Can you believe that this was the first Vulf song that I heard? 4 weeks later, I've listened to nothing but Vulfpeck, Vulfmon, Theo Katzman. The musicianship displayed by everyone involved with Vulf is absolutely fantastic, and they've easily become one of my favorite groups in a mere 4 week span. Thanks for this song and all the others, Jack.
I discovered Vulfpeck 4 years ago at 31, so don't be hard on yourself 😅 I said to myself : "wow, we still can do great music nowadays" I was so relived. 😊😊😊
Check out more common cross-collabs: Pomplamoose (Jack Conte, Ryan Lerman, Scary Pockets, Stories, Magazine), Louis Cole (Knower, Genevieve Artadi, Sam Wilkes, Rai Thistlethwaite), Lawrence (Clyde & Gracie), Cory Wong (and nearly everyone he has collab'd with, such as Hollie Hammel, Phoebe Katis). Then you've got "power-collab" artists like dodie and Ben Folds that have done collabs with all of the above multiple times, pretty much. All these people trading ideas with each other. It is an incredible time to be a music fan.
If I didn't read the credits, I would've bet money this was a Theo song. With one of those choruses that has like a million syllables in it. lol. This is great.
After listening to this, I just called up a best friend of nearly ten years who hurt me pretty badly around a year ago and hadn't spoken to since. Thank you both for expressing the beauty of forgiveness through low volume funk, it was exactly what I needed to hear today
I wonder if Jack or Evangeline wrote the lyrics. Either way I think most people can relate to the theme of longing for someone who is unsure of what they want. Her voice is perfect for this kind of tune
I'm obsessed with the subtlety in this video. There's very clearly a conversation happening between these characters, even though one person is talking. The camera flashes over to him in just the right moments to see how her words are affecting him. The next words in the song seem to respond to his body language, and you can tell she's trying to probe him to just get the words out from behind the façade. Masterful storytelling in so few words. Lovely.
Did you watch James Jamerson Only Used One Finger? This song follows on immediately from the end of that video, so in the most literal sense it seems this song is her response to what he just said in the conversation.
Everything about this is top notch. I have to remark about the color grade! I love it. I want it! Deep cools but the oranges in the background aren’t lost and the skin tones are perfect. Where’s the VulfLUT? Haha
A convenient LUT would be nice, but the look is very reminiscent of certain types of 35 mm film photography. Don't do color editing myself, but are there pre-existing LUTs designed to replicate stuff like slide film or stuff like 400 ISO Fuji 35 mm stock?
@@halcyonacoustic7366 If you watch to the end of the video, she taps the mic and mouths "is this on? did it catch that?", or something along those lines. so, I think that was a nod towards them not using the audio from the mini mic.
Yngwie Malmsteen and the Japanese Philharmonic orchestra introduced me to Igorrr, Igorrr introduced me to Clowncore, Clowncore introduced me to Louis Cole, and that clown led me here. Its been a hell of a ride, and this is absolutely stunning, you lot are such accomplished musicians, it's an absolute honor and joy to listen to your work, much love and greetings from South Africa
I recently lost my bassist to suicide and this song has really helped me cope with the immense amount of emotions I've had lately. It wasn't the intention of this song but thank you. We all pull what we need from music at different times.
I mean, come on! Another classic. They make it look so easy. And to add they make the best low budget videos that just let the heart of the music shine.
Been feeling like the world and everything in it was against me. This song helped me get perspective and remember all this temporary. Doin gods work Vulfpeck ❤
I love the segue from ‘Gotta Be Mine’ to this goes, “Were you able to follow that?” With an instant “No” followed by another instant classic track. Dot feels really special.
Highlight of the new year so far. Favorite two chord progressions + vulfmon chill vibe on the electric keyboard and a new amazing voice... did not expect this gift!
Interesting production - the organ and "bass drum" are nice and hazy sounding, and the lead vocal is super clean and crisp. Works super well together and is a great little attraction beyond the outstanding writing and performances.
I knew I wanted to check this out because I enjoy your music, but this wasn't what I expected in a very good way. It really hit me. Beautiful work, thank you.
Jack has the drum kit industry on it's KNEES
😆
He'll seize the occasion to record a respectfully drummed rhythm on their conveniently placed heads, I'm sure of it
It's praising the lowly potato at this point
the potato does have a satisfying thunk tho
Sometimes simple is all you need.
Where does homey keep finding these vocalists who break your heart in one line ❤
I'm so fortunate I get to climb this mountain with Jack and witness his journey while supporting his dream.
The man has great taste , simple as that I guess
It heals my heart, I'm not crying, you're crying! 🥲
@jellypunk1495Some say dilettante
tho ^^
It helps if you have a killer tune

