Hey ya fogey, the mangrove propagule you got is the mangrove sapling. Go back to the temple with a brush, there is some suspicious sand in there that you can brush and get treasures. You can also brush sand and gravel in the underwater temples. You will want the sniffer eggs. Put the eggs on moss and they hatch to give you sniffers. The sniffers will get you flower seeds. Get green dye by cooking the cactus. Get coral with a silk touch pick axe. Get bee hives the same way, but wait till they are in the hive or you'll get stung.

‘Piercing’ is used only on a crossbow.
The mineshaft generally has lots of chests and a cave spider spawner or two. Plus gold, iron, coal and heaps of rails.
Mangrove swamp is different to a swamp. Both exist.

Just a fun side thing to do: certain structures will spawn with special types of gravel or sand that can be brushed (crafted with a stick, a feather and a copper ingot) to uncover random loot. Some newer items in the game can only be found this way. The "suspicious sand/gravel" looks almost identical to normal sand/gravel, but with a very subtle almost cracked texture to them. They can be found inside Desert Temples and Ocean Ruins, as well as at archeological dig sights, which usually are marked by two or three random terracotta blocks on the surface. Do not try to mine the suspicious gravel/sand, as they will break and not drop anything. You have to use the brush on it for several seconds, and you will see the item slowly emerge.

I feel like ever since the 1.18 update (Caves and Cliffs update), the world's terrain has gotten even more varied, making exploration exciting again, especially to those who are "coming back" to modern Minecraft.

curse of vanishing mean when you die the item vanishes. gold spawns naturally in Badlands biome. the mangrove propagules are the saplings. 24:36 your journal is in the top row 1st slot :P

The curse of vanishing means you lose it on death, and the curse of binding means you keep it in your inventory on death.

You can click banners with a map and will appear in your map as a waypoint, the banners can be named to describe an area

I don't know if this is an option in the beta version you usually play so forgive me if it is and you don't turn it on on purpose. But if you go to your accessibility settings you can click subtitles on and it will tell you in the bottom right corner what and where all the sounds are around you.
Also loving this play through, it's so fun watching you discover everything. As a huge skyrim fan I love you naming your dog Lydia, and I think the other should either be Sven or Faendal since they are usually the first follower we all get. I'm going to watch your skyrim playthrough now
