My own secret: Instead of the oatmeal, buy a jar of goldfish flakes. Crush them up and add that in. Not only does it add scent, but it binds well, too.
Thanks for the video, I loved it! Now I'm watching it once again to write down all the measurements. I can't wait to try it out this week...thanks again!
I didn't have any flour, so I used pancake mix instead... it all went great until I tried to boil them and they disintegrated... Upon a second effort I didn't boil them. But I experimented with microwaving them. I found that 7 seconds was the perfect amount of time to microwave them. 5 seconds too short and 10 too long. Then I seared some garlic in olive oil, strained it, let it cool, and dipped the 7 second microwaved dough balls in it and microwaved them all another 10 seconds and then chilled them in the fridge... and at the start I through in some orange glitter... I think these babies are perfect... will see how they fish. Going to test them in a glass of water once they are chilled, see if the disintegrating in water thing goes away.
theres a rainbow trout farm down the road from where i live which pretty much means an abundance of escaped rainbow, i was thinking of throwing some of that fish feed they use into a food processor and adding it your recipe and maybe throw some of the freshly cooked dough balls into a bag of fish feed powder to make sort like a shake and bake style bait
thanks I'm gonna try this. I hate paying for a little power bait that's $5 when I can make myself. I usually buy power bait and just add garlic powder to it. I guess you can just add garlic powder after its boiled too
I like that recipe it's a great recipe a easy one to follow and I'm sure that it'll work great now what you recommend to put a little bit more garlic in it so the garlic stays a little longer and gets more intense let's say trigger the fish to bite
so i made some just like u did in the video and i went fishing this past sunday and got nothing with this bait at all but i will try again this weekend fishing in new mexico albuquerque for rainbow trout
I am going trout fishing this weekend. Is this good for brook, brown, and rainbow? Also I have a size 6 hook. Will doe fit on the hook, if not what size hook do u recommend?
I remember that when we were young and my family did not have to dimes to rub together we always used these type of dough as bait. We caught mostly catfish and carp. We never caught a trout. It does not float at all, it's too dense. but maybe it will work for trout for you?
Preferred fishing dough put in plastic bag and ties with rubber band boiled the package for 40 minutes so the ingredients flavour remain. Ready for fishing.
I think that the balls he made are a bit too big if you have ever seen the power bate nibblet things I think it should be like that size maybe a little bigger
go on amazon and buy bouancy powder....its a kit,,easy instructions..actually,,making the bait using their instructions,,is great!!and it will outfish berkley powerbait 10 to 1!!!!the trout go nuts for this stuff
So far, makes a DAMN good carp bait, esp when I’ve tried everything in the past but fishing for trout and catching carp like their willingly sacrificing themselves on an alter.🤷🏽
If it does not float it will just be sitting at/near the bottom the whole time if you are not setup right and trout are rarely in that area (they usually prefer to be near the top to hunt for bugs). Carp on the other hand love staying near the bottom. To use bait that does not float you will need to float it off of the top of the water using a bobber or something similar.

I like to use powdered fish hatchery food in my dough but I'm sure the goldfish food works excellent as well! Thanks for the tip!
Only one vid in 8 years, wonder how this dude is doing now. Thanks for the recipe!

I think watching the purple on the stove was my favorite part.
Yep
marxman1839 me to
Never seen a purple stove like that
This works me and my little brother together caught 3 brook trout
does it float?
looks delicous perfect for a shore lunch! :)
Just like mom used to make...
When she was DRINKING!!
Thank you for video super helpful, I'm going to this with kids... I have one question do they float like the power bait??? Thank you
there is a way to put egg in it and cook it to make it float, just look up how to make boilies to see how it works.
Or add a power egg on the tip of they eye of the hook
you sound like Paul walker, I love your stove & thanks for the ingredients
Paul walker sounds difrent but its pretty close RIP PW
personally like to add a whole lot of butter tends to keep it longer on the hook... thanks for the recipe something new to try ^^
you should have added food coloring +Hank Vanderhoeven
Trout love corn too!
great video, Hank - I'm going to try it - thanks!

Did you test this to see how well/long it took before it disintegrated? Microwaving seems like it would use less power than the stove too.
We went fishing using this bait and we caught 16 trout.
Good deal 👌 I'm gonna try it thanks 😊

exactly what I was thinking -Purina Trout chow or Turtle Pellets ground up and added...
@@DeanF Did you try this with the Turtle pellets/Fish food to see how well it worked?
it's a buoyancy powder kit..you can get it thru Amazon for around ten buks
How long can this last with out expiring
thanks I'm gonna try this. I hate paying for a little power bait that's $5 when I can make myself. I usually buy power bait and just add garlic powder to it. I guess you can just add garlic powder after its boiled too
deep fry and hit them with a few dabs of oyster sauce
Good one mate
Thank you!

