Back in 2013 I became a custom applicator. We started with Lexar as our main pre-emerge and the first full year Acuron came out we switched many operators over. The first season Acuron was released a little late and most only came out in shuttles, Thus that next "first" season we had to make sure tanks got agitated and circulated with air per instruction. Customer opinion was 50/50, however the following year it showed how good it was. The supervisors at my location were also selling a cheaper generic package of chemicals and you could tell exactly which option a guy chose for pre at post time. I still tell all my guys to use Acuron if they can get ahold of it.
Acuron isn't hard to get here, but it will cost you a lot more than a generic program. You can get a lot down with generics, but you need to be more vigilant with your scouting. Callisto dropping in price has made almost every herbicide program seem expensive...
There are a lot of people that run Halex. It has been a great product, and it was priced very well. I do think that Acuron GT is going to be a better product because of the added Bicyclopyrone, but you are going to pay a premium for it!
Quick question. When does it finally become cost effective to have the dealer 'fix' that left end boom connection? If time is money, and you're very good at keeping track of efficiency, how much have you spent dealing with that problem? Yeah, yeah, nagging you just like your dad. Appreciate you sharing your humanity and willingness to share with another farmer thinking about getting into custom spraying. Take Care. Thank-you
If you decide to change the axle yourself, it will take you longer to swap the rims than the axle, Just put tall Jack stands under the rear bar and use translift to lift the axle. When you get the hub bolts off stand the sets on end it's way easier to line them up. Be safe.
I look forward to your videos. BUT to sell merch wash your hat, or get a clean one. I remember my hats on the farm, but no one saw them but me. Have a great day! You know I like to watch everything about farming.
The videos are a secondary gig to farming, along with the merchandise. I do not have the time to wash my equipment and get haircuts everyday like some people seem to expect. When I get some extra time, I will get a new hat...
It sure is a rough one! I recognize your name from the sign on the corner of that road. Long-standing farms are something to be proud of. I enjoy driving by it!
I've had the doors lock themselves with the keyfob sitting inside, which isn't supposed to happen. Fortunately, no children or animals were inside at the time!
I found acuron to be a big problem handling in the sprayer. Especially if the product is not fresh from the factory. Before loading up, be sure it's not a solid settled at the bottom of the tote.
I saw a John Deere planter with bigger problems than yours today. Two miles south from my place I saw a planter & tractor sitting in the field & it didn't look right. They had a fertilizer cart behind the planter & the cart & planter had sunk to the frame in the mud. The one wing of the planter had twisted 90 degrees & the row units were vertical instead of horizontal. The other wing tipped up about 45 degrees with the marker up in the air. I drove by this evening & they had unhooked the cart & pulled the planter out. The wing that was twisted 90 degrees had been removed & was gone from the field. It looked like the other one was folded up. I wonder how much that is going to cost to fix. I can't imagine being the guy driving that rig when this happened.
They normally twist when you pull the planter backwards hopefully the dealer can get him parts, enjoy pinning up your new arms and replacing all the units wiring and hydraulics. Thanks so much for the work and hello from Paton Iowa.
just thinking ... Cole The Cornstar runs 2 Hagie sprayers ... maybe if you have questions you could reach out to him for answers, plus he's right here in IOWA :) home of the BEST soil . and yes that's a little jab LOL thanks for the video :)
I would agree with the Cole part of your statement, not the last part as I to live on the correct side of the river. BUT don't ever ask Cole about building a million dollar bin site..............
@@robm3063 when they say you live on the right side of something it doesn't mean the correct side, right can also mean a direction 👈👉. But really I hope they can get that bin site fixed right, thats a LOT of money to piss away
You Americans have it easy with trowing glyphosate at every crop, cuz it's gmo. While in the Eu, we barely have useful stuff, but I don't know how long.
Take back control? 😂😂😂😂 hey, good luck with that one. We keep poking her, and mark my words, she is going to shake us her off her back like the Moran flee’s that we are sir.
Without the use of herbisides there would all sorts of seeds mixed with the corn or soya , and there would be more cleaning work to remove the unwanted seeds to make corn floor or soya oil
Your dad is awesome, enjoy him while he’s with you. You will think of him and miss him when he is gone.
My dad is great. Working with family can be difficult at times, but it is always a privilege.
That Jake Uphoff guy sounds like a pain!
Thanks for the ride!
Trippy you know your sh!t nice to hear someone explain the process of growing corn n beans.
I know enough to hold a conversation, but I'm sure there are others that could leave me in the dust!

We use halex with Aattrex ourselves from Syngenta. One pass with it for us. Then maybe a bit of touchup with roundup on very little acres where needed

I expected to get it adjusted correctly on my own, but it never seemed to line up. It gets fixed in the next video.
You even got Jake home before his curfew! He really enjoyed that. Thanks again Andy

What are you doing to control the burr cucumber this year? Later application?
We will have to keep an eye on that specific field. It is in soybeans, which may or may not help us. I guess we will see come July/August...
At what point and time did you put the floaters on the haggle? The video started with the skinnys on..
The part at the beginning was an advertisement filmed later in May. I put the skinny tires on in a few more videos!
We own land on the south side of that rough road. That road should get an award for the roughest township road in the state.

This was the last part of April? Thank you
Last week of April. Date should always be at the beginning of the video in the corner.

I'm paranoid about leaving keys in a running vehicle too!
Damn those power locks!
Especially when you bring the dog. I always have the spare key fob in my pocket with the mutt in-tow.

I am surprised that it settled out so much in bulk. I guess you need a pretty stout agitator on the chemical!
Howdy trippy
Why do you use a weight on the planter tractor ? Is it nesssery ?
The front weights? It seems to help balance the tractor out from the planter's weight on the back drawbar.
@aTrippyFarmer Yeah. Cool thanks.

This is nothing against Cole, but his Hagie's are much older. I do not know if our models would share a ton of similarities, but I could be wrong.

Glyphosate is convenient for controlling grass in corn. Other than that, it is pretty ineffective.
