this has been my favorite board so far in a long time. not because it's the best board money can buy or anything, but because it brings me that joy of REALLY customizing your keyboard to get it just right.
same my dude, this board is dope. i've had an absolute blast modding this thing to get it just right for my tastes. this keyboard scratched my itch and then some as far as getting the 'full custom' experience goes, all without having to break the bank. the only fair criticism this board deserves is that it is most certainly sub-par if you plan on keeping it 100% stock. like honestly idk wtf they were thinking with the amount of lube that comes on them damn stabs fresh out the box lol.
@@snapdag its horrible, monsgeek m1 is WAY cheaper, 99$, way better stock stabs and better sound etc literally gmmk is horrible especially for its price tag
Just did mine witg tape mod, pe foam mod, durock v2 stabs lubed with 205g0 lube, removed the stock stab dampeners, switches are lube gateron yellows also with 205g. I had to sand down the aluminium plate for the stabs to fit cus i think i got an early version of it, either way the build turned out great. Really surprised at how good it sounded, ive heard a lot of sound tests on this board and im proud to say that i think mine also sounds absolutely awesome.
FANTASTIC, The build is AMAZING looking and sounding.. im not going to lie, i am most impressed with the flex you managed to get out of the keyboard lol and i wil definitely be busy this weekend!! Thank you for putting out this great video.
Awesome video, I'm looking into building my first custom keyboard and the whole space has been a little daunting. I really love the 75% layout and the dial on the gmmk pro but was a little concerned with some people in the community really griping on the short comings of this keyboard. Honestly your build has shown me how great I could get those stabilizers sounding with a little time put in. Definitely buying the keyboard kit after seeing this. Thank you and keep up the great work :)
I've cut the 4 inner screw mounting point on my PC plate today and I finally have some decent flex. I haven't use the standoff screw and only used the light diffuser screw. Good flex toward the center, a bit stiffer on the outside, might have to try cutting all of the screw mounting point. Awesome guide, awesome tips.
I've saved this video for later. I've watched soooo many GMMK videos, this is by far the best modding video, includes everything. I'm waiting on information about the Keychron Q1, if that doesn't turn out to be what it suggests, I'll get the GMMK and follow your guide. Thanks a lot anyway! Glorious should put a link to this video in their manual.
That looks so clean, the glorious pandas, the keycap profile and color, it all matches so well. I don’t like the pink stabs, it’s aight. The rgb isn’t worth it, since rgb isn’t that clean either way, and the switches aren’t clear, so it’ll look very dark, and if I had the choice between dark but visible rgb or no rgb, I’d go with none. The side strip being set to that color looked so good tho, it’s the chef’s kiss. I love the aesthetic.
I used the exact same stabs as you (same colour too) personally didn't feel the need to mod them, just tune them and the stab dampeners are really not that bad just gotta clean them completely, tasty looking build man!
final build for the stabs sounded way too mushy imo, but hey that could be your preference! also please balance your wires instead of just holee modding. Its a quick fix but better to just balance the wire and use something thicker lube like 205g2 or 206g0 or XHT BDZ or even permatex 22058(Dielectric grease) its gonna be better in the long run since 205g0 is just way too thin to even help with rattle. you can try out 205g0 again IF you actually balance the wires and stuff
Fantastic video! I just dissasembled, modded, cleaned etc and reassembled mine yesterday and wish I saw you video first :) Everyone is right, those stock GOAT stabs are really overlubed and super sticky, PC plate is super tight with Durock V2s and I missed those stock stabilizers bandaids and had to remove the stabs again to remove them and clean with alchohol. I have just ordered an FR4 plate so wont need to use the screws and hoping fit will be alot better. Do you know if those self tapping screws will damage the diffusers if removed when I install an FR4 plate? Do the D65 foam gaskets make a big difference? I do not mind the stiff feeling but I was thinking about removing the two centre stand-offs. I removed the plate foam and kept the case foam but people seem to do the opposite. I removed the plate foam for accoustics and I am guessing you removed the bottom case foam for flex? Correct? I love your build and end result. I went for the classic all-black look with Boba U4T's and GMK WoB. P.S. I tried holy modding in the past with Durock V2s using the small thin parts of KBDfans stab stickers and they just caused my stabs to stick. Also spent ages last night doing the Epsi mod and had the same result on a two of my stabs. In the end I just removed them and traditionally lubbed them with Krytox 205g0 and balanced the wires. I am not sure sure what I am doing wrong. Maybe they are sticking out a tiny bit too much on the edges and rubbing against the outer plastic parts.
Nice mod, sir! I have to be honest, like two from the commenters below, I would also like to ask what you numeric pad is. I would like to have one for my build as well.

Excellent video! Keyboard still doesn't sound great after all those mods, though. I modded mine a bunch of ways, too, and can't get it to sound decent. Not even close to my Tiger 80 lite, Keychron Q5, Akko 5075B Plus, etc. I think the GMMK Pro is just doomed from the start.... what do you think?
Nice mods! Quick question, did your pc plate fit right out of the box? I'm using durock stabs and mine was way too small and caused the pcb to flex so I sanded down the stab holes and it kinda fits but not perfect. My esc key is also not centered. I contacted support and they basically just offered me 40% discount on a new one. Even though I've heard several people have this issue.
Hi Uy. I just had the same issues. The PC plate was terrible to fit especially around the volume button area. Had to force it onto the Durock V2 stabs and kind of had to stretch the board. I just ordered an FR4 plate which should arrive in September. I did not like the idea that I had to use those self tapping screws and have concerns if it has damaged the diffusers (when I replace the plate). I will check out my Esc when I get home. All in all, after the modifications I did, this is currently one of my best sounding and feeling keyboard.
They did to me to outside the spacebar, and though the C3 stabs seemed fixed it, I am not sure it was stabs causing that. It may just be something about the case. All GMMK Pros have a super high pitch ping on the spacebar to me. Even sometimes with better stabs. I think the stab mods muted the ping so it is harder to hear.
Got a GMMK Pro today and found that the stabilizers are sticky. It is unusable in this state. Un-fucking-believable for such an expensive kb... So, looking around to see how to get into it and resolve this 1st world problem I shouldn't be having.
I don't get why people remove the case foam in this keyboard. Makes it sound awful and hollow. And for what? Flex that you can barely feel unless you're really pushing down on the keyboard?