How long does it last and can you refrigerate it to keep it longer my trout season opens next week
fridge will preserve or you can freeze it for a long time
Great video, thanks for sharing.
does it only catch trout
AWESOME. you can also put food coloring and make different colors and fish sauce from asian foods.
So after you let them sit and then you go fishing they do break up in a smaller pieces for trout.
so i made some just like u did in the video and i went fishing this past sunday and got nothing with this bait at all but i will try again this weekend fishing in new mexico albuquerque for rainbow trout
Burque!
Tingley?
Ive been trying to find a bait that floats to put on my bottom rig
PVC powder 😉
Does it work better than powerbait beacuse powerbait falls off
Does it float?
Can I add tuna oil to get more scent on the dough?
Did you try the Tuna Oil and how well did it work?
I am going trout fishing this weekend. Is this good for brook, brown, and rainbow? Also I have a size 6 hook. Will doe fit on the hook, if not what size hook do u recommend?
i use this for rainbow all the time and also use i size 6 hook. you can split the balls in half and it should fit right on the hook.
Macvagenc used it the other day caught a rainbow in literally like 45 seconds after cast. n u can reshape these balls they dont get hard or anything
does it work without corn meal
Can you dye them with food coloring
What about if u don't got corn meal what can u use
Will this work with Walleye?
Does it float
So what you are making are bollies as used for carp fishing.
is it effective for carp ?
yes, carp eat almost anything.
does the bait float?
You can add food coloring for some attracting visuals
What if you don't have corn mill? should I add an extra 1/3 cup of flour?
It just prob won’t be as soft
Even if it don't float just fish it under a float
Would it work while jigging

Wow thanks
hi Hank do the baits sink or float
It sinks unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything that'll make it float.
when you use the dough bait do you use it as is or do you take little chunk from dough ball ?
I think that the balls he made are a bit too big if you have ever seen the power bate nibblet things I think it should be like that size maybe a little bigger
yeah, depends on what size hook i use. mostly size 6.
can you add food colouring for the color of the bait
yes you can it would add a lot of texture to the dough which fish like
Wait so when your finished do u refrigerate
yes, but it can be used after it cools off a bit. putting it in the refrigerator will help it last longer once you're done using it.
Do they float
Do they float?
Great mate
?? Does it work
Hi Hank, this dough bait for trout can float, if not can any body else tell me about other ingredient to make it float. thanks
go on amazon and buy bouancy powder....its a kit,,easy instructions..actually,,making the bait using their instructions,,is great!!and it will outfish berkley powerbait 10 to 1!!!!the trout go nuts for this stuff
got it thanks
+james bell I tried looking for kit, can't find it, whats the name of the product?
Maybe add some neon food dye to the boiling wAter and also maybe saturAte the boiling water with som garlic powder or even garlic cloves
Awesome!! Hope it will work for me
I use boiling water when I make it instead of boiling after.
Where is the fishing part...😡
Do they even Flote?
I only have onion powder, does that work?
It might but I'd go buy some garlic powder its incredibly cheap. For some reason hatchery trout really key into to garlic
I want to see if it works
just made it
Can you use flavored oatmeal?? Or does it have to be plain oatmeal
it can be, ive found that a sweeter flavor can work well.
Does it work without oatmeal?
it sure does
Thanks
Does it work with out cornmeal
Do u know how to make it out of tuna
is this good for rogenbogn?
Making this tonight
Man deep fry them and take them for a snack, he'll with the fish lol..
Anybody can make dough..question is does it float? And how do you add a yellow ot chartreuse color effect?
With dye, genius
When I made it it sunk like a rock
Its supposed to
Trout noodles!
Thanks helped a lota lot

I did this but added probably 20 random spices to it
How did it work? I saw some guy on youtube add cinnamon on it.
Awesome thank you!
What state do you fish in?
A drunk state
never mind I just tried and it just falls apart when I tried boiling
boiled too hard, just simmer the water
Dough balls are 3 times the size they should be.
Garlic salt
Tried it and it sunk like a bowling ball
Steven Emas instead if boiling it you can put it in the microwave. By microwaving it you dont add any water and it should float
Aussie you need to add egg. This is basically a carp boilie. The egg fluffs up a little and that is how they float
Mix chicken liver slurry in it for brown trout.
Next time add salt so its more dense than the water and sinks
I think that's only work for carP
add glitter I try it and you need to put a fucking iszackly mesurements
i don't think they good,not floating
So rude! On MR.Motzingos channle you said *disgusting to keep breeding.* that comment is disgusting
Just use any kind of bread ya amateur
No self respecting trout fisherman would fish with this!
Go fish for carp! 👍🏻
Does it float?
