The Marriott Wailea resort is a cornerstone of our trips to Maui. It's everything you could hope for, and the open layout keeps us from feeling cramped, even during that time when we were there during a big convention. We've never gotten a room with a view, but it really doesn't matter because the resort itself has so many inviting areas to relax that you don't get the feeling like the room is where you have to go for down-time.
We love DT Fleming, Kapalua Bay, and The Montage! Cane and Canoe is one of our favorite restaurants for special dinners too, even breakfast is incredible there.
Stayed at both the Ritz and Grand Wailea last summer for our honeymoon - on points. Definitely preferred the Wailea area for it’s walkability and true beachfront. Overall, we felt the Grand Wailea had more of that “Hawaii feel” than the Ritz. Humuhumu at Grand Wailea was an excellent meal. The Ritz not being beachfront was a huge drawback for us and all the food/drinks we had were sooo expensive and not very good.
We stayed at the Four Seasons in April and while it was absolutely fantastic it was a bit too posh for our family. I could see it being super romantic and wonderful for adults though.
Nice video! I stayed at the Ritz Maui in 1999 and it was amazing. We just were in Maui last week and I visited the Ritz again and also the Montage. That was unbelievable. I’d love to stay there next time.
Have you done a video of more affordable options if you don't plan on spending your vacation at the hotel, and therefore you don't need the amenities? Also, how do the resort and parking fees compare at these luxury resorts?
We have a video on vacation rentals vs hotels. We have a Maui value hotel video in the works. Resort and parking fees can be a better price or waived at value hotels. See our Maui where to stay video for more hotel ideas: ua-cam.com/video/IK8H7nZ-poU/v-deo.html
Just curious if you know if you can use restaurants and/or spa services from adjoining hotel properties, or are they just reserved for their own guests?
Andaz is a nice place to stay. Doesn't have big grounds but a good location on Mokapu. They have a good, intimate lu'au and has a lot of energy at night (a younger vibe).
Andaz is smaller and feels more luxurious. The Grand Wailea is good for kids because of the pool. The Andaz pools are more for adults. no splash pads, etc.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thank you! We ended up booking Grand Wailea for this Christmas after watching your video. We also booked the Molokini snorkeling through your site, can't wait!
I had dinner at the Ritz-Carlton one night and listened to a 30 minute rant at the next table over people who "reserved" seats at the upper pool by leaving their towels and books on the seats, without actually being there.
Erica loves the Montage for the vibe, the rooms, and the service. Ritz is great but Montage takes the cake. Plus, you can walk across the lawn to Kapalua Beach.
just started researching vacation "packages" to these resorts... Most are around $20k - $24k for a family of 4. Wondering if that is a "normal" bill for most families heading to a nice Maui resort.
that sounds high but it depends on how many nights you plan to stay and when. For comparison, you can see this cost estimate for Oahu. We are updating for 2023. thehawaiivacationguide.com/trip-to-hawaii-cost-for-a-family/
thank you for the info - booked already so not able to use this info for hotels - snorkle info good too - coming early next month - will come back ? for whale watching ...would love to stay at any of these thanks for the reviews : glenda
I have 1.5 year old and 3.5 year old. Coming to Maui mid November for 3 nights. Can you advise, ritz vs wailea beach resort for weather? Will the Ritz be too windy during that time? The reason I’m asking is, the Ritz is on sale right now vs WBR Marriott, ritz-200 Marriott points vs WBR 300 Marriott points. Im tempted to book it the ritz, but I am concern about the weather. I was set on booking Wailea beach resort Marriott for the weather and kids pool. Thanks
We recommend going with Wailea Beach Resort. The weather may be windy, cloudy, and high surf in October in Kapalua as you suspect. Plus, the pool is far better at the WBR.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide 4/5 nights at sheraton maui vs 3 nights marriott wailea? I’ve been to Kaanapali multiple times, and was set on staying at the Marriott wailea. But wanted your input, would you stay at the Sheraton if it meant 1-2 extra nights vs the Marriott Wailea? Am i going to wish I had the Marriott wailea pool for my 3 and 1.5 year old boys? Thank you so much!
Yes! It has a great kids pool and wonderful location in Kaanapali. It is a go to recommendation for us. Check it out here: prf.hn/l/KV4k52n (affiliate link and direct booking link with Marriott) Thanks for watching!
there is always a risk of fire on Maui and the risk is increasing but the fire department has always done a good job of keeping people and communities safe.
Andaz was a great hotel. Surprised it’s not on this list. Great service. But maybe not the best for kids. Hawaii Vacation Guide recommended it and was very happy with their recommendation.
Great video. One of these days. I have to admit, the resort stays just don’t work for me. I am not the type of person that when they go to Hawaii I sit by the pool. I look at my vacations in a way that if I am not tired when getting on the plane heading home, I did something wrong. I have been to a few of them though for dinning.
Totally agree! Our first trip to Maui we stayed at some of these resorts because we had the hotel points. If we ever go back we would rent a condo instead. We’re always out doing things so we found we didn’t get the value out of these beautiful resorts to be worth paying for next time.

