Just found your channel...enjoy it very much!! Thank you. Left a reply to Blue v2st a second ago that I did the same thing he has. Been 30-35 years since playing with any of these but purchased both Arrma Typhon (Red) because it came with everything but saw your video and decided to purchase the Tuned Typhon as well. EVERYTHING has changed and the Tech has come so far from back then. Thanks again, Semper Fi!!
I've been doing research on the Typhon as I'm thinking of buying one in a couple of weeks. Your movies are invaluable when choosing a new Truck, thanks for the diligence in information 👍
Love all your videos always great content and absolutely great for someone who is still fairly new to this hobby. Your videos have become one of my go too for information on all my cars thanks again love them all
Very fun video to watch!! I love Buggies!! Ever since the game called Re-Volt! Yall heard of it I'm sure!! A Fun stuff RC like Mario Karts. But anyways, I got 2 Typhon Groms. I'm hoping to get the 3 6s Typhons. 2 TLR and 1 V5 6S with Spektrum Battery
I find the TLR Typhon to be more versatile overall. Although the Felony is stunning to play with, it eats tires like crazy when you drift it, and it is a dedicated on road rig. The TLR, on the other hand, can do both, pavement or off-road with little more than a tire change. However, with the felony you get a complete rig, Radio, speed control, servo, motor, and so on, but the TLR can be set up as you like, adding choice to your rig. 3s, 4s, 6s, it's your choice. The handling is spot on, and the TLR Typhon is durable as hell. On the track or the trail, the Typhon is well suited for both. Good luck choosing, they are both awesome to see run. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios Definitely going with... Both! lol I'll use the 4s TLR Typhon and have a Felony for my first Arrma shelf queen. All kinds of light and body options make it perfect, even though it's stunning out of the box! I also want to get an Xmaxx with Spectrum electronics for my fiance. We wanna try to plow snow from the living room lol.
Great video, however this is effectively a rebranded Team Durango DEX8 which Horizon dissolved when purchasing Arrma. Still good to see this live on thoguh one of my favourite chassis
Ok dude ... I'm getting the itching sensation to put a fix on my addiction. Yes I'm wanting to buy a Typhon. This one. My question I have been meaning to ask... You mention you were in the NW. Like Idaho, Oregon, Washington. Not sure if you can say or not. But I'm in the Oregon Willamette valley area. The place you bash looks really familiar . Like the millican area. Are you filming in this area. I would love to bash with you some day. If you do that kinda thing. I figure it can't hurt to ask. Have Fun.
I can tell you this…we’re not in Oregon, we’re in Washington. Maybe you’ll see us bashing one day. Feel free to come say hi if you do. I do enjoy meeting new people 😎👍
Waiting for the brutal review of the TLR Typhon, to see if you have problems with the lower front hingpins. Are the hinge pins soft steel?, and the blocks brittle plastic? Bought mine used, so it could be that my hinge pins were all damaged from before my time, and that my light jumps but slightly ugly landings were the last straw on an already damaged construction, I hope so. Your channel got me back to RC, thanks
I love that colour body sadly my RTR came with a blue and red shell. I live in the uk but if you want to sell that purple body and ship it to me at a reasonable price I’ll have it off you.
Oh boy, i am eyeballing a typhon 3s as a second rc beside my big rock. Now i'm wondering if a tlr is the better choice. I allmost fully upgraded my BR now and don't want to do that on my next rc. Perhaps i'll find a nice used one somewhere 🤔. Really nice video's you make AJ, greetings from Europe 🤗
Great unboxing, very informative. I have a new sensored Hobbywing Max8/2250kv combo. Do you think it would work for bashing? We generally just jump it off a 30 inch high ramp. . Thinking about a 18-20T pinion. Thanks.
Good question. You are correct, the gyro is not allowed in the racing end of this sport. Keep in mind, we bash here so we are not restricted to the rules of the racing community. Thanks for asking. AJ
What is your opinion on the python ( corally ) ? I am European and i love arrma, but somehow I feel it would be good to support an European constructor for my next purchase.
Being from the US we have tried to get the XTR 2022 but still can’t get one. From here getting parts, much less the cars we want is spotty. However, you may not have this issue. I find branching out to different manufacturers to be exciting and, most of the time, very rewarding. Since we do not have a Corally Python I can’t advise you on this one. Please let us know what you choose and how it works out for you. Thanks for asking 😎👍
Question...hey AJ. Ive upgraded some parts on my Typhon (using TLR parts) and Ive included an RPM bumper (based on a recommendation from one of your other videos). Could you recommend a scew size/length that will go through the chassis to secure the bumper? The 2 front screws seemed too short but I still stupidly ran it without them being secured. Please help if possible.
