What if Penelope heard Anticlea singing the "Waiting" motif and that's where she got it? Honoring her mother-in-law's memory and longing for her husband...
@NightinLark nooooooooooo 😭 gosh tho I do love that headcanon. In this animatic, I included Anticlea in the “lengths we’d go for love” part, basically seeing Ruthlessness from a distance, as a reference to the original Odyssey as they were in sight of home. And Anticlea thought he died. I also gave her the same earrings as Penelope, even though I’m not 100% consistent with it, I have a thing where Penelope inherited the earrings from her :)
@ I’ve been thinking for ages about how Penelope also had to deal with her loss, and watched her get more and more sad 😔 I do love to imagine they were close. 🩷
was that her son next to her as she gave the challenge? he looked so sad like 'dammit its come to this' also odysseus: *in the rafters* dont worry honey i just need to take out this trash first
I love the detail you added here because in the tale, penelope said she would choose someone to marry when she finished her piece, but she undid it every night with her maids 0:33
@@tarasantisteban7881 Hera is the goddess of marriage. Penelope, in choosing a suitor, albeit in the way Odysseus and her agreed, is breaking the contract of their marriage. She turns Hera’s portrait around as if to say, “don’t look, goddess of marriage, I’m ashamed”.
I just like to say I love the designs for the challenge animatic, but the expressions hit so hard too and it’s awesome work 😭💕 for first animatic you done an amazing work :)
@@ivonnekiemes1535 @avintageview Yes because Hera is the goddess of marriage, and Penelope is “betraying” her marriage by marrying someone else. Tbh, the challenge itself was agreed upon with Ody, and I don’t hold it against her, it’s just representative of her guilt. :)

@AnArtyWeirdo Awwww I love when people actually acknowledge that Penelope and Anticlea actually would've been super close
