Hi Chris. Greetings from Asheville NC. I'm a recent retiree from a middle management job. I don't normally comment on channels, but this time I have to. I have enjoyed your channel for a couple of years. I enjoy your content so much. It has become one of my most favorite channels. I can't wait for each and every post. You capture our imaginations and dreams of our youth. We d love to be doing what you do every day. Thank you for your work ethics, professionalism, skill and unwavering demand for quality. Thank you for coming to western nc and helping to recover. My family wishes your family a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and blessed New Year. God bless you in all you do. Keep up the great work.
A very amazing video I had a migfortune, I was diagnosed with ovrian caner. I also created a channel and am trying to move in that direction, but so far not very successful(
Clearly Robert can do more than drive Barney or a skid stear. We all had some idea what you were capable of, but it was nice to see Roberts skills on display too.
Robert is a great dozer operator too, and is an incredible asset to Chris's business. I've been in/and around construction, as a laborer and as an operator, for nearly my entire life. My dad owned 3 backhoes when I was born, and learned to operate them by the time I was 5-7. I've worked with many laborers, operators, and mechanics over the years. And Robert is top tier in all of those. He's perceptive, and takes initiative. I wish there were more guys like him!
A very amazing video I had aw misfortune, I was diagnosed with ovrian caner. I also created a channel and am trying to move in that direction, but so far not very successful(
That was a most enjoyable video. Also, it was nice to see Robert be more visible and to hear him actually talk on the camera! He rarely even lets the camera show him, so hopefully he's getting over being camera shy! It was fun to hear the banter between the two of you, and enjoy the humor.
Look this guy is good in every video from what I've seen, I mean he got my vote for 2024 as youtube entertainer of my year. Mr. Letsdig18 is awesome. From Mississippi we hope yall all have a Merry Christmas 😊
A very amazing video I had a misfortune, I was diagnosed with ovrian caner. I also created a channel and am trying to move in that direction, but so far not very successful(d
sorry to hear that you are sick, but hope you get over it soon. God bless you and your family, and Merry Christmas. Stay blessed. Merry Christmas to Rober and his family as well.
Chriss you also need to strip clean callipers and reseal replace pistons if pitted, check all the brake pads and you have a rim lock missing on front L/H rim. Check the A-frame bushings strain the bush and check for cracks in the rubber bushings, check the steering cylinders pins for wear also. New type has grease nipples in them. Check the skip rubber pads and reshim the front ones if necessary. Did a lot on these in my day.
For some reason that was entertaining. I will never have to do that repair but I was fully vested and watching it step by step. I don’t even change my oil in my pickup.
Merry Christmas. As a retired gentleman I enjoy watching your videos. Take care of your cold. When I was younger I used to get rid of a cold in 3 or 4 days, but at my age it will last 10 to 12 days. Enjoy the holiday season with some good rest, then you will be high fired up for 2025.
You wouldn't think that watching a truck get serviced could be good material for a video but I was gripped, practically holding my breath throughout. Great job!
You definitely need a bigger air compressor and tank to work on these machines. You're lucky you have Robert, he's a good man that knows his stuff! He's worth his weight in gold.
Just needs a surge tank for the once every two years he needs it. But I would go get a 1" battery gun first. Slightly less powerful, but wayyyy more portable.
You and Robert make a great team. And you had me laughing each step of the way. It's so cool how you have grown your fleet. It's nice to see you still have enthusiasm for your new haul truck. May your Christmas be bright and filled with wishes come true. Blessings to you both.
Merry Christmas from Perth, Western Australia, I know what I'm going to suggest will be low on the priority list, but you need a fully enclosed workshop with reverse cycle air conditioning. Just imagine it's raining, blowing a gale and you have to service Barny or what ever, there you are, in a nice dry, warm shop. Something to dream about anyway.
Watching on Christmas Day here in NZ,blue sky, hot bright sunshine , and a gentle breeze. Merry Christmas to Chris and all his viewers ,hope you feel better soon . Cheers Ps,who needs a jack when you have a Betty 😅
👍 Hmmm, wouldn't have thought you consider that a big repair, I was thinking something internal engine cropped up. Good job, Robert knows his stuff there.
By the looks od that oil it had not been changed for a very long time. But the two of you did a grand job despite all the troubles. Greetings from Australia
These repair video's are always interesting and often funny to watch as you interject your comments. Seeing you use the skid steer to remove the tire reminded me of the little forklift in the movie "Cars", when it changed the tires on the race car lol. Ahhhhh..... I love the smell of thick gear oil in the morning , said no one ever! Another job well done!
find you an air tank that has a 3/8 or 1/2 inch outlet, put a short 1/2 inch hose from the tank to your big air gun. hook your small hose to the tank.. the tank will give you the necessary volume to run the impact in short durations. the bigger the tank the better. thread the 1/2” directly to the tank or use large couplers.
Robert is a jack of all trades. Chris is there a maintenance shop going to be built in the near future. The open air garage is awesome when it’s nice out
Through the years I have found that sticking the axle into the outer case and gears makes stabbing it much easier. When the sun gear is in it locks the planet gears from turning. Alignment is much easier that way. Merry Christmas!!!
