In this episode, we are Screen Printing a Waterbase Underbase and Plastisol Wet on Wet with a 3 color screen print. This makes the screen print super soft and very smooth. Using the Design we separated in a previous episode to print this project where we create a chocked underbase and registered the other 2 colors (Black and Red) perfectly.
If you want to try this print - here is the file to download the separations keeponcreating.shop/product/n...

Good stuff as usual. I personally would never underbase black though
Thank you, and yes I would agree with the underbase on black it does make the print a bit more "solid"
everything was good till you said I had to clean the screens huh? hek NO! lol awesome video as always!!!
Yah, where were you! Haha
🔥
Thanks A C !
My T Shirt Printers your video editing is on point just like your prints 👌🏾
Well that’s very much appreciated, made my day! 🤘
We are doing after the perimeter protection with the split tape... We put more clear tape on the stencil around the design, I asked several times why... and they respond "it's to protect the mesh and reclaim 5 time at least" Do you think that isn't necessary?
No. Unless you are planning to save the screen for future use.
Great design , how do you keep the shirts down on the platen ? When I use discharge , the adhesive I have doesn’t keep the shirts down, thanks
Spray adhesive works. Some are made especially for discharge, which take longer in the flash.
Thus , waterbased underbase ,help prevent dye migration ?
Looks like I'm late to the party. Just ran across this vid... Very well done. Subscribing now! Oh, btw....Love the light box!
Why didn't use black out for the black to give it a softer feel? You are printing on a black shirt after all.
love your videos man. What would cause film positives to not line up? Printer issue?
Sometimes ink jet printers shrink the positives or if they printed in different directions they can misalign. I know with mine if I print the films going at 90 degrees they miss align. That’s learnt from trying to save media... haha
@@KeeponCreatingTV O man I never thought of that. Ive had registration problems where the screens registration marks wouldn't align. Maybe that was the problem. I save my film scraps and use them. Thanks for the information. Im not gonna use scraps for multicolor jobs any more.
Daniel Mullins drove me nuts for ages haha, then I figured print then all the same direction (for me horizontal, vertical stretches them in a bad way way) hey presto!! Years later 😢
Whatesh count were you using
So is it possible print plastisol overprint on waterbased underbase ? How about washing test? Is it good? Because I think water and solvent cannot be mixed together
Almost a year since this video and print is still good after many many washes 😀. The trick is to get the water out of the under base water base and Then print on top 👍
@@KeeponCreatingTV That is what the Matsui rep made clear for plastisol to stick on top of waterbase. It's hard for us who print plastisol to change our ways but even the discharge he said needs to be 80 percent discharged on the flash (visibly) before printing anything on top because the moisture will prevent anything from sticking to it on top.
Just this advice will save nightmare's with customer orders.
Thanks for the vid!
How long before the top colors (plasti) to begin cracking? Mine seemed to crack to soon, like 4 months.
Try to get more of the under base water out in the flash stage. Moisture may be trapped between the water base and plastisol
A good one. Worth to try. Thanks!
What do you use to clean the ink off the screen at 3:31?
What's up Tim! thanks for the question - I use Bean-e-doo Ink Remover. I just recycle plastic bottles (washing up liquid bottles) makes it easy to pour from the main Bean-e-doo tub, box, um thing… haha Thanks for watching!
My T Shirt Printers cool! I just got my gallon of Bean-E-Doo in yesterday! It works great. You’ve got a great set up. Definitely inspiration for when I get an automatic. I really like those dry boxes for the screens too. Plus, I really believe in Newman Rollers
@@Tim.McElheny Thanks Tim! Yup it's great stuff and way more friendly ;-). I think doing every manual is a must to learn before auto. You learn so much and easily can tweak things way more than on auto I can tell you… Newmans are awesome, just nothing with a sharp edge near them or POP!
where did you get the wall mounted Light registration box from?
I made it :-).
@@KeeponCreatingTV Dope 👍
@@torrey2708 Was hoping to do a video, but man this year has been crazy!
@@KeeponCreatingTV Crazy is an Understatement.... I'm a Printer myself and I thought the Box was DOPE
@Torrey Harkness Thanks Torrey, really Appreciate it ⚡👍
I can't wrap my head around waterbased underbase with plastisol, is it specifically for underbasing or just a grey waterbased ink? Shirt looks great, and the video was great too
hi John! It's just a normal waterbased ink. Instead of using white I just used a warm grey I already mixed up. I have to to waterbase was not my thing at all, now i'm getting into it more and more. The only part that's not so great is the clean up straight away after printing…
@@KeeponCreatingTV Thanks Mike- I think it's the idea of the plastisol adhering to the WB underbase. The only thing about the clean up straight away is that they don't sit around covered in ink...
@@jrainsford I've tried a Discharge underbase a few times and have cracked that one yet. I almost need 2 flash units as it won't bond to the plastisol unless fully activated. Yup your right on the clean up! Always good to start the day nice and clean.
@@jrainsford Using a water based under is just to remember to flood the screen after each run. It dries out super quick.