What batteries did you use 4 or 6s? And how fast do you think each can go stock? What’s your battery run time aprox? Oh as I watched past 30mins you answered the question lol
I think the TLR version is awesome, but, if you're trying to keep things simple, the 6s version is cool too and it's an RTR. But having said that, the TLR is just tougher out of the box. But you will have to outfit it with the electrics before you can use it. If you have the patience for it, I would recommend the TLR Typhon, it really does handle great, takes impacts all day long, and hasn't failed me yet. Of course, I am a sucker for the Typhon class of cars anyway, so there's that. Bottom line, If you find a rig that makes your pulse quicken, that's the one for you, and it doesn't matter who makes it. Thanks for asking. AJ
The Spektrum ESC mounts in easily as it is the stock ESC for the Typhon cars now. The mounting plate allows for screws to attach the ESC with no issues. Thanks for asking.
How come you dont race anymore? Do you go to tracks anymore? im just beginning may just go with the cheaper of the two until i get more experience building and repairing. I think im still leaning into bashing only
Track politics mostly. I got tired of the BS that went along with playing with these machines at the track. Some people take it way too seriously and that can suck the fun out of it. I love the hobby and bashing has become my go to. Most of the people I’ve come across in this hobby are really cool and down to earth but our tracks around here seem to attract the other type as well and you can’t get away from them. They take every bump or contact personally and it turns into a confrontation. I’ll pass. Thanks for asking 😎👍
This car is beautiful. It is by far the best built and best looking car I’ve ever had. Compared to all the Tamiya cars I’ve had these are miles apart. It cost a whole bunch more but was worth every penny in my opinion.
I have finally ordered SKF automotive grade bearings for the rear hubs, rear diff and the engine. So tired of these china bearings that are constantly disintegrating. But I won't find out if it's worth the money until the summer. But real bearing steel is VERY hard and SKF pressison and tolerances are world class, so I hope that they also stay sealed much longer than the soft rattling china stuff. Update will come in summer 2025 PS understand that ARRMA does not supply cars with SKF/ FAG/Timken bearings, full set costs as much as the car.
It's still a only a Typhon lol with a few shinny parts on it, would you swap your Losi 8 for the TLR Typhon ?, This is nothing new if you know Arrma's history with Team Durango, Please look at the Team Durango DNX8, Arrm a RC are still registered Arrma Durango LTD , the TLR Typhon is designed to get bashers into racing? a lot of hype over this which wont last long.
That may be true, and probably is, but the upgrades are still awesome. The tougher chassis and shock towers is just the beginning. While the TLR is still nothing more than a Typhon, which I admit freely, I do love the differences in the two rigs. And you are probably right, the TLR may go unnoticed in the long run, but I'm still stoked over it. Even though I have a bulletproofed version, I think the TLR is already moving to the front of the pack for me. I don't really care about racing much any more, the politics kind of burned me out on that front, but I love that it can do it. All good things. Thanks for the comment and the advise. AJ
Its all the same company, horizon hobby, but theres nothing wrong with that. They are a great company and if wasnt for them these brands would have disappeared long ago. Earl moorehead is always mad at losi for some reason or another it seems, is he not?? I agree with this video, arrma and losi parts on the same rig is cool
@@wesdex04 The diffs still did not have fluid in them, whether Earl has a grip with Losi or not. Nearly all regular Arrma's have little fluid in their diffs, i am not an Arrma hater by the way as i own 8 Arrma cars & would still buy more in future.
@@gillian9178 ok i get your point the diffs didn't have fluid in them. It doesnt bother me which is probably why i'm not overly interested in that nugget of info. I think the tlr tuned means tuning of the geometry of the buggy, there seems to be more customizing options throughout the buggy. Would you habe preferred they tuned the diffs for you from the factory?
Losi had to have the specs and a rig to test before building the parts for the Typhon, after all, the Losi parts they already have would not even fit the Typhon; they had to do it correctly, ands that means they had a test car in the first place. Losi always does their research, that's why they are so fast on the track - that's my experience anyway. Plus, I love the idea of brands working together to build something better. Bash on! AJ

I have been torn between getting a Felony or a Typhon as my first Arrma, and I think this TLR roller is winning. I'd love to have a 4s spec racer.
