ambient AC music mix. Amazing! Wow! Travelling back to History! Thank you and peace from Hungary!
This is the best mix of assassin creed songs I've ever heard. Full applause and appreciation for this work my friend. The mixing is fantastically done!
Thank you for giving me a huge dose full with nostalgia and relax. (to be honest, I almost cried when "Ou la mort" comes... It brings back some sad, but beautiful memories.) You have all my respect for making this mix!
I just want to take a moment to appreciate how seamless the transitions are. I only realize the song has changed way after it's happened, and that really adds to the impression that the history of the AC franchise is continuous and everlasting.
This is my second comment... I so much want to thank you again and again and over and over again!!!!!... I literally feel like my heart and soul is being touched every single time I listen to this mix!!..
This is definetely the best ac soundtrack video I've found yet . Dude , your selection is amazing. There is like a lto of ac osts that I didn't even recognize And I listen to ac soundtracks since 2009 . All my life . Thanks for this video
I grew up with Assassin's Creed, I played essentially all of the games and I still absolutely love the series. All of us have the game series that we grew up with, that we were obsessed with any loved most as kids. Assassin's Creed is that series, for me. I played the hell out of this game, I probably finished the campaign for Assassin's Creed Revelations, Assassin's Creed 3, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag like 6 or 7 times, at least. I still go back and play them once and a while on my old Playstation 3. I love this series, and while I may not love the last three games as much as I loved the older ones, this series shall remain in my heart until I'm an old man.
Assassin's Creed and Metal Gear Solid are tied for my favorite video game OST of all time. I took a break from MGS after beating all of the games several times & finally got around to playing AC. They equally tug at the heartstrings and inspire change; in my opinion. I'm grateful for being able to experience such beautiful sounds with unforgettable characters and memories. From Altair and Ezio, to Naked Snake and Solid Snake. My (virtual) heroes.
Bro the track placement is so on point, keep on doing ur thing this was so calming for me. brought back so much nostalgia, like u played my favorite track from the original ac and then transitioned to my fav in black flag, the last one I played and brought it full circle so beautiful
This game will always be special to me and my brother! I will go to Italy one day and while I'm going through the canals of Venice or standing at the Duomo in Firenze, I will have the Ezio family soundtrack in the background! What an impact this game has had on me and my brother! Love the Ezio and Altair series to death! Iconic game characters of our time!
Listened through the whole list and enjoyed all of it. But when it transitioned to Ezios Family my entire soul lit up with warmth and nostalgia. Favorite soundtrack of all time

It has its issues, but AC is one awesome franchise.
yeah but i hope it'll get back to its roots one day.
Well said.
That about sums it up.
I love that the best music was saved for the last.
Ezio's family...
Ezio's Family is just like the Avengers theme. Its the song that unifies the entire franchise.
A true masterpiece 😢
Thank you.
Jesus Christ Bless You ❤️
I´m studying to be a History Teacher and I LOVE AC saga. I grow with every game and protagonist and now I´m using THIS video as a song to study for my exams and it´s is giving me chillssss. Thanks for this!
I am a teacher and I grade assignments to these videos!
"Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent."
Nowadays, the blade could be your words as they can create equal amount of pain to those around. I will not use my words as my blade to harm the innocent, they will be reserved for those that act like Templars...
"Hide in plain sight, be one with the crowd."
I am that one that stays in the shadows, watching, listening to everything that happens around me, learning about things that could have a negative or a positive impact to others.
"Never compromise the Brotherhood."
My brotherhood is my family and friends, I will never turn my back to them and not to bring any danger to them, I would do anything for my family and friends.
Everything that the characters say in the game, I listened and I learned what they meant, I learnt how to put those words into my life to keep my family and friends safe but also the people around me safe as well...
After all...
"Nothing is true and Everything is permitted"
Oh my gawd *YOU* YOU* ARE A MAN/WOMAN OF CULTURE. BIG RESPECT
Takes me back to a simpler time

I played the hell out of this game, I probably finished the campaign for Assassin's Creed Revelations, Assassin's Creed 3, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag like 6 or 7 times, at least. I still go back and play them once and a while on my old Playstation 3.
