Everybody has their own method of losing weight that works! Today we are talking about something that goes beyond the weight loss and into building a positive habit. I hope you like the vibe of the new videos. It's not really focused on being a clown but it's my humor with daily thoughts. Welcome back family :)

I just had to come back to this video months later and let you know david that this was the video that changed my weight around. i saw this video 5 months ago and knew i had to do something. Anything. So i changed the way i ate, then i decided to walk to work everyday. Mon.-Sat. Its a 3 mile walk to get there. The person who got in my way was myself. I always thought to lose weight i had to join a gym and start running and doing intense workouts but i knew i physically wasnt ready for that. So i walked everyday! And here i am 40 pounds lighter. Just by walking. Eating a balance meal. (Yes. I still treat myself) but ive made it a habit to not over eat and to at least walk a mile, ride a bike, dance. Whatever.

I have recently lost almost 30lbs and walking was THE THING that helped me lose most of the weight. Of course I cut out carbs and sugar as much as I can but the waking aspect was so organic when it happened. I built up the stamina and now I run almost every other day and my body is at a point where I am in disbelief that I did that. Like hell yeah I am not that fat ginger anymore and I look strong and fit. It’s still a day to day struggle, but I’m doing it because I want to set an example for my friends and family to be healthy. Been watching you for years and super proud of your weight loss! ❤️❤️

+pulp fiction Hey, I have a question. So from the time you started 7 a day to the time you lost 65, roughly how many months did it take? I'm definitely up for walking, maybe not that much as I'm a novice. But I'd like to hear the results and time frame first hand. I'm obese so walking is pretty easy on my body. I CAN run but uh....not for long lmao.

Joe Lopez first and foremost learn to track your macros lol and the first cut i did i dropped 35lbs in 3 months then took two months off eating normal, didnt gain any weight. Then i did a second cut dropped the other 30lbs in another 3 months patience is key. I lifted and did a push/pull/legs routine at the gym. 215-150

I’m the same too I was going back and forth with my weight. When my doctor recommended I get a dog so I can walk him. Been walking him everyday for 2 hours for the past 4 months and lost about 20 lbs. I still need 50 more to loose but I totally agree with the habit idea. Another tip is to find something you thoroughly enjoy either that be making videos, knitting, or just asking to someone. I’m an 8th grader going onto High school next year. Just found myself eating out of boredom so I started doing something else. Something that I loved more than food (literally nothing til I met this dude).

David, you offer really great advice. How you were before - yeah, that's me right now. I'm 25 and I have been fat my entire life. My weight fluctuates like a roller coaster all the time.. and I am honestly so, so tired of it. I would go on spurts of working out and crash-dieting, but when I hit that plateau, I immediately lose all motivation and gain it all back, as if it was going to be a smooth and steady road to weight loss.
I like how you approach this problem in another way, and I believe that healthy habits (that actually stick) are what will contribute the most to your health. I will start walking more asap, and to lay off the junk food. I know I eat for emotional support, and it needs to stop.
Thank you so much for making this video.

      You go!
You can do it, i know for a fact you can.
A focused mindset and will power is all you need!!
There are people all around the world without a meal to eat, there are people who are victims of human trafficking and forced to do sex acts for years upon years without any hopes of escaping.
Just think of what they are going through, and look at yourself and ask if you're going to let some fat hold you back from evolving into the person you're supposed to be!! The current you, isnt you! Fat is not what defines you, fat is holding onto you and pulling you down, it's making you depressed and sad, it's a disease on you and ONLY YOU CAN REMOVE IT. GO ON AND DO IT NOW! REMOVE THIS DISEASE FROM YOU!

Used to be 210 lbs, and I was so desperate to loose weight but everywhere people get saying "you need a professional trainer" or "you need to go to the gym". Though, I hate the gym and my parents spent so much money on a special trainer but it didn't work. So, I watched genuine UA-camrs (including David) and no I'm 160 lbs, and that's just by walking, stretching sometimes in the morning and having a food diary so I know what I'm eating. SO SIMPLE. Thank you David, still not at my goal weight, but I will be.

When I first started helping my mom lose weight the first few months we used walking to improve cardio, then moved to Zumba classes, finally her motivation and cardio levels were so high she began using 5 lb dumb bells to improve strength. 1 year later lost 30 lbs. 1 small goal at a time daily to make habits is very true.

Congratulations on the weight loss! I'm so happy for you! I know how hard it is to do it. :)
I have lost 45 pounds since the last summer myself and it also started out with walking. The fact that I even went outside helped a lot.
I started walking every day for at least 30 min and then it became more and more. Now I walk at least 10.000 steps a day and let me tell you it hurts. Because I broke my foot 2 years ago and it is still hurting. But you just have to keep going.
I also changed my food habits, began eating healthier and a couple of months in I began training in a fitness center.
So there is a lot of different things there goes into losing weight as you said. It's not just train and train. You have to make everything part of your routine.
Plus don't get fixated on the pounds. I only weigh myself once a month, with something called a "Tanita test" and it measures the weight, fat percent/mass, muscle mass and a lot of other things. Even there I don't really look at the pounds. I look at the fat and muscle mass to see if they are changed.

