When you use the cereal bags, I can see where they may be better to DECREASE the GLOSSINESS, BUT do they do anything to deter the FOGGINESS?? And has anyone tried PARCHMENT PAPER? Or PHOTO PAPER (Gloss OR Matte?? I o f t e n find THESE in the "thrift stores). Thanks for everyone's input!!

When I was a kid - MANY moons ago, we used to do this with clear Contac paper! Later in college, we did a similar process with the clear Contac paper and photo emulsion for silkscreening.

I have been using the clear shelf liner that comes on a roll for years. I can seal it with the iron. I have covered thin boards front and back and used a heat gun to melt and seal the edges.
I'm not sure if it's cheaper than using sandwich bags, but it is thicker and doesn't take 2 sheets and twice the labor.

This is an economical idea. You can do this with gel medium as well. Three layers, then sponge off the paper. You'll be left with a transparent transfer. It's great for magazine paper.

Respecting, Appreciating and Loving the Ocean and it's residents, I DO NOT BUY TRASH PLASTIC. That is the sure way to end the plastic travesty. Big Business won't sell what people won't buy. Is it easy? NO. But it is so far beyond worth it the word needs to be invented to describe joining the movement to conquer this crisis. I use only glass jars from food products or mason jars for food storage and for many beautiful crafts and other uses. I crochet or use quilted material to make holders to put the jars in that protect them even if I drop them. Even a lovely plastic craft becomes old and tossed in time. It's nice to give a friend a glass jar or two of food to take home not wondering if the plastic container will end up adding to the plastic disaster. The glass jars I use if ending in the OCEAN are broken and make sea glass people love to collect. Or if unbroken, land on a rock shelf or bottom maybe becoming a safe haven for the intelligently sentient octopus, or hundreds of other OCEAN life. I wish you had to see a beautiful whale dead on the beach with an autopsy revealing it's body filled with killing one-use and trash plastic, meaning it died a painful and starving death before it's time. Plastic bags and bottles and other popular small plastic products that float through the OCEANS imitating food sources are a #1 priority in getting responsible for all life on Earth. There won't be life without the OCEANS. Recycling has so many negatives and failures. If it worked why are there at least 5 Plastic Garbage Patches in our Oceans? One in the INDIAN OCEAN, 2 in the ATLANTIC OCEAN and 2 in the PACIFIC OCEAN. Not only are these Plastic Patches killing the life in our OCEANS thereby starving millions of humans dependent on their livelihood from the OCEANS to feed and support their families, the climate is also affected disastrously.
Some plastic patches, as in the NORTH PACIFIC, are as huge as SPAIN, FRANCE and GERMANY COMBINED! OCEAN CLEANUP Scientists closely estimated the last Patch they worked on was 620,000 square miles!
May you develop beautiful and imaginative craft videos for helping our OCEANS and WATERWAYS become healthy and balanced again for our future generations, as you are very good at teaching. I could never do what you do. I can only write begging for people to care and research the true facts. Please teach crafts without plastic or it's products like foam noodles, etc. Research where tests have found foam particles in CHILDREN'S BODIES as well as OCEAN MAMMALS. And remember plastic use as in the microwave, for example, is a factor in cancer and possibly in immune disfunctions. Please think over the effects of the multiple thousands of craft videos featuring trash plastic and the resulting millions of plastic sales. For our OCEANS and it's RESIDENTS. PLEASE.

I'm noticing the similarities between transfer options. For one, ink jet printing is common. Then, even with Mod Podge, the paper rubbing is part of the prcoess. Thanks for the plastic bag idea - it would not only be less glossy thank packing tape, but allow for larger transfers.

I remember back to the days when I was a kid in the 1960's - transfer from printed paper to plain paper using lighter fluid.

Neat idea. You should test it with greenhouse plastic. That plastic has a useful life of about 4 years. After that it usually has to be replaced as it starts to have holes or tear etc. You could get use of the plastic to grow food, and then upcycle the used plastic for this or other ideas.
