A little nit pick on the payload squat test. By putting the barrels all the way to the front it will keep it from squaring as much. When a person puts 1000 lbs in the box it usually goes from the front all the way back which puts weight behind the axle.

Is the towing leaderboard 10:40 correct? Silverado has the same numbers as the Tundra TRD pro? 0-100 should be 14.3s, not 16s. Other than that, I love how packed and complete these reviews are without a bunch of extra blabber

Congrats on the channel and am now subbed. Also awaiting ford to build my new 6.7 Tremor f350, the real off road monster😉 that's also costing me around 74k with employee pricing.
What does "Curb Weight" include in Canada? All fluids? Full tank of fuel? 150 lb driver? If you run with 1/4 tank of fuel with a 136 litre tank (F-150), you could have a variance of 100 lbs or so to your max payload. If you go over the scales at max payload, the amount of fuel could be the difference between receiving a ticket or not.
I regularly hauled a 1600lb camper in the bed with my stock All Terrain with no issues. You "felt" it but really only when going up hill and on washerboard roads.
You did a great review on this truck. The other guys were more concerned about the interior which I believe to be just fine. Though a little pricey.. it's a truck. And find it to be a very good one at that. It's a Chevy not a Cadillac or Lincoln so, to bash it's interior is crazy, everything is laid out nicely and it can be cleaned easily if you do go off roading. The 10spd transmission is the best part. Especially with the 5.3 compared to my 16 Silverado with the 6spd. I have the 20 with the midnight package and the wranglers, which took a minute to get use to lol. Have for a couple months now and don't even notice them anymore. But, like I said excellent job.
Thank you it is a pretty nice truck great looks, glad you showed the widow sticker. I was wondering if they were 20 inch wheels. I might get one, still thinking on it your video helped.
Totalled over $73 K! You certainly can get the core features of this truck for much less. The RST with the Z71 is a lot similar for one thing. This Blackout Package is crazy expensive. A Line-X bed cover might save $500. A truck costing this much should be a LTZ or top trim. Will you ever get your money back on the options? Also i can't see the reason for the 6.2L with its premium fuel.
I have the 2018 Chevy Silverado 1505.3 L midnight edition, LTZ, Z 71, I think mine is exactly the same as the trail boss without the 2 inch lift. They are bad ass trucks
What I don't like about putting a max trailer weight on the label is some people only look at that number and don't pay attention to the GCWR or payload. With this truck you are most likely going to hit the GCWR limit before you hit the max trailer weight... if your trailer weighs 9300 lbs and you weigh 198 lbs then you are already over the GCWR. I really like how GM is putting these labels on their trucks now... and in my opinion even the 2019 label had everything you needed to know... I think it's better that the owner needs to do a little math to figure out how much they can tow, hopefully that way they are looking at all the numbers. If the combined weight of this truck and trailer and cargo is less than 15000 lbs and if the total weight of this truck is less than 7000 lbs and if the hitch weight is less than 930 lbs then it does not matter how much the trailer weighs.
You might want to take a look at the stats on the 0 to 62 leaderboards. Said Chevy 16.4, 0 to 62 not 14.3. It matched the Toyota which is obviously not correct. Otherwise another great video.
Ah! I totally messed it up. Copied the Tundra numbers and forgot to switch them out for the Silverado. Thanks for catching it. Here's how the leaderboard should look: 1. 2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss 6.2L 0 - 50 km/h (31 mph) - 4.9s 0 - 100 km/h (62 mph) - 14.3s 2. 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro 5.7L 0 - 50 km/h - 6s 0 - 100 km/h - 16.4s 3. 2020 GMC Sierra Elevation 3.0L Diesel 0 - 50 km/h - 5.3s 0 - 100 km/h - 16.6s Lots more coming on this, and it will be fun to watch it evolve into the future. We just tested two new trucks today, and one was by far the slowest we've run. Stay tuned for more.
@@MrBillsfishin Why are the times so out of whack? Is that 0-100-0 time? Most of these trucks can do the time you show in the quarter mile (almost)! Car and Driver shows a 0-60mph time of 5.4 seconds for a 6.2L 1500 Pickup.
@@geoffmooregm he had copied the times for the Chevy incorrectly and as for the other they should be fairly close except that they use metric system which is actually 0 to 62mph I think.
@@MrBillsfishin Yes 100km/h is very close to 60mph. So all these trucks should be in the single digits. His post above shows 0-100km/h in the mid teens for all of them. He said "this is how the board should look" in his post.
I just picked up a Tundra with 250,000km, its still as solid as the day it left the plant. I wanna see that trail boss in 10 years and see how she looks and feels. @@coryernewein Ontario isn't the only place in North America with salt and potholes. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. There aren't any places with more salt than that place. There so much salt that it is in the snow before it gets to the ground. I do get around quite a bit though. Currently in Mesquite, Nevada, and have to drive offroad to get to many places I visit. They aren't as neat and pretty as what was in the video with the trailer tow. At the end of the week I'm headed to San Diego where a big fire is currently burning.250,000km is nothing for my family. My wife's 2017 Chevy is currently at approximately/over 100,000km (65,000 miles). We've only had it 3 years. I've had my truck 1 month and it's already 5,000 miles (8,000+km)
@@domin8ss yeah I know Ontario isn't the only place with salt and crappy roads. I was just curious if you dealt with the same garbage conditions as myself lol we have an old 92 Chevy W/T. The engine and drive train are almost perfect still but the body is looking like it lived it's life launching boats in the ocean. I havent seen many vehicles that stand up to the surface and frame the same as a Toyota. Even my 2000 sienna with 484,000km has no rust anywhere structural or any holes in the body. Our 2012 jeep already has a couple body holes and the worst part is that the fuses and relays are right behind the front wheel just eating all that road grime that blows around the inner fender guard. Super annoying that companies don't try and make the vehicles last as long as possible when they could. Sure it may cost a few extra bucks to properly undercoat a vehicle but the savings in the end make up for it for sure. I am lucky that I get to work on my own vehicles so I like to keep them til they can't be fixed than derby them, I truly feel that vehicles should go back to grease fittings and more general services but parts and labor make companies more $$$ than greasing and services. I remeber when 5000,000 kms was nothing for a car that was maintained properly, now it seems like they are doing cellphone tactics and making things with planned obsolescence in mind. Shameful for the prices they want for vehicles and the amount they stand behind their products. That goes for all car makers.
Great review. However, you did say what WOULD make this a high speed off road truck like the "others". What would be YOUR first 3 additions to help get there? I have the blackout 2020 trail boss custom with 5.3. so far, that motor has impressed me big time on the hiway (havnt even changed the cold air box yet) and in the desert trails and hills here in southern Arizona.
I really just wanted to know if you can drive at highway speeds in 4 high for icy roads. This video answered none of those questions but was still interesting. Please do a 4 high limitations video
I have the 2020 Trail Boss LT with the 6.2 and I love the truck. I wish it had a more TRX type suspension and lockers. As far as milage, I traded a 18 Silverado with the 5.3 and there so close that the difference isn't worth mentioning.

