The last of my picks from Barbour. Barbour jackets are the most versatile waxed jackets if you want to change your style a bit and keep the informal look.

Two comments I might add:
1. The hand warming pockets are designed so that you can carry a shotgun with the breach open over the crook of your arm while yours hands stay warm in the pockets.
2. The cuff has “Breakaway” fasteners. Their purpose is of course to keep weather out and warmth in, but then pull open at the Velcro should you raise your arm suddenly to aim your shotgun at fowl.

Love your reviews of the Barbours!! Very informative. The 40th anniversary is more expensive and what kills it for me is the all lined polyester sleeves. Not worth the price because of this. IMHO…Go for the cheaper non anniversary Beaufort instead.

Interesting seeing the newer jacket's I have a year 2000 bedale and two mid 90s jackets a Beaufort and a border I like them worn in with a few battle scars and I know their all made at the simonside factory. I don't like Barbour turning into a lifestyles brand and all the marketing nonsense that comes with lifestyle branding ( it is just marketing nothing changes for the better) most people don't bother rewaxing them but they really start to develop a good patina the more you wax them, they will last much longer if you wax them every year or two.
I agree that these jackets need care and will provide a long service. I was thinking about Barbour becoming a fashion brand that probably is not going to be any good for customers who look for quality rather than fashion
Great video! Could you measure the sleeve from the center of back please? Curious about sleeve length and that’s the way most companies measure sleeve length since collar width can vary a lot

If I remember correctly the Sylkoil is 6oz? I have a 8oz Beeswax barbour jacket from a while back. I can't remember the model. I did have a sylkoil one as well, but sold it on. The thing I don't like about Barbour is the nylon sleeve linings, the damp arm feeling is not great.
Hi!! Barbour uses 8oz, 6oz and 4oz. The Ashby, Bedale and Beaufort, in general, use 6oz of Sylkoil or Thornproof. I agree that the nylon sleeve lining is a problem; keeps all the dampness from sweating 👍👍👍👍👍

Curious about “sweaty arms” from the polyester arm liner. What is your experience with this?
I have Beaufort and Bedale but the arm liner has kept me from picking up an Ashby
Depending on the temperature and activities. Initially, I was annoyed, but wearing long sleeves, I have no complaints. I prefer cotton lining
You will have the same problem as I have with Ashby

@@rickybobby6760 No, I have olive and it’s Thornproof. This is from Barbour’s website and I can also send you a photo of my jacket that says thornproof if you need further proof. The originals were in Thornproof and this is a homage to them.

This works perfectly well in the rain.
The cord is only exposed with the collar down and presumably when in the dry.