You guys truly have the best and most helpful videos. This is the third trip you've helped me plan!
That is wonderful to hear! Thanks for continuing to come back for more information! Enjoy your next trip to Hawaii!
Your videos are great but I’m always most impressed how you’re doing it all with small children! That can’t be easy! Great job!
Thanks! The kids have fun with us and we give them lots of pool time and do what they want too.

I love that review, well said. The resort checks a lot of boxes for a Maui vacation stay.
I just stayed there. Wonderful resort

This is the video I have been looking for. Nailed it guys, thank you!
U guys been very helpful with all these tips and advice. Keep it up !

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like a great honeymoon with those places.
We love you guys ❣️😊
I learned first hand that ulua beach is a great place to snorkel. On the fourth of July ulua beach is the perfect spot to watch fireworks.
Love this video wish I could afford to stay at some of these places. Can you guys make a similar video but budget friendly places to stay in Maui.
We have one in the works and more where to stay articles. Our Maui itineraries share more places to stay, like value hotels.
You guys are awesome😔🙌🏾
We stayed at the Four Seasons in April and while it was absolutely fantastic it was a bit too posh for our family. I could see it being super romantic and wonderful for adults though.
The Four Seasons on the Big Island would be a better fit for families. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for the video! I'm planning our move and looking at different hotels to book when we make our move to Kihei. Let our journey begin! ❤
Awesome! Thanks!
Greatest guide I've seen! new sub earned, btw im gonna take a trip to grand Wailea next week im just bingewatching all ur vids XD
thanks for subscribing! Enjoy the Tarzan swing and swim up bar!

I know! good life goals for staying there!
like always outstanding video! Where do you guys think are the most swimmable beaches in maui hotels?
Kaanapali and West Maui beaches are your best bet for swimmable beaches for most of the year!
Great video. Would like to stay at the Kea Lani again but at $1300 per night too high, choose the Marriott Beach Resort instead
prices were crazy this summer, I hope they come down this fall and into the winter. We shall see...

Which ones had the warmest pools? 😊 Thanks
I’m afraid I don’t remember, they are all warm in Hawaii.
Just curious if you know if you can use restaurants and/or spa services from adjoining hotel properties, or are they just reserved for their own guests?
You can use restaurants and spas at other resorts. Call ahead as the more luxurious ones may have less seats or spots for non guests.
Solid video. But not having the Andaz on here is criminal. That has got to be the most luxurious one I’ve stayed at on Maui.
haha, good point. Andaz is luxury and a fun vibe.
How do you feel about Outrigger at Kanaapali Beach?
We've stayed there twice. It is a classic and a good location. Stay in their remodeled rooms.
Thanks for all the great content! Any thoughts on the Andaz in Wailea?
Andaz is a nice place to stay. Doesn't have big grounds but a good location on Mokapu. They have a good, intimate lu'au and has a lot of energy at night (a younger vibe).
Thank you so much! My fiancee and I are thinking of staying there for our Honeymoon in November! :)
Thanks for the nice review! Grand Wailea seems like the best/ family friendly. How is Andaz compared with Grand Wailea?
Andaz is smaller and feels more luxurious. The Grand Wailea is good for kids because of the pool. The Andaz pools are more for adults. no splash pads, etc.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thank you! We ended up booking Grand Wailea for this Christmas after watching your video. We also booked the Molokini snorkeling through your site, can't wait!
Great video! The four seasons review felt a bit rushed, would you say it’s similar to Fairmont and Grand Wailea?
The Four Seasons is nicer than those two as more made for couples with a newer feel
I had dinner at the Ritz-Carlton one night and listened to a 30 minute rant at the next table over people who "reserved" seats at the upper pool by leaving their towels and books on the seats, without actually being there.
Are any of the pools heated? Often times the pools are freezing at resorts
We don’t know! We have found the pools to be warm in all seasons. Only the Sheraton Waikiki kids pool felt cold in February.
Noob question, But are you able to visit these resorts (eat at the restaurants and such) with out having accommodations? thanks for the help!
Some resorts you can eat at the restaurants but some need a reservation or guests only. Very few offer pool passes. Good question
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide thank you for the time! and response.

@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide What a great life. Do you write it all off on taxes? Haha.
Is it safe now to travel with the fires?
there is always a risk of fire on Maui and the risk is increasing but the fire department has always done a good job of keeping people and communities safe.
What about the Andaz vs Hyat Regency?
The Andaz is in Wailea and is more modern and newer than the Hyatt in Ka'anapali. Hyatt is better for kids.
Andaz was a great hotel. Surprised it’s not on this list. Great service. But maybe not the best for kids. Hawaii Vacation Guide recommended it and was very happy with their recommendation.
Does anyone know if any of these resorts offer day passes?
daily passes haven't really come back after COVID. These luxury resorts don't offer them at this time.
ONLY 3 KEA LANI Fourseasons and montage
Those are the best ones!

Wait! What?! No Andaz hotel? Boutique, luxury, refined… it’s arguably the best in Maui.😢
We like the Andaz but missed it in this video!
R bandb cheaper
TWENTY TWO THOUSAND ACRES? I highly doubt that.