The other guys were more concerned about the interior which I believe to be just fine.
Though a little pricey..
it's a truck.
And find it to be a very good one at that.
It's a Chevy not a Cadillac or Lincoln so, to bash it's
interior is crazy, everything is laid out nicely and it can be cleaned easily if you do go off roading.
Subbed, you were good on TFL so staying with ya man 👍
Appreciate it!
Thank you it is a pretty nice truck great looks, glad you showed the widow sticker. I was wondering if they were 20 inch wheels. I might get one, still thinking on it your video helped.
My man rockin a 10/10 hog toe. Get ‘em boss!
Nice review BTW
I was wondering where you went, thank God I found you, the best person from tfl
Trailboss is awesome, Just ordered one with the 6.2. Aweome show 👍
Totalled over $73 K!
Definitely a fan of this trail boss, seems like one of the good trucks Chevy made.
Here's how the leaderboard should look:
1. 2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss 6.2L
0 - 50 km/h (31 mph) - 4.9s
0 - 100 km/h (62 mph) - 14.3s
2. 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro 5.7L
0 - 50 km/h - 6s
0 - 100 km/h - 16.4s
3. 2020 GMC Sierra Elevation 3.0L Diesel
0 - 50 km/h - 5.3s
0 - 100 km/h - 16.6s
Lots more coming on this, and it will be fun to watch it evolve into the future. We just tested two new trucks today, and one was by far the slowest we've run. Stay tuned for more.
@@TruckKing awesome that you read the comments so you will be able to fix it quickly. Thanks for the content mister.
Always enjoy your take!
I'm betting the split had more to do with wanting to be back home near family in Canada than problems with TFL. Also welcome home.
Thanks Truck King for the latest update! This GM product is 40K overpriced!!
Ummmm that’s Canadian prices.
I just picked up a Tundra with 250,000km, its still as solid as the day it left the plant. I wanna see that trail boss in 10 years and see how she looks and feels. It is a nice truck for a lease though for sure, I wouldn't buy it though lol. Good video guys, can't wait to see some snow on your trails!
Call me in 10 years. I'll let you know how the Trail Boss LT with the 6.2 is.
@@domin8ss bahahaha sounds like a plan brother! Do you live in Ontario too? Our salty roads are atrocious on cars and trucks not to mention all the damn pot holes lmao hope that beast treats you like a champ and you get years of quality service from it. The 6.2 is the engine I would get too, good choice for sure!!!
@@domin8ss stay safe while out there with the fire big guy!!! You are a hero that more people should look up to and emulate!
Did you see the video of the mustang pulled one out of the mud. 😂😂. And no I'm not posting a link. Look it up its super hilarious
Didn’t know you left tfl. I subscribed to your new channel
The toyota 4runner ice video made me follow you, happy i found you again.
Your channel going well enjoying your reviews
LT really is the sweet spot.
Hey, great video man. What app do you use for the 0-60?
I really just wanted to know if you can drive at highway speeds in 4 high for icy roads. This video answered none of those questions but was still interesting. Please do a 4 high limitations video
You can run at highway speeds in 4-HI.
I have the 2020 Trail Boss LT with the 6.2 and I love the truck. I wish it had a more TRX type suspension and lockers.
As far as milage, I traded a 18 Silverado with the 5.3 and there so close that the difference isn't worth mentioning.
We found that too.
Great channel guys!
Great video. I would like to see old vs new versions of "identical" trucks - full comparrisons.
Excellent review as always!
I would love to have the truck in a diesel! Why GM?
I loved your video!
With that beard you've got going on you're sure to earn a nickname. Maybe "The Mad Mennonite" , "Presbyterian Panzer", "Fuzzyneck Elmer" , "Carpet face", or my favorite, "Barby Boy".