David, you have no idea how much I needed this video. I've been struggling with my weight since college and have tried everything. I've went through so much ups and downs to lose weight that I felt like nothing was working. I felt like I needed to go to the gym everyday in order to lose weight but this made me even more frustrated. From going to the gym, taking workout classes, or going on a diet - I could never sustain this. Now I've been walking to and back from work (about 6+ miles) for the past week and feel so much better about myself. It's still a struggle but I feel good every night looking at my steps/how much i've walked. Thank you!!!!!!!

I forced myself to go to the gym and do 2 miles of cardio a day on the treadmil.
After 2 weeks it really did become a habit like you said and I felt like I had to do it now as part of my daily routine.
So I do believe you here 100%. Going to the gym also made me 2nd guess everything i eat and made sure I ate more veggies and fruits than greasy food.
Thank you for the comment you said about people saying "You NEED to push yourself"
I have a cowoker that does cross fit and he said a true workout is only when you are completely worn out at the very end of your session and can;t even move.
That's the only way to see progress. i told him thanks but I'll do it my way.

I am happy for you David. You are looking a lot better now that you have started doing something about it. I have also started working out myself now for about a month and I have lost over 15 pounds. For years it was always the same " I am gonna work out tomorrow" excuse and finally I had enough of it and started to just do something about it. The fact that I have started to be able to fit some pants that I haven't been able to wear in years is motivation enough to keep on keeping on. Good luck with your journey David, I wish you the best!

I really want to supplement what David said. Growing up I was a really big guy (if you saw Up, I basically looked like Russell). But in my senior year of high school, I had lost a massive amount of weight because I had picked up boxing. But more than that, I would walk home about 2 miles from school every day because my parents couldn't pick me up. But that walking slowly turned to jogging, which turned to running (In my desire to get better fit for boxing). Yes, I lost weight doing long intense workouts, spending a few hours a day working out. But the biggest thing as David had mentioned was that I made it a habit. There were days where it wasn't optimal and it was raining, 104 degrees, etc. but partly because of necessity and partly because of habit, I would start following the routine without really thinking about it.
I know that a lot of times, routine can indeed make life boring; It's what many people attribute to the dissatisfaction with their lives. But routine is also important and is honestly your greatest tool. When things become routine, the work becomes easier, you don't need to spend as much effort on going and instead spending it focused on the workout itself. All that effort you would spend pushing yourself to go is now spent pushing yourself further or just simply on other things (and that's fine too!). Building habits and routine can be your greatest asset.

i'm really happy that you posted this video david. walking is such a simple and necessary task to do but when it's integrated into your life as exercise, it can make a HUGE difference. i'm a college student and before my classes i go for a walk around my campus lagoon (i go to UCSB so i get to see the pacific ocean too which is an AWESOME bonus). anyways, taking that walk everyday adds an additional 3,000+ steps into the 4,000 i get just from walking to my classes. i noticed that my legs got leaner and i just felt great overall. i relate to everything that you said in this video, from the fluctuating weight to feeling like your health is kicking you in the ass once you get older. i hope you read this because you're one of the few people in the youtube community that's genuine to their audience and that's what we really need especially with these "influences" who only want to be popular. anyways, you're looking REALLY good and i'm so proud of how much you've accomplished the past couple of months in terms of fitness. you're a fucking boss and thank you for this video :)

I'm exactly the same in the sense that it's all mental. I will do this. Like you said, I'll start with a month. I do enjoy jogging so I'll start with that, a mile a day at first. I also will quite smoking weed for this whole month to also bring down my tolerance. Thank you David, you were so brutally honest with yourself that it inspired me to be brutally honest with myself. And the truth is, I'm a fat fuck, lazy, and need to lay off the weed long enough so I can regain control of my life. Thank you!

yo when i was 15 years old i was 265 lbs heavy (like a elephant) i started dieting like crazy and after 1 month i lost 45 pounds at this point i started exercising everyday for 45 min in my room with some 60 pound dumbbells and my bodyweight and i started running 3 miles everyday and after 2 months i lost another 30 pounds. I was really fit but still a little fat. So i started running everyday for 4h or when i didnt have enough time i run 6 miles (my record is 1 mile in 6:30 mins). And i went to the gym for 2 h 6 times a week. My lowest bodyweight was 180 lbs and im 6 feet (pretty normal bodyweight). It look me 4 months to transform my life my body and my mindset. A couple of months ago i started mma and boxing and in 6 days i will have my boxing debut in munich Germany. If i can inspire anybody when i first started i couldnt even run 200 meters. Everybody starts little but when you try to break through your limits everyday you will become a better version of yourself when you wake up the next morning.
PS. I will win my boxing fight there is no losing for my win or die!
    Love you all

