    Nice! I have a 99' HardRock with a
    Clydesdale fork that I did a disc conversion on and some other terrible welding. Love it!

      Sick!!! Building this bike made me want a Clydesdale fork. Thank you!

    This is an awesome funky build! I love listening to bike work in your videos - it's so relaxing. However, when I work on my bikes, I like to rock out to music on speakers haha thank you for making that sacrifice for us!

    What stand are you using? I’m looking for a budget minded bike stand.

    What 26in rim brake wheel set do you recommend to put a 11 speed cassette on?

    • @CowboyTomi
      @CowboyTomi  2 роки тому

      Mavic makes great 26" wheels, It might be difficult to find a 11 speed hub on a 26" rim brake right now!

    Nice job- colors look like an old Bontrager in style. You mentioned a "spacer" for the bottom bracket - but for square taper, wouldn't you have needed a slightly longer spindle to make it work without grinding? Just curious. I do stuff like this all the time. Great job, great use of old frame.

    Nice, love how that turned out - really unique funky bike. But, how come you didn’t lacquer the paint job? That would’ve protected it and kept it looking fresh.. good work. 👍

    I found a Specialized Stumpjumper on Craiglist with no fork. It's in great shape so trying to negotiate a price with the current owner. If I buy it, I'll have to buy a fork and follow your lead here.
    Pretty cool how even old tech, like that new square tapered BB you installed, spins more freely than most new BB's installed on $10,000 bikes. Free watts, right? Especially on a corgo bike!

    Love the vids! Quick tip: when you're undoing potentially stuck/overtorqued bolts like chainring bolts, you want to be using the straight hex end of the wrench, not the ball end. Reduces your chances of stripping the head.

    • @CowboyTomi

    These bikes are becoming more rare and hard-to-find like everything else one day they will like me trying to find a Model T or Model A Car I think we all get the picture by what I was saying these bikes are becoming more scarce they are part of Viking history and need to be preserved and their own originality not slaughtered or disgrace

    Look I'm for all like Restorations but customizing your bike is good but when it comes to the point of making it or it's not original or far away from its original design it is just disturbing he mentions in this video the great sounds of bike registration it sounds like to me that he is going to ruin a great vintage mountain bike of res for years that we used to always enjoy that was while we are able to still see around I am for restoration but when you start changing things or they're not original it becomes fake especially an old school mountain bike like this specialized Hardrock I own a specialized Hardrock I plan on restoring it fully to its original condition as possible and not very away from the originality of when it came off its Factory line

  • @christenbrown7882
    @christenbrown7882 2 роки тому

    I don't know about you guys that are watching this video but this is like a nightmare slaughtering a perfectly good vintage mountain bike instead of restoring a close to its originality this guy I sure is a good mechanic but he needs to be stopped or someone needs to sit down and have a serious talk with him about the originality of old-school vintage mountain bikes is actually running the value of an old classic it's very hard to watch it's like a slow-moving train wreck he's not even going to use original drivetrain I'm not sure but I bet he's going to stretch the frame out and that's just slaughtering the bike the idea of having a bike of this nature I believe is having more originality

    • @CowboyTomi
      @CowboyTomi  2 роки тому +6

      Hey, I appreciate the comment, I get what you’re saying with the whole originality thing, but in the end - it is just a bike and it is only meant to bring joy by simply riding it! Because of its transformation, the bike now has a very happy owner who I’ve ridden with multiple times and had some of the best moments with - that is truly what matters to me when I am building these bikes - letting the good times roll!

    • @Gallywomack
      @Gallywomack Рік тому

      Also, it's a Hardrock not some rare vintage machine. They were entry level bikes BITD and they sold in the hundreds of thousands.