You know, if I was Volvo (which I'm sure not) I would just give you some of my newest and best to use on your channel so thousands of interested potential buyers could see how good the equipment works.
Also in New Zealand Watching this on Christmas day (A new Letsdig18 video is a very unexpected and welcome Christmas present !!) Merry Christmas one and all
You just got to enjoy the moments. Our new kitten found the Christmas tree a delight, climbed it, took out most of the boubles and it ended up pissed 45 degrees.. and we laughed and laughed, Nothing major to repair and Gismo had the time of her life - with no electrocution ! Best wishes to you and yours for a happy Christmas Chris and here's to a great new year where the big shots calm down and we can recover a little peace on earth. PS thank you for keeping an old geezer entertained each and every day.. well almost. You and Robert make a great team, btw. Bye the bye the way, BTBTW, any mechanic, engineer, 'wheel fitter and Robert would be more than glad an expert in the art of machinery be jiggling the big bits about.
I'm seriously impressed with you guys. Putting the wheel back was especially nicely done. That little tweak with the skid steer fork was the sort of trick a professional would have been proud of.
Specific Gravity of a battery cell is 2.2 since 12 V battery has 6 that is specific gravity of a 12V battery is 13.2 = fully charged. So a 24V system as labeled charging at 27V is well within spec to charge a battery set to 26.4V
I love the fact that Betty is so headphone friendly and was able to lift the new addition quite easily to get it fixed. Time to rest until you feel better Chris. Enjoy the holidays.
With so much equipment now you need a proper workshop. A pressure washer and larger volume air compressor tank. The trials and tribulations of growing your business. Continued success next year. Merry Christmas.
Very enjoyable video Chris. I hope the new truck works out great for your business. Robert is a big asset to your business and I'm sure you know that. Chris you need a Milwaukee 1" impact wrench would make these big jobs go a little quicker.
Some days the old struggle bus makes ya wish you'd stayed in bed. It's amazing that Chris is able to keep his frustration in check and no tools or cuss words weren't tossed around. Especially when he drained the rear axles and that plug went flying. I'd have been cussing like a Chief Petty Officer who found out someone washed my coffee mug. Chris is lucky he's got someone like Robert around to help him when reliable help is needed.
A cheat you can use with that compressor on your fuel trailer and the big impact is to use a second large tank close to the impact as an accumulator, then you can get away with a shorter ½" hose to the impact. You can also parallel 2 ⅜ hoses for about the same flow, but ½" is handier.
Thanks, Chris. A big heavy job completed. And good to get a watch of Robert, your co-star on many projects. Usually he's just a shadow in a machine's cab. Would be nice to see, in the flesh, your other co- and guest-stars too. Just a thought, but the channel would be more than just about big machines doing stuff over and over. Am I being a bit girly thinking that seeing the people side of these machines would be nice? Just an introduction would be fine, or watching a vid like this where Robert was such a big part. Big ups to Robert!
DP, MBTS, and C&C will all be proud of you Chris. At least you didn't get any in you face (as far as we know). :) Hope this truck works out for many years. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone.
Been there and done that with stuck drains and plugs. Gear oil, trans fluid, hyd fluid, diesel fuel... I have spilled it all. Look at the bright side, it wasn't in your shop, and it all makes great weed killer. Nothing green will grow there again. Just don't let the EPA catch on. Merry Christmas
I love your channel and watch every episode, but you absolutely amaze me. You have millions invested in some really top equipment and don't even have a second-rate shop to work on things. You need a shop with a bay or bay and a half and some real tools. You could probably even rent the space to the dealer when he has to work on your equipment.
I like Betty and love to see her earn her keep but I think a 50T bottle jack from Harbor Freight will set you back less than firin her up - and with no fear of bending the hood.
Wow it was nice to hear and see Robert. Never thought I would be this interested in big machine repair. Like I have commented before next life I want to move dirt. Your work is very inspirational. You are a very talented man and Robert too. Thank for sharing with us. Hope you feel better soon hot toddy may not cure your cold but sure makes you feel better. Merry Christmas to you and your families. 💖💖💖
Never doubted Betty picking up the front of the truck. With all the equipment that you have acquired you need to get an industrial air compressor and pour a concrete pad/ pole barn to work on your equipment and not be lying on gravel.
If You Wanna Play Then You Gotta Pay! $1080 for a set of 4 brake pads for the front of that ADT is nothing surprising, I saw the size of em, they're MaHoooSive!! They have to stop a lot of weight from moving, its best to change em in pairs so they ain't out of whack. Great job on the hub too! Well Worth it as the ADT is on good nick!
Chris and Robert you guys working so hard getting everything done. Dang Chris with the price of parts that is unbelievable. Can't believe how quick you replaced the tire, up, in and on. Perfection. Ok Chris go to the Doc in the Box and get some good meds. Need to be well before Christmas. Take care. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2025. Enjoyed the video. Thanks.

He could weld up a jib for the bucket forks. Lots of uses for one....like heavy hubs. He seems good at "thinking into" jobs.
