This song is my spiritual calling for a decision beautifully timed . This song is So Beautiful.

Hi! Thank you :) I took some liberties and in the end it's only vague but you're indeed correct! I wrote both the chorus and main piano lines for Farewell Song and Wither on the same morning in January 2015, actually.

*gasp* (oh! and um... Rachel if you see this, what would you say is one of your most inspirational songs a low alto could sing comfortably? My chorus teacher wants me to sing a solo of my choice and I would love to use one your songs!.... if I can. 😊)
That's a tricky question as I'm a soprano and write songs for my range haha. I asked my sister (a classically trained mezzo) and we both think that Farewell Song and Say I Matter are probably the best alto songs I have for something like a solo, though they both have a couple of high lines that might not be in your comfortable range depending on how low you mean. I Walked Alone is definitely in alto range but I'm not sure it's recital material, same with Standing There. Or maybe River Run Red?

***** I just fangirled so much because you responded. 😆 Anyway, I think since the main theme for the recital is love, heartbreak, and overcoming these... I think the Farewell song, Say I matter, or I walked alone will be the best choices... Right?
Depends on which aspect you want to focus on. Farewell Song is better for love and heartbreak, Say I Matter is better for heartbreak and especially overcoming. I think I Walked Alone is less good for showing off your voice than the other two, so it's probably not the best choice. But it all comes down to what you think is best :)
