OH!!
THAT'S what my big purple stone is that I thought was Amethyst but learned better by watching your videos!!
@@mooneyfinemineral I mentioned this crystal to you in an email once, and then forgot to follow up on it.
Why did they stop mining for these crystals?
@@timkai This location specifically was actively mined for nearly 30 years. It just became mined out. There is a single quarry that produces a few specimens every so often but they get snatched up by one larger company really really quickly. It just got mined out. The stuff from Elmwood Tennessee is still being mined but the mine shut down any collecting at all. So that stuff has gone wonky. You'll still find some interesting fluorites coming from Spain, China, Brazil, Ohio, and some other places but the Illinois stuff was the biggest and best - and over the last 5 years collectors have really gone nuts over it so the prices have gotten insane. Well for quality crystals. There's a lot of cleavage specimens floating around.
so beautiful
Cheers!
Soo beautiful. I’d love to have that in a nice display with a light under it 😎
Ohhh yaaah!

@@mooneyfinemineral good ol definitely not real grape but purple flavor
❤❤❤❤❤
Gorgeous! What kind of price tag goes on this?
It's sat at about 750.00 for four or five years now. Most of that is locality and size based.
I knew it'd be costly. Lol can I do layaway?!❤🎉
@@Chamonix.frequently Actually, yes. Yes you can. If you're interested toss me a message at j.m@mooneyfinemineral.com
OMG!!!!!🤤💜💜💜💜💜
I love fluorite, its so pretty. But I cant work with it. I tried cutting it. But I am just learning, trying to teach myself. But it keeps cracking. To soft
The unfortunate part is that people don't notice the pre-existing fractures when they first start out with it. Especially when dealing with mine run and cleavage pieces. You'll get there!
@@mooneyfinemineral yes, that was part of the problem. Not that I wasn't looking. Part of the problem is learning how to see it without someone there to help me. But I am nowhere near skilled enough to work with that yet. Plus the pieces I got were beautiful but not that great pieces. So I moved on to less valuable and harder stones. Mostly stuff I found in Erie. That is much more economical to learn on lol.
Wow
:D
He has a scary laugh
❤ nice
😍🥰😍🥰😍
😱😱😱😱
That's something you find in fortnite
Maybe 😂. Never played, myself.
I need to get me a specimen like her 😍. Can you hook a girl up?
It...won't be cheap. The locality was mined out in the mid 90s and I don't see specimens very often anymore. Especially with them getting stupid popular. I may be able to scrounge up some fluorites from other localities but they just don't pop like the Illinois ones did T.T
Beautiful
