the crack of the whip analogy with the board being the last thing to move was so on point. Eyes, head, shoulders, torso hips in that order made perfect sense. High level coaching right there.

So on point, this analogy alone has completely changed my perspective on snaps. Adam's got some great coaching gems.

As a pro fighter, his top to bottom analogy broke my mind! I've been doing bottom to top and trying to generate power from the feet. Can't wait to change the chain of movement

Great interview! Adam's insights on turns using chicane term from racing is really interesting.

Very good technical coaching. Just seems more relevant to pros than your average everyday surfers. We need more fundamental macro technique coaching vs microscopic analysis of every movement. But Adam’s tip about not throwing back hand too far back too soon while bottom turning is a great tip for everyone. I’m very guilty of that one 😅

Thanks for your feedback! Adam definitely has some great in depth technical advice but I still think there are some great nuggets in here that the everyday surfer can apply. For example, when he goes into energy leaks and starting your turn head down, finishing with the snap of the board instead of trying to surf like a boxer, bottom up. I do appreciate the feedback though and will take it on board for future episodes 🤙

Interesting interview. But you should tell your guests that this is also a podcast where listeners cannot see his hands and body gestures. 80% of his technic advise was “you put you hands like this” “you hit this part of the wave” which makes no sense without video.

there is the video component on youtube but you gotta be watching not listening but that is a good point and would make things a lot easier to understand appreciate the feedback

I think you probably misinterpreted that one: it is just a way to state "doing more by doing less". Sometimes in order to achieve something we try so hard to the point that it becomes too much. By lowering the effort you allow yourself to be free to focus on different aspects and, as counterintuitive as it is, perform actually better.
      Best!

Spot on, doing more by doing less. Some surfers are trying to overpower the wave rather that riding with it.