It was really wack but I started a journal with my weight loss. I liked writing when I was in school so this was a jump to get back with a passion. Had 3 sections: Daily Journal(tidbits about my day to day personal life), Food Details(reflections about what I ate and what I improved on food habits although not necessarily counting my caloric intake), and Exercise(how it felt to exercise that day, and how it felt when i didn't). I've been so sedentary coupled with really bad depression and social anxiety. I was literally a vampire. I had to take vitamin D supplements lmaoo.
But seriously though we have to start from somewhere. I walk every other day or so to the park and back. Some days I don't do an exercise video. Some days you eat a bit than you expected. Sometimes Im too lazy to write that day but I end up just doing a fast list rundown of my day just so i can finish that day's section. But once you start your journey and you start recollecting the stuff you do; you are super aware and you start realizing the habits that you can progress from. I've cut out white rice (Im an Asian too. So hard bro). And the sort of stuff you realize you really need to ingrain in your mind. I think what people need to realize is when you start you have to compromise with yourself, but also not being tempted to throw it all away again. Disciplining yourself isn't easy at first, but you gotta build on it like everything else.
I started my weight loss and journal two months ago; and I've lost 15 pounds. Not the best weight loss ive heard of in a few months but Im mastering my lifestyle and corresponding it with weight loss. I would rather choose a slow and steady weight loss than a fast one that i can't upkeep. Im 17, and started at 190 pounds two months ago. l told myself I was never going to reach 200 for as long as i live. My real goal isn't a number but just feeling good and confident. I am thinking of 130 pounds or below. The thing David said about doing it for yourself really hit me.
Going to clip this video in my journal lol. If anyone's interested the "journal" I use is OneNote but if you don't have Microsoft Office you can use Evernote for now. Maybe even a physical paper journal? All you need to know is just put your thoughts down on paper and not to take it too seriously (dont think about grammar/conventions unless you want your journal to be contrived of that perfection). But I've realized it doesn't matter when its just a personal reflection. Just be straight up and don't get caught up in making your journal too embellished if you don't want it/need it to be. After an exercise I had to just write everything I felt before losing my memory about a certain workout or being too distracted to continue. But really, you do you, you know yourself best honestly. Maybe a journal habit isn't the best thing for you, but I can say habit upon habit fixes other habits - at least for me.
PS but don't make your habits chores. you might develop a bad relationship about it (lazy, inconsistent, putting it off, getting irritated) . make it a slow development where you can communicate if you feel good or bad when you do or don't do it. gotta converse with yourself and get to know yourself.

I had always been "skinny fat" and despised exercise since I was in primary school. So while I was never overweight, I was very unfit and eating very unhealthily but also expecting to be toned. I started getting some health problems and my mental health was deteriorating too. I was walking to and from work everyday (all up 40mins of activity) but I thought I needed something more. It quickly become apparent to me that it was less about my appearance but more about my general sense of wellbeing. Eventually I got pissed with myself for being in a slump and started working out and eating better. 20 mins at the gym 3x a week; absolutely nothing like what the fitness gurus are doing but still something. It's been 6months since I started and I've lost a little bit of weight. While my health isn't 100%, I feel so much better having cleaned up my diet and increasing my physical activity. Still not meal prepping, nor training like the fitness gurus, but I've made progress in feeling happier and more energetic and to me, that's the most important thing.
Totally resonate with David about learning to accept that not everything I do is going to give me an immediate 180 degree difference. It really is about taking it slow and setting small achievable goals. I've since applied this to my studies as well, and my grades have never been better! To those who are embarking on similar pursuits: be patient with yourself and chip away at it a day at a time!

You explaining your journey resonates so much. I went up and down, up and down, learned and re-learned. I was ok when I was younger still running all over the place. But when 30 hit and had a kid to boot, that realization not being as mobile was the crashing weight. Seeing it being that much harder to get that loss in. It wasn’t the appearance, as much as it was the ability to do things.
Still moving and grooving, blood panels were still awesome, but just wasn’t at my peak level, like I used to be, and I took that as a challenge. I wasn’t my best. So I’m no longer 300 lbs, but I got a way to go, still. Your vids about this issue, keeping it real, but adding humor. It helps so much. So just know that. Thank you.

    So glad for you man.
I dont know you personally nor do you know me, but i watch a lot of your videos, especially when you're featured in JKN.
But i'm always worried about your weight when i see you, and eating so much bad food and how it may affect your health. And when you have people around you like Bart, Joe, Nadeem, and the entire Barbell Brigade community, i wonder if anyone feels "scared" to tell you something about it. I know for one if i was your close friend i'd tell you about your weight without hesitation because i'd care about you, and i'd let you know the type of person/friend i am.
See the way the "fat community" deals with being fat is by pushing out people who tell them about their health problem and by shunning out the comments made at them and calling it "fat shaming". It's a disease and an excuse to not keep yourself healthy. But anyway enough of my rambling, i'm just happy you're on the right track and i hope u can make it to at least 150, that would be awesome! And i'm sure it will make everyone around you more relieved.
