Trent Alexander Arnold has been the best right back in the world for so many years and he’s been playing well at a top level for so many years. As a right back he has 100 G/A for club and country and at the age of 25 he’s won everything there is to win at Liverpool and along with his teammate Andy Robertson has the joint most assists out of any defender in the premier league. From an attacking perspective he’s a great right back because it’s rare to see a player in his position play beautiful crosses passes create chances regardless of where he is on the pitch whether he’s in the middle from deep or out wide and he even scored bangers from outside the box. Liverpool from 2018-2020 were an elite team and his performances were a foundation for their success and he at the right back position was like an extra midfielder for them as he delivered loads of assists and provided a lot of service for his teammates. After last season where he wasn’t quite at his very best and Liverpool as a whole struggled, a lot of people pushed an agenda that Trent Alexander Arnold wasn’t a world class right back because he couldn’t defend and that’s a narrative that’s been pushed around him basically saying that he’s overrated not as good as you think he is and gets too much hype because of English bias. Personally I don’t think he’s an overrated player, he divides a lot of opinion, and a lot of very good fullbacks like Marcelo Dani Alves Roberto Carlos and some were great going forward but none of them were criticized for their defensive shortcomings and I think Trent Alexander Arnold at right back can reach his true potential even without being defensive minded due to his output in that position and his unique style of football. Great video. Your point about "what type of defender does your team need?" is absolutely perfect. A defensive minded fullback does not suit Klopp's Liverpool. But Trent is the building block of what Klopp wants to do.
Trent has been my favorite Liverpool player for a few years now. his talent with the ball is unmatched in the Premier League. I was also fortunate enough to see him play at Anfield, where he created 3 beautiful assists for Mane in the 5-0 win over Watford. Yes, the same game mentioned in the video at minute 6:55!!! :)
Great vid the one thing I'm missing is the fact that Trent is the only player ever to assist teammates from every position.(Completing this with Alissons header from a corner) It's interesting and definitely a record that he won't have to share with many players.
One of the main reasons Trent doesn’t play midfield is that his strong suit is crosses from wing areas. Also he isn’t really a hyper pressing player like our other midfielders are
This season I think his game defensively has improved loads, I believe now we have fresh legs in the midfield it's not leaving RB exposed as before leaving him with room and space to drift central.

With players to cover him when he moves forward the biggest diffrence last year. In addition his hybrid role make it clear that his responsibility defence is expekted less in return more creativity forward. His once in a life time talent is finally being how it should be. I love the summer transfer window, it has gotten the best out of Trent and the entire team❤
Trent is impressive by how easily he can make in impact in matter of second. Wether it will be his reading ability of the game and make smart passes or his ability to look at his attackers and give long beautiful balls that catch opposition by surprise and causes goals. Very true he lacks defensive tactics but when he’s in the offensive side he’s a player that is dangerous.
He is an attack-minded midfielder having played there throughout his youth career. The kids mind works in different way and he is underrated & overhated.
I dont think he’s inconsistent at defense. He’s a good defender. Otherwise he would not be a Champions League and Premier League winner. I hate the slander he gets. He’s one of the best in his position of all time.
Everyone criticises him as a RB but he brings way more to the team and the game than that. He's dynamic and can read the game like no other, hence why he's magic to watch.
He can be criticized for his performance as an RB. No doubt. But even he had good moments as a defender this season, his offensive appearances are on a whole other level. He really can change a game for the REDs. Look at the FA Cup against arsenal. A vice captain for a reason.
If Liverpool get a more " traditional " RB then trebt can permanently play in the RCM position . He will be more efficient and control games much more strongly . This was the Hendo position and he can also run on the overlaps .
Usually cant have it all in any position/player. Look at R9 injury prone but the most lethal player to every play. Sergio Ramos a spectacular defender but a massive temper. Messi is short and can’t really jump over a defender to head the ball. CR7 not the greatest passer. You have to take the good with the bad. With special players you just have to put someone there to cover their deficiencies. Van Dijk and Henderson to help him defend. Ozil and Alonso to pass, Pique and Puyol to head the ball, etc.
Trent only needs to be aware of his surroundings when defending. He mostly focuses on where the ball is and who has it than checking if there is anyone behind him freely in a good position waiting a pass or cross to come his way. That is his weakness and why the likes of Vinicious jnr managed to score from his position. Take your head up, look at your right, left and back. Scan your surroundings and you're good to go. If Trent can do this, No one wil criticize him. He is already the best RB in moder day football. But as a liverpool fan myself i want to see him work on that.
Imo the best Trent’s position is in midfield (no shit) with license to roam around. He was a different beast when like last 10 games last season (if I am not mistaken) when he was given that role to roam around all over the pitch. His stats went crazy in that short period
As a Liverpool fan I’ll admit he is not the greatest defender at times, but when it comes to attacking play and creation no other fullback can do what he can do. I think if Liverpool can officially let him be a center mid, along with a new more defensive fullback we can really watch him wave his magic wand of a leg.
Trent's relatively poor acceleration is his major weakness defending at RB.This is not something that can be fixed. He knows it,hence his lacklustre performances at RB.He want's to be a midfielder,so let him be that.
Solid video man! You should do a video on Rodrygo as well. I feel as if he's overshadowed by Vini but this year he is definitely kicking into a new gear. His composure on the ball and in front of goal is immense and is still improving
I know this is about TAA, but when talking about the Liverpool defence, how does Andrew Robertson not get a mention, his work rate is phenomenal in that position.
This is the one opinion I've always held that trent is a David Beckham regen and he should be playing as such like a RM not a RB,RWB or CDM. Just focusing on creating chances for teammates and set piece delivery.
Roberto Carlos and Marcelo were also seen as a defensive liability even tho were the best in the world as LB. That being said, they ALWAYS made it worth by their ability and other characterstics while in possession.
Because most people don’t know much about football . It’s also a very partisan viewpoint. The defensive liability tag is not his fault. When he goes forward the other 3 defenders should position themselves as a standard 3 at the back and move slightly to the right and spread out a little more to cover him. KONATE now able to do this job so TAA lately Is more able to influence the game more in an attacking way
What is with all these amazing English players all of a sudden? You should do a vid on Deli-Ali. the superstar that never was. Or how about a vid on bellingham. Everyone else is talking about him? Why not you? :)
I'll wait for a highlight reel of Ancraf Hakimi and Gigi Di Lorenzo "getting cooked," if every modern right back supposedly has one. He is a top right back, but was at no point in the top 10 fullbacks in my opinion, let alone the best. I just can't take him seriously after that home Napoli game.
I always thought of Trent as like the next David Beckham. Great crossing, corner, nice free kick and long range strike and very good passing all around
Next David Beckham or next Steven Gerrard

