    Great vid! Interestingly enough, I was fully planning to buy a Ford Tremor, but the luxuries within the TB (along with the diesel option) changed my mind and I ordered a Trail Boss. Since I’m like most people, and won’t really off road much at all, I only went with the TB model due to the aggressive look. IMO, the TB diesel is a homerun

    This is a great review. As a fellow owner of a Duramax powered TB the bit about the hood insert is spot on with the glare. Also to add the the insert, its a pain to see over and it also chews through the paint on the corners. As far as the engine/transmission goes, its incredible. 30 mpgs are definitely possible even in the TB trim, and the transmission keeps the RPMs low where all the torque is made.

    I thought it was a really good review. Looking for my first decent off raod truck, you hit a lot of points I was interested in hearing and agreed with. I really like this truck.

    Nice video, I'm researching the 2024 LT Trail Boss w/ 6.2L and not sure what tire size to go with .They have 18" rims w/LT275/65R Wrangler Muds or for a 1000 more you can get 20" w/LT265/60R Wrangler Muds on it .The difference is only + .4" (32.1" vs. 32.5") and does the 18" tire run smoother than the 20" tire due to it has .7" more sidewall. What is your thoughts of 18" vs. 20" rims/tires in performance/durability?

    • @PointShiftDrive
      @PointShiftDrive  Рік тому

      It really depends on what you’re gonna use the truck for the most. If you care about comfort, I would look for more sidewall. If you care about offloading more, I would look for the cheaper tire and then replace it in the aftermarket with something that you really like. Probably something with a mud rating. Other than that, just get the rims and wheels that you think look the best.

    A note on the "set-em and forget-em" switches -- maybe it's just me but the lane assist I find is best disabled on some back roads with intermittent lines and some freeway construction areas where they're not done removing old lines and it confuses the system. So I for one am greatly appreciative that there's a quick toggle for lane assist when I'm going through certain sections.
    Thanks for the review!
    Sounds like you may be after the Silverado 1500 Custom Trailboss (more basic truck)

    Nice. But how’s it handle on the trail? I’d love to see a video of you going down some mining trail (maybe with a buddy with a winch just in case, if the turning radius is really that bad).

      I would have loved to have done something like that for sure! But this was a press vehicle, and I only had it for a short amount of time, so I did the best I could. But I can’t say that it would do fine on trails. As long as it weren’t too many obstacles that were difficult. I think were the Silverado let you down is it’s size because most trails that I go down getting narrow and a truck like this would come out looking like pinstripe mania.

    So the 4auto is not for locking to rear. 4 auto is for front diff. The rear looses traction the front engages once traction is back it disengages.

    Let’s be honest, most will just daily drive this than off road it if at all lol. I think it’s a good truck for the modest person, hard core off road people will be better off with a wrangler or bronco for sure

      I don’t disagree. But it is nice to have a truck with some capability when situations arise.

    Great review! But I completely disagree with your luxury verse work truck argument. I feel it’s about time that they made a nice lux truck that’s off-road worthy. Thanks!

      Sounds like you love your truck. That’s great! But to me it felt like a truck struggling to find its identity. Not its fault. It’s really more of a fight that the marketing team had and compromised.

    There's actually 12 cup holders 2 more fold down in the center of the back seat

    The "Rugged Version" is the Custom Trail Boss. Cloth bench seats front and back. Minimal tech.

      Those have to be rare

    • @marcochavanne
      @marcochavanne 2 місяці тому

      @ they are, but they can be custom ordered if someone is interested.
      We are a family of 6 so I don’t have many choices across all the entire American pickup market. Many higher trim models don’t allow you to select a 40/20/40 front seat. The Custom Trail Boss with a Duramax seems to be the best value out of all of them for a rugged daily driver that can haul a travel trailer a few times a year.

    Can’t believe you are telling your watchers if you want more capable truck get Bronco, Gladiator or Tacoma when they aren’t in the same size or segment and forgetting to mention the next level up Silverado 1500 ZR2. 😂😂😂

    • @PointShiftDrive
      @PointShiftDrive  Рік тому

      The Zr2 is basically a different suspension package but the ground clearance is pretty much the same. I think the problem with Chevy trucks being offroady is that they are just very large for most trails. They do make good overlanders however because of their size. But I wouldnt want a ZR2 for the Rubicon.

  • @acevent5759
    @acevent5759 2 роки тому

    I don’t care, if it’s a ZR two or trail boss that goes off road., For the price they’re charging that thing better be a Cadillac inside.

    • @PointShiftDrive
      @PointShiftDrive  2 роки тому +3

      It was very nice inside. I think if luxury is what you are after, this wont disappoint. My issue is that they want it to be an offroader at the same time.

    • @acevent5759
      @acevent5759 2 роки тому

      @@PointShiftDrive I understand. And you’re not wrong. I personally don’t think there’s an issue with the luxurious off-road are. But from what I understand I’ve heard that if you don’t have the lockers that those G 80s don’t really do what they claim they can do what they advertise. Thus they’re charging you for something I can’t do. Do you have any thoughts on this?

    • @PointShiftDrive
      @PointShiftDrive  2 роки тому

      @@acevent5759 They dont have nearly the offroad goodies that come standard in say a Bronco for example. But you dont need to look at lockers to figure that out. the wheels are pretty small. they arent idea of off road obstacles. they are however good for street. and not to mention the suspension. it wasnt bad. but the truck could use a much greater lift but then the wheels would not be proportionate. so in other words, the designers were fighting with the marketing people. ultimately they made a truck for the street with chunky gas eating tires.
      My thinking is... Make something purposeful or dont. Being in the middle isnt good for sales and its not fooling buyers.