I always recommend the Live at MSG performance to complete strangers, it's just incredible
This is so beautiful
that’s crazy that big joel is here
That's big coming from Joel
big joel!!!!
heeyyy, it's my man regular sized joe
this topic was too big for little joel
In my mind, Vulfmon has entered the ranks of elite tappers.
One of the best tappers in his age bracket for sure
Top 3 Funk Tappers of all Time.
@@L.DacreTynan Underrated
extreme tapping paid off on this one, but extreme yapping paid off in james J used one finger
Constantly cutting to Jack's contemplative face while hitting the kick pedal is perfect.

If you ever wondered what Jack’s dreams sound like; this is it.
Dare I say - what of the nightmares, what could they sound like?
@@valhallabownd exactly the same
I didn't, but thanks anyway.
I can’t stop watching this. It feels like a weighted blanket on my chest in the most calming way.

Yes!
how smooth, how subtly funky. y’all don’t miss!
and so low volume!

Wholesome as fuck. I should message my best friend too
So funky... and low volume!
This is absurdly beautiful.

Jack always has the best foliage in his yard. They must provide the perfect outdoor acoustics.
great for low volume
He used only ONE finger

She was kind of a reporter, he seems like a therapist who's getting affected as he listens

One of the most subtle and intricate baselines of any Vulf production
Very chromatic
Immediately my favorite song of the past few months. An absolute masterpiece.
Same here. This is stupidly good.
here we go again, new vulfmon albums are my favorite emotional rollercoasters
Evangeline's voice hits different... smooth like butter.
The bruise on Jack's hand tells us about the amount of takes 😂
But he only used ONE FINGER. xD
Cameras often boost the colours so it's probably way less irl

I'd believe the audio is from a mini mic, but whatever mic it was, it was about 2 inches from her mouth. Not from her lapel.

That's beautiful! Lots of love, dear stranger!
You put my exact reaction into words. True art inspires art
Edit: Terribly wonderful is just such a nice phrase
Crazy to think that just a couple years ago I saw Evangeline singing jazz at a local theatre in Evanston and now she’s making songs with Vulf!
Evanston woop woop
Evanston WY rocks! 😂
Another fantastic tune by the Vulfmon! Thanks Jack and Evangeline for continuing to shower us with great music.

Everything about this is KILLING ME WITH HOW BEAUTIFUL IT ISSSSSSS. Her vocals are INSANE
Of all the lovesongs that people write, Jacks just seem so different. Like he never even stepped on the ground, always floated above it.
even letting go enough to stop listening to the song is poetically linked to this song
Jack is a genius

Jack's troubled expression looks like a romantic emotion. And that enhances the beauty of this song. I think.
Please please please do a piano tutorial of this. It’s so good! I know you played this tune Jack!
Check out Alex Franklin's channel, he did a piano cover of this song that shows the keys, and also posted the chords in a comment.

I can’t tell you man how excited I am to play this!!
every time, Jack's stuff gets better. Thanks for that one, it hits the perfect vibe I was looking for lately

Beautiful song. Been learning this lesson quite a bit lately, after having existed in despair through attachment for too long.
Good luck with this, take care 😊
Day 6: Still love this song

Could they make this song longer so I don’t need to keep replaying it? I want this to be the soundtrack to my day