Free kick is still not enough to lace David Beckham's boot

Trent was not moved from RM to RB for the academy, he was a CM for the academy, he got played at RB by klopp
Trent Alexandre Arnold You'll Never Walk Alone- Ever !
He is the best passer of the ball in the Premier league, and he had gotten better at defending recently.
Trent has to change his position
He will be one of the best as a midfielder ngl
The individual awards speak for themselves in comparison to any other fullback in epl history. Greatest rack back in epl history
Trent's relatively poor acceleration is his major weakness defending at RB.This is not something that can be fixed. He knows it,hence his lacklustre performances at RB.He want's to be a midfielder,so let him be that.
if Trent just locks in on defense he no doubt the greatest to play that RB position.. hopefully we win the EPL this season! #YNWA 🏆
putting him full-time into midfield makes him a better defender, keeps him close to the action, closer to the ball.
Dani Alvez and Marcelo couldn't strike a ball as AA? okay.
He should play as RWB or RM maybe even RW
Trent is the goat 🐐
what a great video, youve earned a subscriber bro
Liverpool have the best defensive record in the league. Nuff said.
Solid video man! You should do a video on Rodrygo as well. I feel as if he's overshadowed by Vini but this year he is definitely kicking into a new gear. His composure on the ball and in front of goal is immense and is still improving
i actually got him to 95 overall in career mode, shows his potential in game too
if you can't see the greatness - your loss. If you know, you know.
big ups fam, great vids
I know this is about TAA, but when talking about the Liverpool defence, how does Andrew Robertson not get a mention, his work rate is phenomenal in that position.
This is the one opinion I've always held that trent is a David Beckham regen and he should be playing as such like a RM not a RB,RWB or CDM. Just focusing on creating chances for teammates and set piece delivery.
Trent. 😍
What no way I’m barley see ur channel Awesome video! Great topic! New sub ✌️
His long passing and crossing is just like Beckham. He needs to be played at right mid
Roberto Carlos and Marcelo were also seen as a defensive liability even tho were the best in the world as LB. That being said, they ALWAYS made it worth by their ability and other characterstics while in possession.
He is generational
He's good as a central midfielder too
good vid but i didn’t come to this video to learn about his come up i already knew that, i came to see what he’s doing that no one’s noticing
Great video 🔥
The thing is the value that he bring for attacking is way too big for him to get substituted
Because most people don’t know much about football . It’s also a very partisan viewpoint. The defensive liability tag is not his fault. When he goes forward the other 3 defenders should position themselves as a standard 3 at the back and move slightly to the right and spread out a little more to cover him. KONATE now able to do this job so TAA lately Is more able to influence the game more in an attacking way
Reece James had Trent level creation, if he could have stayed fit he easily becomes the best RB in the world
In fact Trippier got hat trick of assists vs sheffield 0-8 game this season😅. But it doesn't change the fact that Trent is absolutely unbelieveble
😢Trent has one of the best attacking abilities in the world
Trent is the best right back in the world. No need for long talks on this one
Last season, he wasn't a good defender but this season imo he was solid defending idk why y'all underestimate him
Underrated my faveotite player
What is with all these amazing English players all of a sudden?
You should do a vid on Deli-Ali. the superstar that never was. Or how about a vid on bellingham. Everyone else is talking about him? Why not you? :)
He is good in crossing the ball and free kicks but he still need to have more sense of urgency and quick reflexes when defending near goal.
nice video man
Best RB Ever!
He's flying now
Amazing work
Watching Liverpool play is so fun. Out of no where Alexander-Arnold just booms it to the forwards and teams are just caught with their pants down.
the issue with defending is very simple: Trent is a born midfielder.
Raphinha is Trent of Barcelona. Best suited for Wing back
He needs to be in the midfield and people will not worry about his defense.
He did lot of thing to LFC but he cost us our last champions league final 😢0-1 against madrid
